So who are the Terrans?

The Terrans resistance included non Terrans and mobs have always included all Federation species (holding officer rank pips, not slaves). They are now led by a Bajoran. So, what is now their unifying ideology? It can no longer be the superiority of Terrans, despite the now misleading name of their political unit (not that that in itself is a problem - just ask a Greek about what Macedonia should be called. Please no one actually start that debate though!).

But what drives then? What are their values beyond admiration of facial hair, navels and maniacal laughter? Somehow I doubt Cryptic will illuminate this for us so what do you think? Perhaps they are are simply not so far from us, and are simply that part of our instinct that creates dictatorships today. They cling to the glory of the old empire to give them historical legitimacy but do down they are just out for revenge and power from their enslaved origins. What the Bajorans could have been and what we are when Roddenberry style idealism is striped from us through servitude.

Leeta actually makes a lot of sense in a way. Stalin was from Georgia, Hitler from Austria Napoleon from Corsica. She was drawn to a larger identity and rules with an iron fist because deep down she is not Terran and needs to compensate for that.

Is Leeta actually the empress or is she simply in charge of this assault?

I kinda regard Terrans as the ST version of The Sith. Personal power and glory is all that matters, and they do whatever it takes to achieve it.

Leeta is in charge simply because she wanted it enough to lie, cheat, steal and kill to get to the top of the pile. They didn't strike me as being xenophobic or racist, but perhaps an element of human superiority exists. Of course since everyone is out for number one classic relationships are probably more mutual benefit arrangements, which can and are disregarded the moment a better opportunity comes along.

Terrans are what we'll likely become in our future' hostile and violent, and geared toward conquering rather than exploration. Star Trek (the prime timeline) is actually the mirror one. It has been all along.

From the planning doc for me, Worffan101, and Takeshi Yamato's fanfic shared universe:
Terran Empire (the second state to bear the title, but they pretend that they’re still the TOS Terran Empire). After winning the Terran Revolutionary War, Miles “Smiley” O’Brien hoped to create a democratic Terran Federation, but he and his Terran Provisional Council were overthrown and killed in the mid-2380s by his eldest son James in a military coup, who instituted a massive military buildup using plans stolen in raids on the prime universe. Slave races include Vulcans, Betazoids, Andorians, Tellarites, Benzites, Bolians, and captured KCA citizens, though individual slaves are allowed to swear fealty to the Emperor and take a term of military service in exchange for freedom (which is passed to their descendants). Exterminated species include pretty much every Human-lookalike species from TOS and most of the one-offs from TNG. A rare few alien states (Coridan, Trill) joined willingly, whether out of fear of the Cardassians or Romulans, for economic reasons, or to avoid outright conquest, and are considered honorary Terrans with full citizenship. The Terran military is personally loyal to the Imperial throne, not the specific person sitting in it, which means military coups were relatively common. Has an impressively terrible sentient-rights record, even for the Mirror Universe.

But we're throwing out the Mirror Leeta BS. Whoever wrote "The Emperor's New Cloak" conveniently forgot that the atrocities of the Occupation of Bajor were committed by the Terrans in the mirror universe.

Though of course, not as a perfect analogue to the Prime Occupation - as has been noted, the Terran occupation would have ended earlier than the Cardassian occupation did, being aborted by the collapse of the Terran Empire and all.

    Admiral Leeta not Empress Leeta.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Leeta is just a very successful military commander to get to the position she's in

Is Quinn president of the Federation?

Well, considering he agreed peace with J'mpok without any onscreen consultation with civilian authorities and frequently appears at events along side J'mpok and D'Tan while Okeg has yet to put in a single appearence...

If we don't get extinct before for the same reasons. That's trek message afterall.

Back on topic, the problem is real: the new Terran Empire need a deep background.

I didn't like the change of the official colour, maybe they can explain that with a change in the state ideology.
I still dream from time to time about using the Gateway to doff off-game in spare minutes as we were told

Who says there's only one Mirror Universe? DS9 may have had two (depending on how you pass off the cloaking continuity. maybe in this one the Terrens never occupied the Bajorans.

Given how the Bajorans (some of them) helped the Terrans return to power... I can see the Bajorans replacing the Vulcans (who made the first empire fall) as the Terrans equal.

      Barclay for Emperor?

Yeah, that idea makes a lot of sense. Especially given the infinite parallel realities idea the writers used from TNG forwards.
