KDF lvl 10 promotion mission?

Never played a KDF character before, but decided to give it a try Saturday... And now I'm confused.

I haven't received level 10 promotion mission, it's not even in the available list. The wiki says that it's no longer in the game, but it also says on the "rank" page that you can still get a free lvl 10 ship as a KDF character... So, is not getting it what's supposed to happen, or is it a side-effect of the 250% XP week and being lvl 14 before finishing the tutorial chains? If that matters, I'm at "Manhunt" right now.

It's given after a certain mission, usually around level 12 when I've done it, the XP boost's messing with your progression rate as you say.

The start of the Promotion process is given at the Mission "Test of Mettle" which is supposed to be obtained around level 10-12. However we are currently in the final week of the Galactic Restoration Event and are under the effects of between +50% to +150% Bonus Experience on all Skill Points and Expertise earned.

This means that at the absolute minimum we are all earning an effective 1.5 times the experience we would normally earn. And if it is as I feared and the event maxed out, then we are earning an effective 2.5 times what we would normally earn. This means people are going to out level the missions that they are on VERY FAST!!!

Just keep playing. I got my level 10 ship at almost level 20 on my kdf on the double exp weekend...

Just a bit of a warning tho...it can get pretty hard if you level up during an exp boost event and are stuck in that starting ship.

I'm past level 20 now. A dialog with J'mpok appeared... but neither of the promotion missions are still there.... Artificial untelligence at its finest. (I'm afraid to just skip missions, because I'm not sure what would happen) And yea... Being stuck in a starter ship is... an experience. :D Or may be an adventure. It totally doesn't make me yell at the game.

And ofc, I need to get to lvl 40... By tomorrow... Because free ship... This is so borged up.

You should have had it by 20. Even double xp events you should have had it by 20. Something is wrong, somewhere.

I mentioned this 'story based ship unlock' on another thread. More than once I was glad to have unlocked an appropriate account wide ship to go to as I levelled. If you don't have that option, I'm not to sure what you can do except 'die well'.

I managed to bull through a few times in the past by stubbornly respawning and re-engageing enemies, but it isn't fun, lacks finesse, and yeah ... I said it isn't fun, right? You still could do that.

If you can team with someone to help you complete the story missions that might help. Enemies are already boosted, and your pal may have a ship that can even you both out a little. If I could get the new season to patch without a bluescreen I would offer to help you myself. Sorry I can't yet.

Stocking up on batteries and stuff may help you limp forward. Look through the Available Mission in your tabs, and see if there are any easy XP you can score to get you closer to your level for the new ship. Is there anything you can do with your current Doffs and Boffs? Are they levelled enough? Are you getting the best boost from the doffs you have assigned? Quicker cooldowns on the abilities you need most, may get it done for you.

That's what I have for you ... sorry it isn't more. I need to get patched somehow, so I'll wish you luck.

Finally got past it, and got both promotions, at lvl 23. The mission right before it ("The House always wins") was again,.. an experience, but doable if you ignore BoPs and go straight for the objective ships, have some heals to keep you going and are prepared to die a lot. And in the second space portion just cloaking for a while until NPC allies firmly grabbed the aggro and attacking on decloak worked very well.

Thanks, and hope your technical issues would be resolved. I was half-expecting the game not to work for me either, playing on Linux, but it just needed to do shader recompilation (or whatever it is STO does for half an hour the first time its launched in Wine.) and everything works as well as for anyone else, so far.

I did this on saturday also. I think I was 22 or 23 when I got the ship.

The mission where I had to kill two comm sats and two freighters in an enemy infested asteroid field was awful in a newbie ship.
