Omega Upgrade Success Rate Paradox

I don't quite understand this but when I go to make any of the various pieces of the Omega Upgrades I.E. Silvers, shards Etc. it automatically slots my Rare "Research Lab Scientists" for 100% success rate. But when I try to change it out to a Very Rare the success rate drops to 0%. Why is Rare better then Very Rare? or am I doing something wrong?

I think it is simply a display glitch. I haven't processed any of the traces since last year, but I do not recall there being any benefits to using higher quality Doffs as opposed to lower quality Doffs. Meaning 3 traces gives you 1 sliver with no chance of failure or bonus for a critical success regardless of the Doff quality.

I cannot recall any Omega "Special Project" failing for any reason last year; let's hope we don't get a nerf this year...

Because it is a Doff mission. The vast majority of Doff missions has a small chance of failure so they generally show you your chances of success, critical success, failure and disaster.

Im pretty certain its easier (coding-wise) to keep the indicator there, rather than trying to do something so it doesnt show up at all.

Like @jaguarskx said, there is no benefit to slotting higher quality doffs, so just dont worry about it. The project never crits nor never fails to make higher tier particle piece.
