What is the Arc Client?

Is the STO Gateway still viable/functional?

Seriously, I try to login at the Gateway and my credentials are denied (username/password are invalid). I go to perfectworld.com and try to register for the STO Gateway, it sends me to Arc. I have an Arc login! I log into Arc, or I start the STO client, click 'VISIT GATEWAY' and I'm back at the Gateway login screen!!!

Functional? Eeehhhh...kinda..... Viable? Never was. It's buggy and very outdated and serves pretty much no purpose.

Nevermind. I jumped to the end of the closed Gateway discussion, and it appears to be defunct. I wish they would remove the link from the client homepage.

It's not completely defunct, just pretty broken, buggy and horribly outdated. Just logged in and at least my characters had the right ships showing even though they were shown with the wrong uniform, profession, boff layout.

That would explain the expired certificate warnings I get when trying to visit Gateway on a browser...

I think one of the recent Podcasts revealed that the devs currently have no plans to work on the gateway. I'd say it's pretty much dead. You can still log in but what you see if often not very accurate/useful.
