T6 Dream Ship: Tal Shiar Adapted Deadnought

nikeixnikeix Member Posts: 3,972 Arc User
The Tal Shiar Adapted ships are what brought me back to STO after many years because I'm a huge fan of the design work that went into the Narada (you don't need a universal translator to get the message "I HATE YOU ALL" from just one glance at that silhouette). I would LOVE to see (and fly) a T6 dreadnought based on the visual and game mechanics style of those two ship, possibly with a new Console (planetary core drill) or Secondary Deflector that extends the existing set to four pieces. An 11 console, new ship skill granting spiny behemoth would by right at the top of my dream ships list.

((Plus the Narada came from the Prime timeline and you'd think it would be sort of important in the temporal plotlines the game is moving into. In the STO Universe it would appear someone associated with the Temporal Accords successfully stopped Nero's incursion. Likewise Noye might take an interest in supporting Nero & the Narada as a possible means of "wiping the stain of the Federation from history".))

The Narada may have come from the prime universe but it was used exclusively in a paramount movie. This CBS authorized game can't use it (hence our off-brand Tal Shiar ships.)

yay, yay and thrice yay. The Tal Shiar ships are my favourite in the whole game. almost everything was right on them, from looks to slots to bridges. A T6 Romulan Tal Shiar Science Dreadnought would be worth 10 flagships :D

I'd love a T6 Tal'Shiar Adapted ship. I'm more in favor of the ABC myself, but either way it's definitely a T6 ship I'd buy if one existed.

The Narada also probably wouldn't physically fit in this game :). It's kinda... BIG. It'd be more like a piece of map scenery .

My dream ship doesn't need to be the Narada, I'd just like to see a T6 dreadnought of similar styling and around the same size as the Tarantula (i.e. something we know the game engine can cope with).

Interestingly the guys doing those incredible figures do movie-based over-sized figs as special releases. The Vengeance looks amazing and they've indicated they will be doing the Narada later on in the run. I'm so going to buy that .

Yeah... I've been thinking making it a Science Dreadnought is the way to go, too. I've got Secondary Deflector on the brain and the two existing Tal Shiar Adapted ships both have the sensor lock toggle of science ships.

The ones we have in-game, they clearly went back and took their cues from the original design sketchs rather than what appeared in the movie. Same principle could apply to a T6.

As long as they'd give it plenty of universal boff slots like both existing ships have (and 4 sci console slots), they can make it anything they want, but science is definitely good.

Been thinking about this more and I have an idea for a in-theme Universal Consol: I'd like to see a console that works like the Vadwaur bombardment - click it and it marks a couple spots and then instead of energy blasts it flings shrapnel missiles at every marked location. A nice variant on the Tal Shiar Adapted Destroyer console and uses all existing tech and visual elements :).

That would certainly be nice. Maybe something based on Donatra's Scimitar in Khitomer Vortex, but updated more around the new T6 visuals i bit.

It would be kinda cool to have this sort of 'proto-sphere' with the thalaron wings stuck open with that cool spiky webbing :)

I'd like a token from the C-Store to evolve ANY ship into T-6.
  • questeriusquesterius Member Posts: 8,309 Arc User
I would settle for just being able to use the Borg warp cores on other vessels than the Tal Shiar.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Not gonna happen its even in the FCT that its not gonna happen, please make another wish B)

Using the Tal Shiar cores on other ships would be nice especially if it had a visual effect.

Why? Personally I'd rather run another core on my TSABC, but I want the three-set bonus from it and the two ship consoles. :frowning:

You can get a HullR core from the Kobali ship if you want that aspect (and it's a higher amount at the same mark and rarity). Also, the warp bonus doesn't stack with the Borg Engines and is of the same magnitude anyway, so no loss there once the toon can level Borg Rep.

A 4 piece borg set bonus for starters. Not to mention a bit of role-play. My assimilated Intrepid requires a borgified warp core. :open_mouth:

As someone who owns, and really enjoys flying a tal shiar adapted dreadnought, I would love to see a dreadnought version of the Tal Shiar line. But I have the feeling it's going to end up being like the Elachi Sheshar Dreadnought, or the Voth Bulwark. You'll have to open c-store items that you never would purchase otherwise, for a very small chance to get the thing, and buying it off the exchange will be murder.

So basically, the Federation is an organization that exists to protect and preserve peace. I guess we do an awful lot of killing though. Oh well, that isn't important, for now let's roll up our sleeves and get to work.

There's no four-piece Borg set, at least not since the Reputation system introduction and the pulling of the Assimilated console from being part of the Deflector/Shield/Engine set. This core is part of a ship set, but not either of the sets you can get from Omega Rep.

Fair enough on the RP aspects.

