I need some education in regard to Duty Officers.

Specifically the officer(s) assigned to active space duty. I have a very rare warp core officer and it says he has a chance to temporarily improve ship power on use of any emergency power ability. Is this the only benefit of this officer or is there a general benefit for having him assigned to the ship?

Depends how many emergency power abilities you use. Ship power levels can make a serious difference.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

that listed effect is only active when set to your active roster.

if you use EptX powers often it is a nice effect to have active. There's also one that gives a chance to reduce the cooldowns.

Maybe my question is poorly phrased. Let me try again

I have the officer I mentioned assigned to active space duty. I chose him for that ability but I was wondering if there was also some passive benefit from having him on active space duty as well.

Passive benefit? Um.. aside from the listed ability? no.

DOFF trait benefits listed are available only when the DOFF card is in an "Active Duty" slot.
Otherwise, it is used for DOFFing assignments and those have different rewards.

And I think, DOFF benefits are all passive, anyways....they are not clicky powers. (Unless there is a DOFF I don't have).
The program activates them with no action from you ONCE YOU PUT THEM IN THE "Active Duty" slot.

Collecting multiples without being on Active Duty....does nothing.

There is no 'generic' benefit simply for having the slot filled, if that's what you're asking.

Yes, this was basically my question but I worded it very poorly.

I was wondering if having warp core engineers on active duty increased any stats for the ship. Something like that.

    I have my answer.
