    1) Yes, you'll get 4 free ships as you level (And a shuttle, but that's a different story.) How exactly and when depends on your faction, but since you're talking about Miranda, I assume Federation... Once you're past level 10 and out of the tutorial mission chain you'll get a "[Promotion]" mission for your new rank. If the admiral doesn't contact you with that mission, it ought to be in your available mission list (bottom button on the left edge of the map, tab "Available") After completing that mission, talk to the ship requisition officer (the admiral would send you to her) and choose "Store." There should be a choice of 3 ships that would normally cost you Dilithium to buy one of which you now can get for free. Now you can switch to that ship either by talking to ship selector (the guy to the right of ship store) or from your status screen (only in space) This repeats every 10 levels (with different 3 ships to choose from) until level 40.
Level 40 free ships aren't the best there is, but they're good enough for most endgame stuff, if you know what you're doing.

    2) http://sto.gamepedia.com/Fleet#Fleet_requirements A bit of warning though... Your own fleet is a big commitment, at least if you want it to be a proper fleet with built-up starbase and holdings.

    3) Yes, the power is called "fleet support," it becomes available as you level It's available to everyone but it has looooong cooldown and only works if you're damaged below 50%. Sci captains also get "photonic fleet" which creates temporary holo-ships that fight for you. There are also several permanent and consumable items that can be used to summon NPC allies.

    1. You can buy a new ship but I wouldn't sweat it in the beginning. You'll get a few new ones as you level up.
    2. Don't start your own fleet. It's a huge commitment in terms of both time and money, and there are so many established fleets out there already for you to join. But if you really want to create one, get 4 buddies in the same instance of ESD and visit the fleet creator (below Quinn's office to the left).
    3. There's fleet support, which you'll probably get as you level up. There are the nimbus pirate and the delta crew, which are mission rewards later on. You could join a channel and ask another player to team with you on a mission, but that's not likely to work (everyone is already playing the game). Or you can just learn from failure and try to improve your build. These missions aren't hard, it's just that the game doesn't teach you what you need to know to beat them.

That sounds like a bug, I can only think of ONE mission you can actually fail, and it's not the 2nd one.

But you can replay most missions by pressing the "replay" button in the episode list, there's a 20-30 minute cooldown on mission replays however.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

Hi, welcome to STO. You dont get access to the next level of ships past the default Miranda class until you hit Lt Commander, level 10. Each 10 levels you should get access to a new (free) ship from Admiral Quinn.

As others, above, have pointed out, you can create your own fleet (but I would recommend against it at first) and you can call in types of fleet support (eventually/depending on your character's profession) but for early-game battles, the default ship is just fine.

If it helps, I've written a (long) guide for new players, which can be found here: http://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1175643/early-decisions-ultimate-newbies-new-players-guide/p1 Also, you can use the in-game mail to ask me questions and I'll reply the next time I log in.

    Good luck! :)

Indeed. (A thought: is it the second tutorial mission?) Nevertheless, you should be able to click on the starfleet button next to the minimap - this opens the Episode tab. Exit the mission to sector space (the galaxy button next to the minimap), hit the episode tab and drop the mission. Then try to select it again, it should work fine. If not, send me an in-game mail, I'm happy to try and share the mission with you again (which should make it work!).

    Good luck!

every once in a while you can't go to the next mission even when you should. Normally, simply pressing the 'L' key or otherwise bringing up the missions panel, go to episodes, find the next one, and click "hail" on the button and it will start up from there. One cause is leveling too slowly, where the next mission isnt available as your level was too low and it fails to start automatically when you do reach the right level. Other times, its just a minor bug.

new ships every 10 levels until 50, approximately. You have to do enough quests to get your first promotion to get the level 20 one, after that, pure level determines it (that is, the first one, at 10, requires you to do a specific mission, or it used to, before you can claim, the rest are not mission based).

science captains can summon ships easier with photonic fleet. Everyone can summon help with fleet support. Other players CAN join you in missions if you get a buddy to help, but its not normally done. THis could be lack of a ship upgrade, and the 2nd most common cause of lowbie death are slow moving big torpedos ... shoot those down and stay a few K away from certain ships like the romulan giant cruiser (DD) etc. Other ppl cant join in progress, but you can restart with a buddy and get the help you need.

oh, and fleets take a large amount of money/resources/time to build up to a useful level. I don't suggest doing this right off the bat, but be aware it can take years to build one if you don't have a bunch of friends donating into it.
