A start flag

fovrelfovrel Member Posts: 1,448 Arc User
Can we have a flag to start the PvE winter race instead of the system as we have it now. I am often knocked out of the mission because someone else interacts with the NPC. If there is a flag to pick up, only one can take it, just as the finish flag of the PvP race. If you miss it, you just wait till the next one spawns. Unless it is intended to TRIBBLE off players off course. Leave it as it is then.

Just switch to a less populated instance..

You would probably face the same issue with a Flag like you are now.. As soon as it pops, the other players would be spamming the "F" key.. I'd venture to guess, folks start spamming the "F" key as soon as they get to the Breen.

The game will always have the "It's all about ME and you sux" players that (1) can't wait their turn; (2) Trolling other players (3) or just general jerks.

Back in the day, there was a way to "vent" for that kind of TRIBBLE.. Just follow the offender and pound them with snowballs.. They used to have a Kick-Back, and iirc.. Frozen, if you hit them enough times.. Would muck them up in the PvE, or the PvP races.. :O)

But alas, other folks would just randomly select racers and pound them with snowballs.. So, the KB and Freeze was removed against other players..

    Bottom line.. Just switch instances..

It is not that the first race has a better reward than the next, hence I do not mind taking another one, but sometimes I have to run back and forth at the quest giver. BTW that guy could also be placed at the start or let taking the quest transport you to the track. Why do we have to interact with two NPC's to do one mission?

"In theory", Mr. Racetrack taker is the start flag.

However, there's a delay between your hand going up (saying I wanna race) and the prompt to start a race disappearing. Thusly, someone else can "start" the race, and "overwrite" your race request.

If it were inverted (prompt disappears, then hand goes up), that would curtail the ability for trolls to troll...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

I think it is more complicated. On Nukura ground there is a mission where you have to destroy objects by interacting with a pop up, since there is a bar that has to be filled up, another player can also interact with the pop up and you both can destroy the object. There are two explosions. In the Winterland you are transported to the race track and unable to move. When another player interacts you are not transported to the track and held so you cannot move when the race is counted down and disqualified for not being on the track.

A simple solution would be to have the race track widened over the starting NPC, so you cannot get disqualified for being off track. What harm for gameplay could that have? You may end up running together with another player. And? Will that give you a bad night of sleep?

Simple solution for me has been, if someone comes up behind me while I am waiting to start and I think they might try to 'cut in' ahead of me, I wait for about a second after the race prompt appears. If they jump in ahead of me their hand will go up, and I then hit 'F' and *they* get to fail and go back to the NPC to reset the race.

I've yet to find someone who is intent upon waiting me out just to troll me. If I find someone *that* jacked up, I'll just switch instances.

cryptic wont do anything about it. so you have several solutions to your problem, wait a few minutes longer until it is clear to wave your hand, dont play it or try butt in and wave last. regardless, complaining here wont do anything.

at the end of the day though slightly annoying its not that big enough of a deal to require a re-wright of the game mechanics.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Someone once said in chat that they do a 'false wave' (use the 'wave' emote) to fool any trolls, then do the actual wave to start the race.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

Yeah, it's aggravating, but nobody cares.

Enforcing basic courtesy might cut into someone's bottom line.