Now an entirely new core that fits the current warp core meta, that would be neat, particularly if it counted for the old TSA three-set. Something power enhancing, like a big dose of [EPS], [W->A]/[S->A], and [Amp] at UR would go a long way to making a decent core.

I suppose a new ship console would also mean being able to slot a third console instead, but you can bet a four-set ship set would have an interesting boost if that happens. 3 consoles would still consume quite a bit of build space, so a buff to either the 2-set or making the older consoles have useful passives would help out a bit, though the buffs to older set bonuses so far is kinda all over the place (if they even get any).

With the Tholian Tarantula Dread release, it seems they're willing to shove in a large ship into a 'normal' lockbox drop table, though the Dread is still pretty expensive compared to other standard prize ships.

I could definitely get behind this... Still using my Adapted Tal Shiar Battle Cruiser as (despite having countless other T6 ships) I'm yet to find something I like anywhere near as much...

The ship is a beast as it is really. I have it on my Romulan as the main ship and with all the Specializations, the thing is nigh indestructible. Maybe it helps that my Romulan is an Eng. and that she's a Delta Recruit, with nearly every special BoFF out there.

Still, it's a beast. Not sure T6 would be fair.

The key word is "yet". There is no Borg 4-piece set yet.

The first Belfast was commanded by Captain Ve'Kal Shon until its destruction in 2409. A new ship was commissioned bearing the same name and registry as special dispensation to then newly promoted Captain Edward XIII for his pivotal role during the renewed Dominion War.

Both of the existing Tal Shiar Addapted ships are a joy to fight with. They both have a nice Science sensibility with 4 blue consoles, good shield multipliers, and the Sensor Analysis toggle. They also have 11 consoles each, making a pretty good case that they are near-T6 already, and really only suffer from coming out prior to the specialization system.

In my perfect world "full T6" versions require very minimal tuning: the destroyer would add a secondary deflector and change the lt. commander science slot into science/pilot. The battle cruiser would add about 5% more hull and its lt. commander science slot would become science/command.

A T6 Tal Shiar Adapted Science Dreadnought doesn't quite write itself, but you could definitely build on the features of the first two. Adapted Borg Warp core, Sensor analysis, subsystem targeting, +10 shields/+10 aux. Maybe a shrapnel missile system that goes in a weapon slot instead of a console. If you wanted to score a 'game first' to set it further apart from the Krenim Science Ship and the Paradox it could come with two of them so you can load it up front and back or double front like many science torpedo-heavy builds. Comparable to Tholian Thermionic Torpedoes - not being locked to 1 per ship.
  • nikeixnikeix Member Posts: 3,972 Arc User
Having flown the Paradox for a while now, I'm definitely grooving on what a science dreadnought can include. Given how 'forward facing' the inspiration is, I could even see a 4 forward/2 back weapons slots (thought the Paradox proves that 4/3 isn't impossible for the big Science ships).

If you're talking about the battlecruiser, well yeah... It has a 1.3 shield mod with the hull of a cruiser. Take the command battlecruisers for example on the fed side, the TSABC has both more shields and hull than the fed command battlecruiser.

Would love more Adapted ships. The destroyer is still my favorite ship in the game, as far as aesthetics. I have 2 of them, just because. Faction specific ones would be spectacular.

That is how it was done. Branched off in 2233. The AR exists at the same time as the Prime Universe, just like how the Mirror Universe exists at the same time. It just branched off.

Definitely could go for a adapted dreadnought, though I could go for also a adapted carrier, with maybe a adapted variant of the drone pets of the scimitar dreadnought. Also for the idea of a console that would fire shrapnel type projectiles honestly I would rather it be either a standard torpedo that on impact explodes sending miniature shrapnel into other ships nearby dealing kenetic damage, or as a activated ability of the four piece set bonus of the set

Might sound weird I think another interesting idea for a activated set bonus ability would be a "release dominating nanites" that would release re-programed Borg nanites that infect an have a chance to alter the targeting systems of enemy ships within range to fire upon their allies, with the chance for the ship to turn on their allies being based on a base chance increased/decreased by the size/type of the ship as well as based on how long they have been in the range of the ship deploying the nanites.

Yeah... if that were true nobody would bother stopping any of them because they'd all be producing alternate universes no one in what they perceive as their own prime needs to give one squirt of Romulan Plasma over.

Infinite parallels are BORING. Control of the one true timeline creates fights to the bitter blood end by necessity.

Huh. I have both but I've only ever flown the Destroyer. Clearly I need to get a forklift and some ensigns and move all my toys over and try it out. I'd been distracted unlocking the Flagship skills, but that little diversion is coming to an end.

As to a T6 Tal Shiar Adapted Dreadnought having fighters... I realize fighter are all the rage presently, but I'd still like to hue closely to the original inspiration of the line and make it appropriately potent without resorting to hanger bays (if such a thing can even be done anymore ;)).
