XMPP Issues

Hey everyone,

So we've been having issues with the XMPP lately. While some users have been able to use it, others have been unable. We're looking into the cause of it. The team originally attempted a solution during the maintenance window today, but we didn't see the fix we were hoping for. We're looking into alternative solutions.

This thread is meant to consolidate the information and updates in one location. Originally I thought this would be resolved earlier.

The engineering team is currently attempting to change some ports around that may act as a solution for the problem.

Pidgin just connected for me.

We're seeing a lot of fixes, however there's still a stalling login issue and it's having some client problems. We'll continue to investigate.

I know I'm back online as well. So whatever they did, things seem to be working a lot better than they did over the last few days.

Pidgin connected for me, but... I can access the public channels I am subscribed to but I get "Registration Required" for any fleet chats.

I've done some extra testing...

When connecting via XMPP to guilds.crypticspace.com the only "rooms" found are on Tribble for STO.
The fact that Holodeck cannot be seen will probably be why I see "Registration Required" errors for fleet chats I have previously connected to.

When searching channels.crypticspace.com, I see all the rooms OK.

I had Pidgin shut down for about 3 hours to see if it would allow me to finally connect. It has been trying to connect for the past 20 minutes without any success so far.

Edit: Pidgin finally connected! [= Thank you to all of those working behind the scenes!

Just gave it a shot this AM and low and behold Trillian hooked right back up. Thanks for keeping the issue visible to everyone Trendy, it's very much appreciated.

(And people in my friends list thank you, now they don't have to see me login and out for all my alts)
