So how many people actually do elite stfs?

I pug so I have never tried any of the elite stuff. Pugs can barely do advanced successfully because people don't know the basic mechanics of them. So with the x100 damage, shield, and hull health in elites it isn't worth it for me. I remember some people asking for harder content, and they got it, but I'm wondering how many people actually run them in their current state.

They're not my cup of tea either. There are some games were I do put on the big-boy pants but for me STO is intrinsically a relaxed game. I appreciate difficulty up to Advanced, but I don't need to take it any further than that (except when desperate for more rewards.)

I pug battle of korfez elite quite often and it succeeds a lot of the time. It's only that one bugged round that keeps numbers low.

I do ground elite every so often and they seem to succeed more than space elite.

I plan to start pugging more elite stfs as my gear is a lot better these days. At the end of the day the worst that can happen in an elite pug is you lose. Hardly the end of the world.

Viscous Cycle for space and some of the ground elites. Still wish we'd get Infected, Cure and Khitomer for elite though.

there is a difference between Elite stf's and Elite stf's..

1 you can do with a decent group and pug it if need be if you got enough DPS on your own or know what you're doing. there are those missions that barely require you to fire at all

2 than you got the Elite stf's where not only yourself but at least 3-4 players of the group need to do heavy dps or massive debuffing or a combination. Having teamspeak and a preset team takes away 50% of the problems but yes you need high dps + debuffing.

If I do elites (korfez and VCE aside I do this with peeps with at least 50K dps which than makes it less painfull)

main problem with the Elite missions is the reward again isn't worth the hassle of getting this team togther if you don't have a 5 man group in your own fleet or friends group.

but yeah I can see it being rediculiously hard for someone who has to give his/her all in an advancedhttp://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1204838/so-how-many-people-actually-do-elite-stfs?# pve.
tactics? to pew pew or not to pew pew?!

I've been known to be talked into VCE, on occasion. I will do UIE, BHE and maybe Korfez.

I played every once in a while, when the 4 could finish it, they just couldn't start it without 5. That was when we had others in the fleet that played STFs

I haven't done Elite STFs since the difficulty revamp. Haven't even tried one.

I generally like doing the elite queues, I just like the feeling of potentially getting killed occasionally. However I can't say a lot of the Elite queues are all that hard, grounds are especially bad for this, and DRSE is insanely bad.

I think what judges what I do more than anything is how awake I need to be to do a given mission. If something is as simple as "go here, shoot this/them, carry on....." then I get bored really easily. If there's more to it on the other hand I'm more likely to enjoy it simply because it requires some intelligence, and hopefully the new ground queue on tribble will give us that with the console code stuff.

I no longer do any Bug Hunting work for Cryptic. I may resume if a serious attempt to fix the game is made.

On another note, build variety being encouraged would be nice as well.

The ground elites are really nice and by now most people know what to do. Space is a different story...if you dont have a premade it will take forever to fill the q and hive onslaught for example is not woth the trouble to be honest.
I only run VCE and Korfez when it comes to space...

I wind up being the filler, usually (5th player), and my DPS is never on par with the rest of the group, but I can usually keep from getting killed on Nukara Prime (Transdimensional), Infected Conduit, Gateway to Grethor & Borg Disconnected. Many of my fleet mates are in incompatible time zones, so I don't have any experience in others like Bug Hunt or Korfez, but I'm always willing to try if anyone needs a 5th... ;)

While I haven't had a toon that needed to cycle through it in a while, Undine Infiltration Elite. As long as everyone on the team can read, and isn't a troll, this one is very enjoyable.

Those Elite queues are void of life EXCEPT those few that aren't as difficult as the Devs may intend them to be and can be pugged.

I used to do Bug Hunt on Elite, but now it's all but impossible to Pug so thanks for ruining that.

Other then that, since I mostly pug these days, I stick to Advanced. I just have no interest sitting there shooting one borg sphere for an hour because it has Millions and Millions of HP.

    Insert witty signature line here.

I do none. :| I very seldom have played advanced, and since most of my fleet is nowhere to be found, not even that often.I hardly even play normal. There is no fun for anyone except in turning the chatbox into a flamebox. I have lost all sense of fun when it comes to STFs that I don't even bother.

i have done 3 or 4 (GGE, VCE and kordez). well, i don't like them, not because they are difficult (they must be difficult), but because mobs are just walls- too many hitpoints-. this is not funny at all.

I do Brotherhood of the Sword Elite ground... most PUG's know how to face-roll it, and there's always a shiny new borg tech for crafting experimental upgrades waiting at the end. Bug Hunt is similar but not nearly as fast.

Well that and pugs generally don't do enough DPS...was in a pug where someone had a DPS meter and had 2 people who didn't even break 10k dps...(One didn't even break 2k and the other I don't think broke 5k).

I personally asked for harder content...not damage sponge content with millions of shields and hull strength.

    ESTFs I do:

    NTTE
    BOTSE
    DRSE
    BHE

Never have any issues, can even pug them. BHE, NTTE and BOTSE are very fun.
  • wintermutevreswintermutevres Member Posts: 100 Arc User
I pug Battle for Korfez, Vicious Cycle, NTTE, BotSE and DRSE from time to time. Used to play BHE until they they made it a requirement to keep NPC alive and UIE but for some reason ppl have been failing at reading almost every time i join lately so i no longer play it. Other elites are not worth it. Well maybe with a a good team of fleeties and/or ppl from DPS channels but i'm a sociophobe and prefer to just jump in and do something with minimal interraction with other players so i don't bother hehe.

Technically, Hive is the only Elite STF currently accessible in the game. The other Elites are queued events but STF only, technically, refers to Infected, The Cure, Khitomer Accord, and Hive.

This is one of these things, along with global cooldown (or cooldown)and some people refering to piloting as including ability management and not just physical positioning where the community has completely different uses for terms than Cryptic. (When we refer to ability recharge as cooldown, this sometimes actually causes us to get mixed up about the mechanics. For example, a GLOBAL cooldown would be the same for every ability and STO doesn't have one of those which is why, I think, devs avoid words like that.)

They did eventually give in on the tiers, however. (They referred to ships as Tier 0 through 4. We called them 1 through 5 and Cryptic adopted the player terminology there.)

I do all the elite ground stfs. All of them...

I wish they'd release ISE, CSE and KSE... the advanced versions are too easy. We have debated doing HSE, but even at 50k, it's a bit difficult.
  • questeriusquesterius Member Posts: 8,489 Arc User
    Mostly ground.

Bug Hunt elite i stopped playing after a period of horrible lag.
That lag seems to have lessened, but now there is a bug where a loss is counted when the npc is knocked out in the final boss fight.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I do elite grounds all the time, even the occasional pug (which I've had rather decent luck with)

Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.

I will do Elite setting with my fleet only, and I do the normal setting with PUGs.

The ground elite STF Undine Infiltration is pretty easy, aslong as you don't get anyone who messes it up in the beginning with the suspects.

I do all the ground elites including occasional HGE and NSDTE. The only space elites I haven't gotten around to are Storming the Spire, BDE and Herald Sphere, although the Aggronauts are debating about mastering another difficult elite queue.

I live the PuG Lyfe and head to the queues to see what will pop on Elite. After about 5-15min, either a Korfez (Fez), BDE, or HSE will pop. Typically, the latter two will fail (miserably), but I pick up a few people there and we discuss tactics afterwards, and direct them to the proper people for build advice should they ask for it.

Yes, I use the queues as a recruitment tool for the DPS crowd.... I am evil, I say!!!

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.

disco elite is doable. Hard but doable. Storming the spire is um... not doable,
