Torpedo: Spread 3 Hitting Kriger in Jabberwocky Before Spawn, Breaking Mission

If you fire a Torpedo: Spread 3 at the Hidekis at the beginning of Jabberwocky, from pretty much any range, it will fire 4 spreads instead of 3, as shown here. When these land, they kill an invisible target (which a parse revealed to be the Kriger, which doesn't spawn until a later objective). Because this target dies, the True Way Reinforcements do not spawn for "Defeat True Way Reinforcements" - because they're already dead. Mission cannot be progressed.

REPRODUCTION STEPS:
Step 1: Pick up "Jabberwocky" from the mission menu.
Step 2: Set up a torpedo boat. The ship with which I encountered this bug was using the following (only relevant gear/passives displayed):
  • Torpedo Pre-Fire Sequence - Terran Task Force T2 Space Passive - +12.5% Torpedo Damage
  • Klingon Honor Guard 2-set (Engines and Deflector) - +25% Torpedo Damage.
  • Attack Pattern: Omega 3 - +26.5% All Damage boost
  • Tactical Team 1 - Buff to Projectile Weapons Training (and Starship Attack Patterns thans to 2 purple Conn Officers on Active)
  • 9 points in Starship weapons Training, Starship Projectile Weapons Training, and Starship Projectile Weapons Specialization.
  • 5x Mark XII Very Rare Photon Detonation Assembly Tactical consoles - +30% Photon Torpedo Damage
  • Protonic Arsenal 3-set (Gravimetric Photon Torpedo, Experimental Proton Weapon, Proton Particle Stabilizer) - +22.9% Photon Projectile Weapon Damage, +3% Critical Chance, +10% Critical Chance with Photon Projectile weapons, +10% Critical Severity
  • Terran Task Force Munitions 3-Set (Terran Task Force Disruptor Dual Heavy Cannons, Terran Photon Torpedo, Ferrofluid Hydraulic assembly) - +13.3% Projectile Weapon Damage, plus the Secondary Torpedo Launchers.
  • Attack Pattern: Alpha 3 - +52% All Damage bonus
  • Decloak Ambush - +15% All Damage
Step 3: Enter Jabberwocky. Complete first dialogues, then cloak.
Step 4: Close to weapons range on the Hidekis. The closer, the easier to reproduce.
Step 5: Activate Tactical Team 1, Torpedo: Spread 3, Attack Pattern: Omega 3, Attack Pattern Alpha 3, and Secondary Torpedo Launchers in any order.
Step 6: Decloak and open fire.

You should see 3 Spread attacks go towards the Hidekis, and a fourth streak off to port/the left. These will impact an invisible target, vanish, and possibly display impact visuals on your shields. When the Hidekis die, the Defiant spawns. Complete the ensuing dialogues and reach stage "Defeat True Way Reinforcements." If you successfully reproduced the bug, no reinforcements will spawn and the mission will be broken.

    That's interesting... both the fact that you can kill a spawn before its trigger (well it is listed as invisible) and also the name of the mission,

    Yea, wasn't it called something else when it first hit Tribble?

    Now I kick myself for not making a note in the STO-wiki article i prepared. In one of the new missions, I disabled the Kriger and another vessel, before I crossed the threshold to trigger the objective. So when I finally did, there was nothing to shoot at, and I was stuck. Transfered out & back in, second time started shooting early, but continued towards the center of the marker of the minimap, and finally triggered the objective, before disabling the relevant ship.

    Guess I have to replay it. It's not huge (just one small spawn before that), as it just needs a slight repositioning of the trigger threshold (before the ships, not behind...).
