Does Anyone Here Play StarTrek Online On 4k?

You can obviously play on 4k if you have a native 4k screen or you can enable DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) that Nvidia has, AMD/ATI cards also have something similar. This resolution may make the UI a lot smaller but that can be fixed by increasing the UI size in the settings.

I was wondering what system specs you would need to run STO on 4k at a consistent 50-60fps in most places. I remember I got 60fps when I lowered all my settings and was playing on 4k. I currently have it on 2715x1527 but I only get 28-55fps, it depends where I am. The most graphically intense places bring me down to 28fps, my graphics settings are also all maxed. I just can't go back to playing on 1080p again for a stable 45-60fps in all places, I notice the difference enough so I prefer playing on a higher resolution.

My Specs
CPU: I7 4670k Overclocked to 4.0ghz
GPU: Nvidia GeForce Classified edition 680 4gb
Ram: 8 GB DDR3

So is anyone here able to play on 4k (3840x2160) or 2715x1527 with a consistent frame rate of 50-60fps? With it dropping no more than 45fps in the most graphically intense places, I remember standing outside the trail to the Snowmen horde invasion in the Winter event brought me down a lot. If you are then please list your specs.

I was going to upgrade my ram this Christmas to 32gb or 64gb but I don't think it would make a difference. I will probably not buy a new graphics card either.

I don't play on 4k, but I run 5760*1080 (which is 3/4 of the pixels if I remember right) on max settings with 60 fps. I have a 2500k currently at 4.2 ghz, a 970, and 16 gigs of DDR3. I think one of the big differences might be if you run it off a SSD or not.

You're going to get drastic framerate drops with heavy activity on the screen regardless of what your setup and visual settings are. I've read that many playing this game on high end systems all have reported sub-par performance from STO. The game engine is just that terrible performance-wise.

My monitor is 720x1080, and that is perfectly good.
I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.

I play on 4K, I have a i7-3770k with 16GB RAM and a GTX 980... max settings, but I tend to turn the AA down in more intense battle sequences with lots of ships on screen, but for most part I get good FPS for 60fps gaming most of the time.

The engine is fine at higher resolutions. I play at 2560x1440 (2K) and it's smooth as silk most of the time. Sure, I'll get occasional hiccups like anyone else, but STO is always one of the better performing games on my system. I play with all settings on Maximum.

    I'm running a i7 4470k @ 4.1 GHZ, 16 GB Corsair Dominator DDR3, and a GTX 970 SSC 4GB. I haven't actually recorded frame rate, if the game plays smooth, I don't tend to worry about it.

    System -

    3570k @ 4.2Ghz
    16GB 1800Mhz DDR 3
    Asus Z77
    2 x HD 7950 xfire @ 1000Mhz GPU - edit 7050 to 7950
Intel 240 SSD for OS Win 10 Pro
OCZ SSD 60GB for STO and LOTRO

    3 X Dell 24" 1920x1200

I can turn everything to Max, 4xAA and run either 5760x1200 landscape mode or 3600 x 1920 Portrait mode using eyefinity and always get more than 60fps except in large player que such as Crystaline or Mirror with mass spaawn where it drops sometimes mid 30 fps

Now granted I am running 6.9Mpx Vs 8.2 Mpx but honestly believe my setup would run 4k no problem in sto, I have 400Mhz spare OC to run on 3570K and another 150Mhz on each GPU and GDDR memory OC which is default at moment.

Only one thing to note, It must run Full Screen as Maximised Window only uses 1 card. Overall STO is light in terms of Graphics Power needed, I can run it on a amd A6 laptop with integrated GPU and it runs fine on med settings 1366x768, totally playable.

I'm curious how it would run on the Lenovo Yoga 900... it has some absolutely monster specs.

    4k screen
    6th Gen Skylake Intel I7
    512 SSD
    16gb Ram

I need a laptop that'll make it through college and that means it has to run STO pretty well, lol.

Would this thing do the trick?

This game has no trouble with 4k resolution its happy to chug along without complaint, just increase the UI size and you are good to go. My rig runs pretty much everything at 4k with ease but the specs are way beyond what you listed.

For your system, the only thing I could see being an issue at 4k would be the graphics card. I never had any of the '6' series from nVidia.
