Well, I personally think that the MACO/adapted KHG 2-piece set bonus (the shield heal) is a must-have for any character that isn't engineering. The other two sets aren't good for anything other than visuals. (Again, also my opinion.)

IMO when it comes to the Omega sets I like using the MACO/Adapted KHG when dealing with the borg. The Omega set itself is a good set against anything else.

The Omega set is a decent all around set. These days I tend to stick with the Iconian set for it's 33% damage buff activation. But Omega is still good and looks even better. Even if you don't use it, it's a good choice for your away team since it grants team Team Ambush Field Passive for bonus crit chance, crit damage, and damage resistance.

The Maco is a good all around set too. I'm not a fan of the visuals though. Adapted Maco is also generally good but both are not absolutely required to get. I like Omega the best.

Maco set is great for tac's that do ground stf's and fight borg (instant remodulator and shield-heal).
Omega set is a good set, ground stf's and fighting borg (instant remodulator) togetter with a research lab kit
you can have a shield and health heal !!

Overall the Omega sets are good sets. Their special thing is the remodulator which is a great help against the Borg. This feature has no meaning against enemies that do not adapt. You will do fine with your Dyson and Counter command.

With the specialization and reputation traits all the whistle and bells from sets and everything else thin out; it is nice to have, although borg remodulation has no meaning when not fighting borgs, but nothing is mandatory.

I have every set for my boffs but I tend to keep the maco on my sci main. That shield heal is invaluable. Sure its not dps, but i can heal my health six ways from sunday and that shield heal is the icing on the cake. I practically never die. And if your using the rifle your using the set wrong. Thats just there in the second weapon slot for set bonus. :)

Omega is good, but lacks good Resistances (Shield gets 40% Dodge at Mk XIV). Autocarbine is one of the best weapons IMO. I don't like the 2-pc effect tho.

the MACO Sniper Rifle is very bad, the Armor is one of the best Armors in the game.
Never been a fan on KHG.

I want to try and get Counter Command. Only set I have yet to try out.

I agree 100%. It has that special operations vibe going for it.

Borg stf's aside i've found using the Omega or even Maco/Advanced Maco in Voth Battle zone or Kobali to be less effective against incoming fire than the Dyson/Delta/Iconian and Romulan sets in these zones. However the Omega full auto in these zones is very good. Have one upgraded to mk xiv UR on a tact and its a NPC shredder

On a visual level, it's always struck me as the most Klingon looking set in the game. I mean, I love the aesthetics. The weapon irks me though. It looks so cool, but I've just never been able to get behind pulsewave weapons.

The ground set? Probably not, unless they substantially overhauled it from when I used it last. The space set? I, honestly don't know. I've never looked seriously at collecting it simply because I loathe running those missions.

Actually it is a sold choice for ground combat and, not entirely unimportant with mirror universe opponents incoming, it has good resistance against phaser.

The nanoenergy cells (Anti-Coagulant • Kinetic Capacitor • Tachyon Rider • Weakness Finder • Neural Overload) also give diversity.
    E.g. http://sto.gamepedia.com/Nanoenergy_Cell_-_Anti-Coagulant

Sure, you need to remodulate manually when fighting the borg but who pays attention to the borg nowadays.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Any set of ground armor is enough for any elite ground, ground is not space, skill matters way more than equipment.

I make heavy use of the OMEGA ground 3pc. set, as the dodge bonus is very useful, and the auto-carbine mixed with the right traits and tac kit, nets me easily over a 55% expose chance against enemies.

    Sweep and destroy!!!

I eventually got the Omega Set. It is a good choice for all around. But my KDF TAC's Away Team is still stylin' the KHG Sets I got all those years ago by turning in Encrypted Data Chips and Dilithium to CMDR Roxy on DS9. Listening to five grenade launchers go off all at once is a sound I never get tired of hearing. Hard for a Defiler to flatten someone when he is constantly getting knocked on his keister.

The problem is that the nade shot on it is just horrible.
If you want to try a decent Pulsewave the Iconian one is very good.

The permanent costume unlocks for you and your away team alone might make the sets worth completing.

Well, the MACO armor visuals got left behind by newer armors. But KHG armor still looks super cool. Especially with the Be'ves option lol. Here's 1 of my boffs in the basic KHG:

For anti-Borg work, Omega rep sets all include an integrated insta remodulator, so if you don't have a TR-116 I would say it is worth it. Except for the actual Omega set. Having an Auto-carbine for fighting the Borg seems counter intuitive, as Borg tend to adapt faster to Autorifles and Miniguns than they do against sniper rifles. For a long time my main's primary set was MACO. Also, as a Tac, the standard MACO with its Shield Capacitor was helpful.

I'm currently running the Delta set, but I would go back to MACO if I didn't have a TR-116 to fight the Borg.

Very much so. In fact these sets should've been the first ones you got, because they are the best all-round sets. And you don't need all 3 pieces to get it's full effectiveness, unlike the other sets. And Omega is good as an offensive set, especially on Tactical Captains. Even equipping BOFFs with this set gives you the group buff benefit that adds to your offensive abilities.

The only other set that has as good effectiveness is the Delta Set, which is very similar to Delta, but its EMP is extremely useful against the Iconians.

Used to be every single pulse from the weapon had a chance to proc adaptation. It made miniguns and autorifles horrible against them. That got fixed around Season 5 or 6 I think. But, yeah, the auto weapons do still seem to trigger adaptation faster.
