New traits for BOffs too hopefully?

So as some of you may know, we're getting our space and ground traits split into to different groups. For non-aliens, we get 9 space and 9 ground. Aliens get 10 and 10.

Truely a great quality of life improvement, and I think I speak for most when I say thank-you devs.

However, as many of you will also notice, they added new traits for our captains to get. In particular, 14 new space traits. I would propose that Cryptic not waste the programming of these new traits on just players, but add them to the pool of traits that BOffs can have upon creation. It would certainly at least lessen the "Embassy BOffs or go home" that's needed to be competitive in space combat.

Discuss!

Adding more to the pool of traits for BOFFs will make it even harder to get ones with some of the traits you'd like and people will still end up using the embassy ones etc. I suppose if they added only 1 or 2 more it would be "ok" but beyond that we'd end up with a boat load more BOFFs with traits you don't want.

I think they should get 4 at white quality 5 at green, 6 at blue and 8 at purple. the first four traits should be a combination of race/class and any open beyond that a learnable trait

Not certain, but I do believe these will effect boffs as well, and probably will be by my guess either still species specific, or finally universal!

BOFF traits need to be looked at because regular KDF & Fed BOFF traits are completely inferior compared to the RRW's complimentary traits of Subterfuge, Infiltrator, and Romulan Operative.

What are the best Feds & KDF have?

    Leadership.... OOOOoohhh!

    Pirate... Yaaaarr!

Everything else just sucks. Every race should bring something special, useful to both space and ground.

I think 4 is fine but we need tone mable to select them. Plus have 3 superior for ur and 4 for epic. Not to mention make all space traits available to all species.

You mean like how it is now? With any BOffs that don't have a space trait being worthless unless they have a really good commander level ability that people might want? The exchange is flooded with these kinds of BOffs. So it will be a little harder to get the traits that you want on your BOffs. Right now, if you don't want an all Human/Saurian/Nausican/etc. crew you can't get the traits that you want on your BOffs period.

It would be nice to have 2 space and ground traits for each race. Having for example a Klingon ship full of Nausicaans may be the best way to do it, but I would prefer a Klingon bridge crew with usefull traits.

Completely agreed. I would be fine if they split up these new space traits among the different species. For example, species A, B, and C can have imposing presence. Species D, E, and F can have innocuous. Etc. This way, all the different races can be useful in space, instead of those select few.

Actually, I had to go back and re-read the announcement because my first take on it was that BOFFs would be similarly affected.

I'm in the 'please don't do this by halves, fix the BOFF imbalances' camp if that's not already a foregone conclusion. I cannot see why Cryptic wouldn't correct the entirely nonsensical state of implementation that has been the Boff space traits availability at present. Every player I know has derided the way this was done since launch.

Well would make boffs worth something again...instead of seeing purple boffs go for a thousand EC.

Well if the Exchange is full of these Boffs, then absent really great Traits commanding high prices, people are too soft hearted. Boffs should be going to the Solyent Green tanks and their essence (Training Manuals) posted instead. ;)

I want to be able to pick traits for Boffs, that would be HUGE.
Thanks for the expansion that had "as much content as the last"

Nah, that is because supply exceeds demand. As long as there are more purple boffs than people need, boffs will sell for very little.
