Maybe old news by now, but...

I admit I haven't been playing STO as much lately, so this may be old news but I only just noticed it yesterday. Anyway, there used to always be a ton of doff missions that rewarded anomalies/crafting materials(don't remember the name of the mission type) in pretty much any space sector you were in. However now I hardly see any of those missions. I assume some change was made?

Yes, you get Mats from Admiralty missions now, and the returns are better than any doff mission of old.

I know how the forum loves to spread misinformation, but this is a bug and they're working on a fix. Both Bort and trendy have stated so both here and on reddit. It's been bugged since the launch of the Admiralty system - hence people's leap in logic - but that system was never supposed to replace anything. It was intended as a help with the xp grind from 50-60 and the spec point grind from 60 and onwards.
I think, and this is my own personal theory mind, that one of the reasons it's taking so long is that they might be taking the chance to fix all the things that went wrong when they changed sector space and which was never really addressed. Just prior to S11 launch an number of the bug hunting squad and a couple of ordinary players did a huge job in locating where the Current Map problems were and how they affected the doff missions available. If that is what they are doing I can see it taking a while, but last message on this was the maintenance before last where the message was "we're still working on it".

Sorry for the long rantish comment, I'm just sick of people's baseless jumping to conclusions without a shred of evidence (and quite a bit going in the other direction if they could be bothered to look) and spreading of false rumours. I'll just go back to playing now.
Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end of it.

fixing bugs related to the doffing system has always been an ultra low priority, it wouldn't surprise me if it stays like this for a long time

It's a "bug." Of course it's a "bug" that just conveniently pushes people to the A.S.S. for Crafting Mats.

I don't know about anybody else...,

But I personally have no problem with Cryptic pushing me conveniently toward an A.S.S.

    Dang it! Beaten to it!

Anyway, as said, bugged, but Admirality pays out nice as well.

Excuse me y'all....but did anyone else realize theyre not putting harvest nodes in the episodes anymore?
None in dawn whatever season so far, maybe three in the entire iconian war season. Did they purposely discontinue that? So how does one continue there crafting habit, im trying to run a business here.
So there is the A.S.S., queues, turn in animals during events?

Patrols? There's always been a ton of them there. If you've done all the patrols, make a new character and start over?
(I'm assuming you mean the scanning things that give you r&d mats, since I've never heard them referred to as harvest nodes.)

Harvest nodes are the insider dev term they use, but yeah those anomalies that you scan and the wavelength game that appears. Older seasons there are at least 2 or 3 in each space and ground map of an episode, now bubkis.

They confirmed it was a bug.. and then forgot about it.

It's not even mentioned in the patch notes as a known issue. They just completely abandoned this and decided not to fix it.

There was some chatter about the DOFFing regional boundaries being invisible after the sector space revamp. Fingers crossed this bug gives them time to rejig how that works so it's more intuitive. Would a colorful astrometric overlay be possible? Personally I'm sad to be missing out on Trade commendation assignments with commodity rewards since they don't appear in the Dyson sphere since the bug. I thought those were a nice way of doing something for myself while helping to advance Armada projects. You can still find Gather Samples exploration assignments (that award the mats the OP was wondering about) in the sphere.

I've been getting Salvaged Technology like a rock star in the Admiralty system. Even the extra ECs (at least 4 million total at this point) add up to an otherwise worthless extra mirror ship for my ship roster.
I've been saying that no one needs Admiralty to play. Gotta admit though....I enjoy things a little more with it.

Let's hope it gets fixed. Admirality gives nice rewards regarding crafting mats, but you can only start it at level 52. New characters will get behind if they cannot farm mats early on.

Yeah, exactly. Saying you can get them from the admiralty system is a completely bogus response to anyone who doesn't have a max character.
