Donation Event t6 ships

I just came back to STO and saw a cool event going on where you can donate to anti-bullying (this is something dear to my heart) for some t6 ships. Only to find them all out, I looked at the numbers and it said they'll be 2500 packs of these. Now I know STO does not have that many players who are willing to spend any amount of money on ingame stuff. So who the heck donated $10 many times to get many of these ships just to sell for ingame (FAKE) money.

Theyre account unlocks buddy so they cant be sold for anything in game. I missed them myself they sold out in like 2 hours. And it was 10 bucks cor THREE T6 ships one of which is unique.. So $10 for $90 worth of goods plus the t1 items they picked is a damned good deal so naturally people were chomping at the bit for it.

There are many more than 2500 willing to spend money on this game. They sold out so unbelievably quick... You need a dose of reality.

I know I bought mine the moment I saw the sale go up. By that time there were only 1500 left.

    Flaming, trolling, or DOOM! thread?

They were gone in a few hours to people who wanted the ships for themselves or a friend, and the ship sale raised $54,000 for the charity.

You can still donate even though you won't get shipped.

While true, by the time that sort of thing started to happen the T6 ships were long gone. I also know of some people that don't spend money on the game normally but they sure has heck whipped out their credit card to get in on this. Exclusive mirror designs and Leeta were the driving points for them.

Leeta is actually really good. A bit entertaining that she uses photonic decoy though. I kinda want to get a full set of photonic BOFFs and have them using photonic decoy now...

The OP needs a tin foil had and a cold splash of water, does he really think that a few individuals bought up "$10 ships" 2500 times to turn around and sell? And arent enough people to want to donate 10 bucks for $90 worth of ships??? What a dope.

I got over $110 worth of DLC and a donated $14, i guess i must be a friggin space whale.

There were (are) obviously a lot more people willing to spend money on this game than just 2500, because as mentioned, they sold out disgustingly fast. This is actually an example of a fundraising event short-changing itself too, because had they not been in such limited supply, they probably would've raked in over twice as much money.

Anyway, as mentioned, people can't sell them any more than they can sell the various ships they buy from the C-Store. On top of that, more people play this game and are willing to give it money than you seem to realize.

If you have a killer ground team, photonic decoy is hilarious in ground BZs. If the decoys don't die in combat they will wander off towards the nearest enemy. This may result in said enemy coming after you. It's hilarious on Nimbus.

Okay, so we don't have 2500 players willing to pay 10$. I guess Cryptic will have to live on less than $25k then. For ever and ever. I know that in the business wages sometimes aren't as high as you'd think they would be, but I had no idea that quite a few employees have to do on 25K combined over 5 years...

Bought two bundles, missed the T6 the first time, grabbed them the second when they put up the 75 bundles that got canceled.

Thing is...I already have every T6 in the bundle. Mirror Guardian was the only new T6 ship I picked up. So why would I buy twice? Because its a great charity cause, it offered really good value even without the T6 ships (I picked up $35 worth of ships for $10 each time), and I was able to gift out the other bits to my Fleet mates who were unable to partake.

Events like this, when run well and with good backing from Cryptic, can only result in a boon to the company's PR.

And if you think there aren't people who are willing to throw money at either a cause like this, or a game (no matter how tarnished/bugged/etc) that features something they love, well... your logic is sadly flawed. The constant ship winner pop-ups in game are proof of that alone.
