You mean I can put a fan in a sailboat and sail without any wind?

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

Didn't we hear about this half a year ago or something? I'm pretty sure that story has been proven false in the past.

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.p3OEBPD6HU3QI.jpg

ou can find a large discussion about this experiment on the nasa spaceflight forum.

Still unvetted posts on an internet forum. I'm not betting on this until there's a peer-reviewed paper; people can claim just about anything on the internet, and usually do.

I thought I remembered, speaking of peer review, that the experiment was found to have severe flaws in its setup and could not be replicated. And then there was that guy sophlogiston or whatever his name was (I forget) claiming cold fusion had been invented and for similar reasons that one was false too.

Nobody has really completely debunked this drive yet.
They've given scientific reason why it SHOULDN'T work, but just about every independent team that has actually built one, has still come up with results that point toward it actually does.
BTW: NASA didn't do this first, another team in Germany did.

You don't need peer review when there's a video. People can post a video on Facebook, they can't do that with peer-review can you?

People can doctor a video or set up illusions (or even inadvertently create one). Even YouTubers with hardly a budget...see CorridorDigital and brusspup on YouTube for what a less-than-Hollywood budget can do these days. Without replicating the experiment many times by many teams in a variety of conditions, the authenticity cannot be scientifically vouched for in any credible manner.

Videos on YouTube? I commend "Marble Hornets" and "EverymanHYBRID" to your attention. (Or, for the Reader's Digest condensed version, go to Night Mind's channel, where he's done multipart synopses of the series, including decoding the encrypted bits, which last I appreciated because I suck at decryption.) If anything, that makes me more skeptical.

And this last experiment series, as posted in that forum, notes that there are still a couple of major loopholes - for instance, internal heating has still not been ruled out and in fact fits the profile of "energy" production pretty well. (No, I'm not dismissing this because "it's impossible", I'm dismissing this because it's still unverified. William of Ockham pretty well nailed it, back in the day...)
