Thanks, I guess its my fault again, not reading it through :s . The TRIBBLE keeps getting better. This has left such a sour taste, I wish I would have learned from the Risa event and better yet from buying the Life time subscription, other than the 500 zen which is nice in and still nothing at the captains table. They should make everyday a 20% of Life time subscribers. Its going to have to be that good to make this up to me. Wasted my time getting these photos just to be screwed out of them before the next event. Cannot wait for the next anniversary event TRIBBLE. Its even going to better.. For those who fell they need to ask how can I say that when they give you such wonderful trade in options, guess you didn't do it for the reason I did, spent the money I have. My attempt to live by reason and logic with no interference from emotion is spent..

Live long and prosper Cryptic !
To all others, good day to you. See you out there!

It's going to be so much fun when they retire the anniversary Q'mendations. :| I'm not saying I can confirm it, but with the Lohlunat and the Q-pics already being retired, 300 bars of gold latinum say it's going to happen. I no longer see any reason to waste bank space on it.

As stated by many Parisians, "No need to pray. These attacks will not stop the French from loving and enjoying life. To give up hope and live in fear is what the enemy wants. Let us not give in to them."

That being said, there was already a thread on that topic that is now closed. Let's keep this one on topic, please and thanks. ;)

The big thing at the end of the day that I really want to know that I don't feel we've been given adequate explanation for is why, after so many years, is this just now being considered an issue? I get it that they want people to run the event and what not so making the currency exclusive to that particular year I can get. However overall I still see no legitimate reason for the ships themselves to be removed with no plans as of yet for alternate acquisition. Overall it screws over everyone that seeks to complete certain sets by making them impossible to complete. This means I am no longer able to complete my breen setup like I want. This is going to do nothing but cause the same problem that folks have with the Samsar being tied into the 4 piece command set. Yes people can say "well the set bonuses aren't that great so you're not missing anything," but at the end of the day that's not their decision to make for their fellow player. Overall people should have the option. At some point, somehow, these breen ships and the samsar need to be made available through an alternate means of acquisition if they would be to remove them from the winter event like this.

At the end of the day it's a very heavy handed solution to something that has a very simple fix. If they want people to spend time doing the event and so on beyond just getting the ship, this is certainly going to cause the exact opposite of that. As a gold member it makes me angry that I won't be able to complete my breen setup. it also makes me angry that once more we have another Samsar style debacle that doesn't need to be. it's starting to be a problem by introducing sets that are tied to certain other unobtainable items. Doing stuff like that really needs to stop as it's bad for business since it does nothing but infuriate the player base and adds broken items. If people are never able to complete the sets then they have no motivation to even go for them at all. If it was like the Odyssey and the Ambassador then this wouldn't be an issue since both of those ships aren't tied into active sets and can still be obtained by alternate means.

After they have the ship I don't see a reason why many people are going to want to run the event anymore after that. I get the wanting people to be on equal footing at the start thing. However I do not buy the "exclusivity and collectability" thing as it's an oxymoron. The currency change I can see. Beyond the currency change I fail to see what purpose this serves other than adding more unnecessary artificial barriers between players and something. I can say for myself I have no motivation aside from just getting the ship to really stick around after I have it. Perhaps an alternate means will be introduced to acquire the missing ships. However as a gold member I'm still extremely disappointed and angry at these events.

What's there to understand... it's about the metrics. You want a ship... log in each day and do a simple quest and get it at the end of X number of days. You start on the same footing as everyone else each time. If you want it faster, exchange it with Lobi and get it day 1. Feel free to buy zen or trade dil for zen or buy keys off exchange with EC... you want to get a head start for next time? sorry that's not fair to others... no one is forcing you to play STO, it is also F2P. Also they have now made it so you get account unlocks... initially they had you grind each ship on each character... there was NO unlocks. This new method is way better, sure you cant save up for next time or use what you have saved up. But those things will no longer be an issue the year after... this from someone who have 1000s of photos and Qmendations.

That's not really the issue. It's retiring the ships that's really buggin everyone. They should at least add them to the lobi store.

If they are retiring the Sarr Theln I won't be taking part in the winter event this year. All the Breen ships should be available during the winter event.

For those that don't see the store buyback tab, have you tried double-clicking the Q-pics? That used to directly open the store and the tab.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

    For those who are questioning:

Keep in mind that they want 25 log-ins this year, not once to claim and see you in 6 months for Risa...

And then for those who stockpiled on multiple alts, they can repeat this each year for however many alts years...

This is why they're going "exclusive currency for each year"...

Absolutely this. They want people actively and consistently online. That is the whole point of these events.

By invoking the exclusivity clause, they make it abundantly clear that they're not handing out rewards for showing up whenever players feel like it. You have to be online and participating in the event every single time.

I can't really argue with that. Eliminating or reducing the alt-grind was a necessary step that I'm glad they took. I would argue that they need to redesign the events so that people have a choice of activities to complete instead of forcing people to do the same old, same old every year. I would mind the grind requirement far, far less if I had 2-3 different activities to choose from each day and completing any one of them fulfilled the participation requirement for that day.

I agree with you on that. I'd actually like it if the daily was a kind of wrapper mission which rewarded you the picture once for your first run of any of the Winter/Summer event 'missions'. So say you could pick up the winter one and your first run of the Snow Borg mission would give you the photo, or maybe you want to do the Gingerbread town today so you get the reward for that. It'd make it less repetitive for people if they could chose which thing they want to do each day to get the daily reward.

Most likely far too late for them to implement this year, but perhaps they could consider it before the Summer event next year.

I have never done that, I always participate. In fact, I have the Agony Rifle from the Mirror Event, and like every other event, I continue to log in and participate. Even if they did not award Terran marks, I would still participate. This is why I have extra currencies.

I've played, and continue to play by the established rules. I do not agree with Cryptic's decision, I think others should have access to the ships.

I really like that idea. Just make it a daily bonus award for participating in any event. It would make it less repetitive. Might even see more people playing borg snow invasion, or whatever that even was called (which is fun).

Retiring ships, while I personally don't like it and think it's not in the Trek spirit, is understandable from their point of view.
What I really dislike is the forced unslotting at the end of the event. Especially since the precedent has been set for every single event in the past: once you slotted it, you had it forever. The devs announced that at a CC event a year or two ago. I have a couple alts that have multiple mirror and CC events slotted waiting for me to level them up to where I can actually play and earn the rewards. It will take me a long time to get them, but I play those chars in those events every single day I can of the run. I'm in there turning the lights off on the last day.

I have a solution to that though: Either 1) don't unslot projects at the end, or 2) Only unslot them if they don't meet a minimum play requirement.
For example, say 500 pearls are a minimum for showing event involvement. You slot the event, deposit the 500 pearls, now you can wait until next year to finish it. It shows that you were present for most of the event, but maybe real life interrupted and you weren't able to finish. You now have the opportunity to work double next year to finish it and the next one.

As others have said before, just retiring the currency itself is enough to force continuous involvement.

That's just it. Needs more variety and FFS, enough with the christmas theme. Just about every MMO out there themes their winter events with christmas TRIBBLE. This is Star Trek, let's see something different for a change. Break the mold and do something creative and new with the winter events and give us more options for earning the daily event currency.
