Hello Cryptc. I have Huge Quality of Life Improvement Suggestion.

jaymaverick007jaymaverick007 Member Posts: 116 Arc User
I find that the Pvp ques regularly sit empty except between the times of 1-4 pm central time. I don't think this is a matter of just the lack of Pvpers. I have often sat in a que with 4-7 people and waited 3-4 hrs and never have it pop. Then I have found some days that it was filled and still did not pop. I think this is a bug.

My suggestion is this. Please Consider redefining the minimum number of people allowed in a pvp que to 3 people so that it pops with just 3.

If you can set it so that the match minimum is split into a 1 vs 2 every time I would be so ever grateful. Once this match is started it will allow for other players to join existing matches more easily and eliminate the extreme wait times.

As new people Join each match the teams can adjust alternately as such, 1 vs 2, then 2 vs 3, then 3 vs 3, then 3 vs 4, and so on until the match is filled.

Some people may complain at 1st about having uneven teams however this system would prevent the situations that occur regularly. Many times people that have waited several hrs for a que to pop must leave for real life situations.

This often causes people to drop out during the match more often myself included.

I know lots of people do not like hearing about Pvp. However If you check my purchase history you can see that I am a huge supporter of the game and star trek. I often buy things I really don't need or want. I do some of this just to help and support this game in hopes that it will grow into something more every year.

I absolutely love Pvp in this game even though many may call it broken beyond belief. I still love it and believe it is an important aspect of this game. I find it great fun and if your willing to put the time into working your build and learning your traits and practice with in pvp anyone can be competitive. This does not mean you have to win them all or any of them. Competitive may just be going down with a good fight. Some people do not see the fun in it. That is fine everyone has their own tastes.

It is common in our culture for people to think that they must prove them selves to everyone. As people mature though, they learn at some point in their lives that they do not have to prove themself to everyone they meet and then they find a sense of peace and well being they never knew before.

When people come into pvp for the fun of the challenge and the experience of learning what works and what doesn't against different situations abilities and unique personalities of each player you face. You can find an everlasting enjoyment.

That is where I am. I love pvp and it is pretty much the only aspect of this game that draws me back in again to play it over and over. I love all the pve content too. However I do not find playing the same missions over and over again any way near the fun that I find pvp.

Please help with this quality of life improvement for the game. I have a big feeling once that you will see many more people drawn back into the fun of what was pvp. The wait time is what kills it, not only for pvp but also for the pve ques. No one wants to wait hrs to go play a mission that is not fun and not the way anyone would want to spend their free time.

Suggestion: Refine the topic title to "QoL suggestion PVP"
The current title looks messy and invites spam.

As for PVP, in its' current shape it's better to remove it all together and not waste resources.

The only way PVP has any future is to use ships with premade layout and disable any traits or doff/boff powers.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I wanted to catch the devs eyes and maybe hope they think it is a good idea.

I don't see that this would use a up a lot of resources to do. It would probably be very easy for a talented dev which there are.

Also if you get rid of Pvp all together I would be very very bored. :( I hope that will not happen.

I have no problem with the traits and or powers as is It just takes along time to acquire them and find what works for you in pvp. I don't want them to spend lots of resources on this as it has not been given much of anything for years.

As far as the post I know its not perfect. I went back to edit it. however it will not allow me to. also Im not perfect nor will I ever pretend to be. I do however thing a good idea is a good idea. Where ever or whom ever it comes from. I hope that the devs think something like this may help the situation.

As it is right now there are over 16 people in the que for arena and for some reason it is not popping. I should post this in the bug area but also is this a bug? Why will it not pop some days?

Mmm, I think it's better to post this to the PvP section.

Pvp is in a bad state nowadays cause the all T6 mastery and all other junk people use now, my last favorite (most recent I experimented with) used to be tac pilot ship with vonphs+baltim and astika traits for a while (and two others which aren't as OP) on a char with full pilot and most of intel (bar the ground stuff) - but to be honest, it's boring, glitchy and gimmicky (it was fun first few runs I guess), so I stopped doing that, and instead use the ship/character only in PvE.

I still occasionally enter a queue with my main account with bop vaper I love so dearly (Fleet Norgh) but with so much immunity passives it isn't nearly as fun as it used to be. There is just a huge disparity between the players now, and it rendered a lot of the builds obsolete, which in turn made a lot of old and good PvP players leave.

Cryptic says PvP community is (a very vocal) minority, they said PvP overhaul is scheduled, but they themselves have no fixed date for these improvements, I do know they'll do it, but it probably won't be any time soon. It's priority system with Cryptic, and PvP is low as a priority, as it doesn't benefit the majority of player base.

Before that happens, though, I don't see the queues filling up as they used to.

This game was made for PVP. If it can be saved? It should be. PVP invites a whole new level of player. It would be nice to queue with someone who wasn't use to facerolling the keyboard. Try facerolling a PVP player, see what happens.

Im not sure it is such a minority. Last poll they made Pvp came in 2nd I believe or at least 3rd for next thing on the list. Not sure where that is but I will look for it.

Sorry, still not ever going to be in the mood to queue up for another wallet warrior slide show of spam cheese. Not fun.

no one will make you. Im not asking you to join. Just be respectful of those that do enjoy this gameplay aspect. Just as you would wish others to respect your tastes for pve or what not. No one is asking you to participate in something you don't like. but there are many many, many more pvpers that have played this game and will bring back their crazy activity to just pvp more.

Eventually pvers get bored to and go away until the next content comes out. pvpers stay around and keep pvping. Trust me. But I understand the frustaations toward some immature pvpers and pvers. they can be disrespectfull, but not all pvpers are like that I am not, nor will I throw all of any one group under the bus the way pvpers have been treated for a vast majority of time. but we still are here even though people keep giving pvpers grief.

I'm not big on pvp and this could be one of the reasons. having to sit around and wait for the que makes the experience worse when you do not have much of a taste for it in the first place. Fixing this might cause an increase in usage of the system and make it a better experience for everyone.

    TLDR

Well, other than knowing the OP kicked it off talking about PvP AND empty queues. Really, couldn't think of two more hot button topics.

This seems like worth trying. Doesn't seem like it would be hard for the Devs to implement.

Why the negativity towards the OP? The OP is seriously trying to respectively address an issue in STO that honestly needs to be looked at. There are groups of people that play this game for the PvP aspect; they are a strong community that enjoy putting builds together and testing them out. It's honestly a letdown if you queue and can not get anything started. I think the OP has a right to try and start a dialog.

Irrelevant as this is the same post (technically) that's posted at least once a week. A simple search of the forum would have show the OP that. PvP is broken because the game went DPS mad with boosting NPC HP so high that in PvP DPS is a case of 'sneeze' at the enemy and they die. That's not too mention spawn camping being a major part of why PvP in this game is so bad! It would be better they remove PvP queues all together and work on 'Exploration' and 'PvP Battlezones' that scale to players!

I don't pvp, here is my 2 cents, if the system que requirements would drop the requirements by 2 players needed every 10-15 minutes server side and just launch what is in the que at the time it finally hits the total of players in it, the problem would be solved for those looking for a match.

Because cryptic doesn't do anything for pvp. It's slowly been eroded to the point we're at now and they clearly don't care. I enjoyed pvp and used to pvp all the time, but the majority of that community hit the road in the months following the release of delta rising.
