Winter Event

Last year, I just missed being able to get my Breen ship reward. RL concerns kept me offline. Disappointed, I found other games to play.
I returned this year expecting to be able to finish the reward. It was not to be, as Cryptic decided to welsch. I had waited well into the event to log back in, so again, no ship this year.

My fleet has been willing to spend considerable rl money to pay-to-win. So, I'm more - or - less a burden to them despite a T6 ship.

I really liked this game. Back to hibernation I suppose. Why should I spend money to support this? I'll just run doffs and f2p when I feel like it until next year if I don't totally lose interest by then.

Oh and btw cryptic... I'd have bought a life membership and a bunch of stuff a couple of years ago when I was more enthusiastic. You made it so hard to get through the buying proccess with your ridiculous security proceeedures that I gave up and decided to just f2p.

Perhaps by next year, I'll have aquired enough wealth to buy gear so I can keep up with my pay - to - win fleet mates.

There's going to be another free ship to grind for in 2 weeks. We don't know what its stats are yet, but they should be in the same league as the other free T6 ships from events.

Edit: Also, your first post seemed to indicate that you already have another T6 ship. (Correct me if I misread.) The T6 ships in the C-Store are actually usually superior to the free event ships as far as stats go. (With Lock-Box/Lobi ships being superior to C-Store ships usually.)

Support 90 degree arc limitation on BFaW! Save our ships from looking like flying disco balls of dumb!

Not the point really. I feel ripped off. I just missed making enough races last year and waited a full year for the reward. I return to find that not only can I not use last year's tokens.. I don't have enough time to make it this year either.

Yes I own *several* C-store T6 ships. Unfortunately none of them are even close to keeping up with my fleet for STFs and the like, so it was a complete waste of money for me. To even begin to upgrade I'd need something on the order of a Xindi Aquatic Narcine Carrier. (400,000,000 ec at last check. ) I suppose I could invest $300 in keys and hope to get something nice via rng. I could afford it... but this game isn't worth it to me.

And now I'm getting savaged repeatedly. In one recent mission I died 10 times in a row, within seconds of respawning each time.

I have roughly 8 characters.. 10s or 100s of thousands of fleet marks and dil...perhaps 1/2 dozen T6 ships and I'm ready to hand the lot to some random noob. I frustrated as hell with being killed almost immediately.

Cryptic.. I really don't appreciate being blocked out of getting a simple party favor.

You could have slotted last year's ship and left the project unfinished. Evrn without knowing about old currency being retired, most people who didn't finish did just this.
Then your "slotted but unfinished" ship project could have been finished in December 2015. Yes, you would have been able to finish it with any combination of pre-2015 currency and 2015 currency. If you chose not to do this, you missed out...unless the old project is *still* slotted and you have enough total currency, then you CAN still finish it.

above having a T6 ship you really need mk14 rare or better weapons consoles and such, in fact even a T5U ship maxed out with mk14 rare+ gear can hold its own against a T6 ship with a similar setup in the toughest battle.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

What are you flying now that the Sarr Theln (I assume, from your mention of the Xindi carrier as an upgrade) is the difference between getting spawn-camped and contributing/succeeding?

If your fleet is so full of pay-2-win people that you feel forced to follow them just that have a good time I seriously recommend you find a new fleet! Sounds like a horrible fleet to be in if you are expected to have a heap of expensive kit just to have fun with them.

In my fleet we run regular events each week and anyone can join in. Even outside of that there's often private runs arranged in the fleet chat and we are often all hopelessly equipped and make a total balls up of the mission but still have heaps of fun.

And remember: expensive kit a good player does not make.
Seem plenty of people in the best lockbox ships who are utterly useless and often a detriment to the team, and plenty of guys in freebie T4 leveling ships who are a welcome addition to any fight.

lordsteve1 has the right idea. I leave the game when I'm bored of it for a few months at a time every year I've played. While I was away I wasn't in game but I kept up with what was going on in game and what everyone else was doing in general by way of our fleet forum. That you didn't have that connection to the other people in your fleet is what had me sharing his sentiment.

On the surface you are disappointed in things the game itself might not have offered you but I think a better fit for a fleet would make your experience more enjoyable.
