24H of anniversary handins lost.

Really - another 2.5H downtime???
I've finally go the time, after facing a 1GB download and numerous bugs, to try and actually complete one of the dailies to earn a Krenimin science ship and you shut the server down for 2+ hours.
1 day gone. Progress: 0. Thanks.

    You'd rather they allow the bugs to continue, preventing you and others from making any progress for the remainder of the event?

    OP, take a moment and meditate on the practical implications of tailoring server downtime to every players individual schedule.

    Some of these bugs are major, the extra maintenance is welcomed, still hoping this emergency patch deals with the client crashes

      Oh look.. The guy with the handle 'I hate PWE' has a complaint.. How unusual.

      In other 'shocking' news, today is a day that ends in Y, the sun came up this morning, and humans still require Oxygen to live.

      There is plenty of time to get your precious ship.. just calm down. Some of you people need to take video games a lot less seriously.

      No, no. They should give us all of the prizes right away, for free, because we have been slightly inconvenienced.

      My forum handle is the unfortunate consequence of PWE taking the game over from Atari when I originally tried to re-activate my account and the process was really really buggy because I couldn't remember my password to log into my Atari account to migrate it to a PWE account, but the password reset form required a PWE account. By the time I got it working I was really REALLY annoyed and every one of my usual usernames was taken so mistakes were made.

      And now I can't change it, so yeah... I seem to be stuck with it because the forums use our login name rather than a chosen display name. :/

      Anyhow, I *DO* appreciate the maintenance. But my timezone, and job, mean that I am now 24H behind, with zero progress. So I am going to have to wake up really early this weekend, to try and roll the 20H cooldown back a day.

      At least the patch files are up early in the maintenance, so I can get my 2MB connection started on updating.

      Some of these bugs are exactly what we ran into last year!

      As i said in another thread do the FE, first time per char you get 400 pics as one of the rewards which will save you 10 days. Plenty of time to finish the ship.

      In fact, you need not be upset. Most likely, you wouldn't been ablr to complete the daily mission anyway, because of the bugs.
      Starting from yesterday's maintenance, I tried three times to complete the daily mission with 3 different sets of locations. And guess what ? Every single one of them had a bugged instance in them, making the mission impossible to complete.

      So you didn't lose anything, except maybe frustration for fruitless attempt :D:D:D

      I don't know if it was true; but I saw one person suggest that they had success doing a different ground instance that offered the correct colour of Omega particle. The quest didn't really care about the location - just the colour.

      op if you got no place to some consideration in the middle of all that entitlement tripe, then you are on the wrong game. i would suggest you reconsider your position and realize that one day lost isnt a big deal.

      I agree with the OP.

      There should never be server maintenance at all!!!!

      Bug patches and content updates be damned!!!!

      I want a refund!!!!

      Now back to reality... hopefully the patch will correct the omega particle problem I and most other people likely had yesterday.

      It's dead Jim...Most cannnot complete the event so the patch is an emergency. It shouldn't have been launched as it was yesterday since it is broken for "most".​​

      No. The issue last year was on just one location which was Starfleet Academy IIRC. This is a new issue completely.

      I have now lost 2 days worth. Couldn't complete it yesterday and cannot today as its still bugged. Same issues as last year.

      Think about it, if I accept the Tholian Red Alert one day I do not run it until 20 hours later, I can immediately pick it up again, run it again after the thirty minute Cooldown and turn it in again. Check that today. You may be able to finish yesterday's and then get today's and do that and turn that in as well.

      In order to complete the daily, you need to get the mission from Q. Just collecting Omega Particles does not count for the daily toward the Event Ship.

      Nope. There was at least one space location that was missing the particles. It doesn't matter if it was one location or a dozen, they were missing last year and they are missing this year. Although the places that I visited that the particles were missing, it seemed like the mission was confused on the ground vs. space aspect.

      That would work if I could complete yesterdays mission. But as the emergency patch has made it even worse I cannot do that. the game is now unplayable. Every single zone change makes the game crash. Yesterday it was only every other zone.

      I had zero game crashes while running about yesterday. I hope it doesnt spread. With all the travel/zone changes needed to finish the dailys, this could be a real pita. Fingers Crossed

      No zone crashes for me, finished yesterday's quest and there is a 6 hour cool down. Can run it again when I get home.

      Just finished up yesterday's with a trip to SB 39. Turned it in and got today's with no problem. Will go out and get them, see if I have any issues with Andoria. Bajor, and SB 39 (again).

      That's what they did in 2012. "Fly this ship. Like it? Good, because it's yours." Now we have to log in every day to grind a daily just because Cryptic/PWE/etc. want to show a prettier graph for player metrics in their quarterly reviews.

      Starfleet Academy, Bajor space, and ESD space were broken. Bajor space in particular had no particles showing up at all. Sound familiar?

      At least they caught it real early. Besides... play the FE and you get a pretty big jump too.

      "Play the FE" doesn't help players still trying to complete last years project who may not have extra days to waste and need every daily on top of the FE.

      The damn apologists just need to quit it. It's okay to acknowledge its broken, it's okay to ask for it to be fixed; and it's certainly ok to ask for the event to be extended.

      See were given explicit expectations and they failed to deliver. Asking to make the right and being told to deal with it comes across as incredibly victim-blamey. Don't be that person.
