Counterpoint / Assault on Terok Nor.

What about...

Throwing the two PvE missions together so one is instantly run after the other. (Counterpoint then Assault on Terok Nor) and you have a nice Terran Empire themed mission you can dump into the Season 11 mission tab.

P.S. New Mirror Universe uniforms as a reward for all three factions?

The game used to have a precedent for this. When STO launched, "Starbase 24" instance used to have the players start out with the space portion. Once that was done, players had the option to continue down and join everyone else to beam aboard SB24 and clear the Klingon boarding parties from her.

Cryptic stopped that a long time ago though and now just limited it to the space portion. Don't know why.

There are a few reasons why and those that were around the forums know, some will vehemently deny people whining about it and how difficult it was. Why? Starts with Team ends with work. (note this is aside from Terradome not working for the longest time)

Another reason is time length, which kind of doesnt make sense to me because anyone coming out of MMOs like WoW will know when you want to do that "raid" stuff it takes time, coordination and again teamwork, it was very difficult to pub stuff like that to get your prototypes quickly. Maybe it's because the new type of MMO player has the attention span of a gnat, I couldnt tell you, but the decision was made to make everything:

    a) Accessible via a tab, meant no more having to go to the area and LFG (for better or worse)
    b) Segmented. Meaning space and ground were run on their own with no need to tie in any story, back then you could keep running ground and space repeatedly for you chance for a prototype drop for the Omega Gear.
    c) Easy. I'm assuming an aim for the casual players, which arguably helped some with regards to new players being able to keep up with the older, experienced and far more pessimistic hardcore players.

I could go on, and I may sound bitter, but yeah..

Maybe it's because the new type of MMO player has jobs, wives, kids, friends. ...responsibility.
MMO players grew up. They don't all have 3 hours to spare on one mission. And since it's the grown ups with jobs that can spend big on the game, missions now cater to them.

So leave your "better than everyone else cause I can spend 10 hours a day, uninterrupted, on a game" attitude back in WOW.

Kindly read what I wrote again without jumping up and waving a pistol in my face for having an opinion.

Nowhere did I say that spending hours in a game was better or that I was better than everyone else. Take it easy. The first part of your response makes sense, yes the players are older and have obligations, that's life, hence what I said about hardcore vs casual player catering.

    Have a good evening.

My brain is obviously refusing to the process information tonight. So the general consensus is "TRIBBLE it" ?

Quite the opposite. I wish the game had more content like the original SB24 that I mentioned above. A key thing about the transition from Space to Ground combat? It was optional. Once you were done with Space SB24, the game asked you if you wanted to go down. If you said no, NP at all and you leave. If yes, then you went in along with others to go kick some butts on a personal level.

For me, it was one thing to see the guys' ships in space combat. It was another thing to see the same people and fighting alongside them on the ground in the same queued event. The game no longer does that.

Imagine this: Undine BZ. At the end, once the planetkillers are done, the Voth try to come back. They send several waves of ships. The "finale" with the Voth attack is the arrival of a Citadel Ship. The players work to break down her defenses. Once her hull / ship is crippled enough, the space combat ends. People get their rewards for participating. The game asks those that were there if they would like to beam in and fight the Voth on their own Citadel Ship. You go in with everyone that was there that says, "Yes" with more rewards at the end.

Yeah. I once proposed an Elachi Red Alert mission which the participants could fight the space battle over the planet, then drop into a shuttle to deal with the walkers and swarmers, then land and join the cleanup ops on the ground. My plan had a fifteen minute timer for each segment of the Red Alert, and progressing from one to the next was optional. It was received with complaints about being 'forced' to do ground missions.
