How to best use radiation-applying weapons? (For example 'Withering Disruptors')

Usually the rep weapons you get from the boxes are of varyingl usefulness, but through coincidence I discovered that the withering photon torpedoes form the Terran rep actually work quite well since they apply shield bypassing radiation damage.

Which skills do work in favour of those weapons? Is it exotic damage or is there something else going on for "radiation damage"?

I know the counter command ordanance set has radiation damage as well and a console to boost it, I wonder if they stack

pretty sure its exotic. Try it in space ... you know, outside a home planet like new rom, put on the weapon, then look at the values, then put on a trash +pgen item, and it will go up if its exotic.

You know, I literally never thought about that. Thank you very much, that's ingenious advice right here pig-2.gifpig-4.gif

According to my tests, partgens do NOT increase withering radiation damage. So maybe it's a thing very, very limited to just the rep set?

Guess so. Would have been nice for the exotic sci boats. FYI flowcaps/weap power do increase the shield drain of the other new torp. And I think, but not 100% sure, that pgens increase the damage of grav torp & crafted gas cloud. I can't remember... been flow caps built for a few months.

If memory serves, to count as "Exotic damage", a particular source of damage must not come from firing a weapon. Hence, this is just "Radiation damage ", buffable only by things that specify such. Contrast with, say Aceton Beam, which doesn't come from a fired weapon, and is therefore Exotic.

I'm sure your DPS is great, but as Kahless said, "a petaQ with high system mastery is still a petaQ." (Well, he should have said it...!)

I'll check when I get home but off hand I think four stats come into play with the Terran Photon Torpedo. I think three weapons stats Starship Weapons, Starship Projectiles, Starship Subspace Decompiler, and Graviton Generators. I believe I boosted the radiation by using the Counter-Command Multi-Conduit Energy Relay console.

And there is a 33% chance to apply a stack of Withering Radiation with the rep. torpedo, and the other non-rep. torpedoes I believe.
