    Speak for yourself.

The STO 5 Year infographic shows a different picture, and whether those players (myself included) visit and camp out at Bajor often or not doesn't change the fact that having a home planet is much appreciated, no less than if say Ferenginar was made for Ferengi players, etc. Ds9 was also among the best series in ST, and no doubt at least a good percentage of those who liked it also enjoyed the major focus on Bajor and Bajoran people.

I just wish each major social zone had the same or better yet equal value Doff missions, and full amenities (Contraband Officer on New Rom Command - even Starbase 39 has one but then lacks ship repair and doctor station).

When they revamped Hathon, they neglected to take away the shouting crowds of Klingons. Much like SB39's officer that bashes away at the console 24/7/365, they made such great locations only to have these minor and easily removable map elements degrade the art - not a big deal, but if an artist creates something, they won't suddenly decide to poke a hole in their painting and walk away, even after touch-ups, and that is bizarre. The Klingons could have just appeared when someone is doing the missions in the same way the Dinos spawn when a player captures the last area in VBZ.

Pretty map. Nothing to do there like the other not-a-hub maps.

All the worlds should be full service with some minor missions and doffing like the Dyson sphere

Trolling and baiting in this thread aside, gameplay-wise the problem of Bajor is that we have two social zones sitting on top of one another: DS9 and Bajor. And it is DS9 that got the transwarp point to it. If it was otherwise - most likely then the DS9 would have been mostly deserted. Another contributing factor is that Bajor has no security officer for contraband turn-in, and DS9 is somewhat more compact location than Bajor in terms of important service locations - shipyard, bank/exchange/mail, etc.

That is about it, why people prefer DS9 to Bajor - and someone liking or disliking Bajorans or Bajor as a location has very little to do with it. It is due to purely utilitarian reasons.

Exactly what I wanted to add: Doffing is STILL broken - in more ways than one. I tried just now to get one single Diplomacy mission flying around Alpha quadrant leaving Doff window open while crossing blocks, one popped up for literally 1 second before defaulting to useless ones. How are we supposed to even max out Diplomacy commendation to even get the DS9 transwarp?

My Bajoran alt I've created a month or more after my 1st character, and have been Doffing away a lot given how much time is spend logged in on them. Still only at 84K/100K for Diplomacy, while the rest are all well past maxed out multiple times now (except Recruitment).

One of the reasons I prefer Bajor is - it is out of the way. Most people who come to Bajor are lower level chars who are finishing up the story arc. No vast numbers of players making Gorn jokes. Or trolling other players with fire extinguishers. Or spamming Fleet Invites. Running around saving the galaxy before lunchtime is fun. I really do enjoy STO and the people I've met playing this game over the years. But sometimes I just want to log in and tend to some administrivia on my chars without a lot of external distractions.

Park on block edges. You need to use manual throttle, but if you park in the right spots it'll get you missions. also, check your first officer DH.

I never liked what they pulled with Seska in Voyager. Sure she was more inclined toward Maqui ways but her early interactions with her friends on board were genuine enough. I believe that they didn't want another recurring female character on the show (see subsequent actions with Kes when Seven was joining the crew). They made her a traitor to Voyager and got her off the ship with the Kazon. To really cement the deal of being a baddie they also made her a Cardassian spy and a reprehensible being regardless of what race she was.

OK, I will start this out by saying, my main is a Bajoran, something about the Bajoran nose ridges I always found interesting on women. However yes the whole faith thing is way over done. Also yes the Bajorans got lucky, and the wormhole was just the right location for them to reap the benefit.

A perfect illustration of my thoughts on the matter is to quote myself the day after DS9 first aired. My friends were talking about it, and I said...

"It's a good thing there was no captain voiceover during the opening theme"

They asked what I mean to which I replied, "What the hell would he have said? Boldy staying where no one wants to be?"

As a big DS9 fan... I don't dislike the Bajorans as much as some other people do. The one map for it is gorgeous as f*ck, but... it's not about having interest in Bajor or not... much like ANY map in any world... unless there is a reason to be there, why would I be there unless it's for a mission?

Of course not! It's full of Bajorans! ;)

Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

    I like it.
It's quiet. (away from the screaming Klink's)
I like the general atmosphere of the place and the fact that it has a day/night cycle.
It's the only place in the game that seems like a real planet.
I also like that the Bank and Exchange are right next to each other and also near a vendor that pays out 50% on mission trash.
It's a peaceful place to go in the game and as other's have said, the player chatter is very minimal.
The Bajorans leave me alone and I don't bother them, so it's perfect in my eyes.

About the nose ridges, did you notice in Voyager the distinguishing characteristic of many different Delta Quadrant species (not all by any means) was their nose and adjoining area. I guess that it was the cheapest thing for the Makeup Crew to do to make them look different.

I knew that response was coming.

Bajor is one of my favorite maps in the game in terms of design and architecture.

But there really isn't much reason to go there.

Like I said earlier, I do like it, and for many of the reasons people mention (reload on some basics, enjoy the map which is nicely done), but yeah, they need a few more things to do outside of earlier game missions. Otherwise, it kind of feels wasteful. I mean, there are a dozen places to buy the same basic food items over and over again. Surely they could put other things in those places. For example, if I can buy hasperat at a kiosk, make something really special available at the little cantina further down the road.

Why just in the span of a few years, shouldn't it drag for longer?

I like Bajor. I go there every so often. The devs did a great job on the map. Sure, it's a bit boring, but then it's just a place to refuel/reload/check your bank.

    Same here.

We also have Undine Infiltration ground PvE. Devs did a good job to turn the social/story map into an action one and also one which isn’t “entirely about DPS” for a change. Too bad one can only enjoy it as premade to sort out trolls and/or those who can’t comprehend more than one line to read.

I love it. It's relaxing, has a good environment, changing time of day, and very few people. I hope people keep not liking it.

    Hint hint nudge nudge devs

why not more festivals and less grumpy groups of bajorans still complaining about invasions

I like going to Bajor. It's peaceful. I like the music there and sometimes I'll park my character by the fountain if I'm working on other documents and chatting to my fleetmates. There's also a foundry mission there which is just someone makign a house which was rather pretty.

Also, if I'm just wanting to go the bank or something, I'll zip to Bajor instead of DS9 as it's quieter and loads faster.

Which vendor is the one that gives 50%? I've been going to the guy on Drozana, but it is a bit out of the way.

My bajoran captain usually goes there to visit his parents when he's on shore leave.

I think one of the points of this thread is that we've *all* seen his parents there. ;D

The game is full of social zones that nobody has any practical reason to visit outside episode missions. Bajor is not alone.

Then again, people probably wouldn't like having to visit all those social zones all the time anyway.

If the American south can still be furious about losing the right to own slaves 150 years ago I think the Bajorans can have the freedom to kvetch about Cardassians for three decades.

I don't mind Bajor. It's all the Bajorans there who irritate me.

Planet of Hats. Good for the 60s. Started fraying apart by the time the 90s ended.

    ...

You know, I know everyone loved the Dominion War... and don't get me wrong, some of the best Trek episodes came out of it... but I always preferred the local stuff and would have been fascinated by a series showing both Bajor and Cardassia evolve into mature space cultures ready to put the past behind them.

I'm sure Garak would remain awesome in that situation too.

(While the complaints about Voyager not having any faith in its premise are valid, it strikes me that DS9 had the same problem. It's just that DS9 found a good replacement for its original premise while Voyager never did. Enterprise forgot what its premise was until it was too late.)
