The Ambassador Class, and her Tier 6 counterpart

I'll start this with a quick question; is the Guardian meant as the replacement for the Ambassador, as a replacement?

When the Guardian was released, most people (including myself) for a period of time assumed that the Guardian was to be the new Galaxy; she looked very similar, and had the appearance of a mainline Cruiser. Obviously the T6 Galaxy found it's way here, along with the T6 Excelsior, and (no doubt) a soon to be T6 Sovereign. I'm not really seeing another strong T6 Cruiser though, I just don't think there's enough variation left for that, with the exception of the Odyssey. The Ambassador was never really a sought after ship, and I don't remember the last time I saw someone flying one..

Have we seen the last of the Ambassador, and if not, what are the chances the ship artists will fix the axis before releasing a new model?

The Samsar was basically the T6 Ambassador with a non-fed skin.
The Guardian was more of a T6 hybrid of the Galaxy and Ambassador.

I see the Guardian as Ambassador's replacement myself. It's multi-purpose support role is effective. The fact it doesn't have a suite of native consoles makes it supremely versatile.

Somewhat of a nit-picky stance there.

Role wise the Guardian fits the same role as he Ambassador did very well, even if its not a literal T6 Ambassador

With the Yamato clearly serving as the T6 replacement for the Galaxy, the Guardian is logically the replacement for the Ambassador.

With this in mind, they really should allow the Ambassador skin on the Guardian and just make it 'official.'

A bunch of ships could have followed and benefited from that formula.

Phantom with Defiant skins, for example, since the Phantom statistically looked like an improved Defiant.

Agreed, they would have hit it out of the park with the Phantom if they had allowed the Defiant Skin from the start. That, combined with the ship trait and layout would have made it a HUGE seller.

Instead, you hardly see any Phantoms anymore because people don't want to fly a pancake.

The Guardian's secondary hull, neck, and nacelles have some design similarities to the Probert / Richter Ambassador model, created based on Probert's original sketches for the Ambassador class, but the saucer is very different.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Yeah, most T6 variants have almost the same BOff and console layout, slightly improved. The two ships are remarkably similar in those respects. Was this the intent?
