Please, help me improve my dps

bioixibioixi Member Posts: 764 Arc User
Hi, currently this is my build:

http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=mybuild12343566789ssss_0

I have access to any reputation, fleet or R&D item and anything under 10m EC, I know upgrading stuff will increase my dps, I just want to know what stuff should I upgrade, so I don't waste resources upgrading worthless stuff.

I know my skill selection sucks, but that's because it's 3 years old and I was a noob at that time.

Thanks for your help.

Im sure others will be in to help..But.With your skill points (assuming you are not going to respec) Why not run a torps build

I'm going to respect the next time they do a discount on services.

When you respec, unless you want to be the tank, which the Nandi is not a very good ship for it, I recommend 0 points in threat control, 6-9 points in attack patterns, 9 in electro-plasma systems and at least 6 in warp core potential and warp core efficiency. Now, I also recommend either going with energy weapons OR projectiles/ kinetics, not both. Since your build seems more energy weapon-centric in your bridge officer setup, cut out projectile related points and put 6-9 in energy weapons and 6-9 in energy weapon specialization.

You can go with both, but will sacrifice some points elsewhere, so plan ahead. With that said, you could make a tank-ish build and blow stuff up while surviving small hits with ease, so it may not be a loss at all. Try it out and see what works for you until the cost for a respec comes down.

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.

I took a shot at re-doing the build to meet your requirements. I did a revamp of the build that you can see by clicking here.

You probably have a ton of questions, so let me see if I can explain my reasoning.

First, I converted the build to single beam arrays. Why did I do this? Because they are a better fit on a Destroyer weapon layout (4/4.) The Nandi is an agile ship, and while it has a good turn rate, it's not quite what you would want from a pure 'front facing' build that would optimize dual beam banks. With the Nandi, you can stay at full impulse and 'weave' in and out of groups letting the superior arc of the Single Beams blast everything around you. For the beams, I selected Fleet AntiProton beams because they're cost effective and come at UR with 4 good mods right from the shop. My engineer runs these at Mark XIV and trust me.. they hit HARD. If you want the best you can get, that would be crafted beams with CrtD, DmG, and Pen Mods. I left the Borg KCB for the 2 piece bonus with the Assimilated Module.

I didn't touch your engine/deflector/warp/sheilds but for these I would highly recommend going with at least 3 pieces of the Iconian Resistance Set. Personally, I like going with the Iconian Engine, Deflector and Shield. For Warp Core, I would pick up a Mark XII UR Fleet Core. I like the Plasma Infused Warp Core [AMP][Eff][SSS][W->A]. Alternatively, you could go Iconian for the Deflector, Warp, and Shields. You could then use the Engines from the Romulan Protoype Space Set for the bonus to attack patterns. If you do this though, I would recommend taking the Warp Core to UR to get the AMP Mod.

I re-did the skills tree to make it more versatile and to better fit with the build. Feel free to re-arrange the Ground skills if they don't fit your style, that's just what I personally like. The skill tree is fairly generic, but highly effective. It puts emphisis on Power Generation, Power Transfer, Energy Weapon Damage, and Shield strength. I would very much recommend fixing your skills, you could convert a little Dilithum for the Zen you need to respec, it would be highly worth it.

I made some slight changes to your skills. I would try and get some Damage Control Engineers to help you reduce time on Emergency Powers. With 3 blue rarity or 2 Purple, you should be able to continuously cycle Power to Weapons and Shields to keep them as close as possible to Global Cool down. I would also recommend slotting a Warp Core Engineer that will have a chance to boost all your power levels whenever you activate an Emergency Power.

I put in the Tachyeon Beam to help you take advantage of the Nandi Trait 'Greedy Emitters.'

For your consoles, I put in a couple EPS consoles to up your power transfer rate. These can give you a big spike in DPS as they help you get power into your weapons faster. For a complete breakdown on how this works, please have a look at this video from SarcasmDetector that explains it very well. I would also recommend dropping the Sustained Radiance Console for another Embassy Console, but that's purely up to you. It's optional.

That build with Iconian Set should really boost your DPS. As far as upgrades go, the biggest DPS boost comes from upgrading your Weapons. Mark rating is the most important, going from Mark 12 to Mark 14 is a very large boost. I would then upgrade your Tactical Consoles, Embassy Consoles and EPS consoles. These will all be cheap, the Weapons will take some time. I personally don't find upgrading Impulse Engines or Deflectors to be worth while. I only upgrade Warp Cores if they don't have [AMP] already. Shield upgrades are worthwhile, but extremely expensive. I do that last.

Hopefully, this at least helps give you some ideas. Please let me know if you have any questions on anything I did.

^ This. Might I add that I can't stand the Iconian WC, it's just ... not good.

Yeah, the new 'meta' is moving toward the Iconian 4 piece just for DPS reasons. Personally though, I still prefer Spire cores. They just seem to work out better for me.

Not to mention, you have to get the Iconian core to UR to get the AMP Mod, and that's ridiculously expensive. You can easily spend 100 or more kits getting the rarity up to UR which is ridiculous. I usually just use a Spire Core, much cheaper and easier.

Oh wait, have you seen the Terran WC? Get that to UR for [AMP] and it's almost the "perfect" core. Scuttlebutt suggests the new meta may turn the Iconian 3-pc and the Terran WC.

OP, if you are chasing DPS, then go for Iconian 3-pc at the very least.

Do we have more on topic than the blog info yet?

    • Matter / Antimatter Core: The Terran Task Force Quantum Capacitor Warp Core prototypes a new method to transfer power generated by the warp core throughout the ship. Unlike most warp cores which enhance power levels for one subsystem, the quantum capacitor benefits each subsystem. While in combat, the warp core will gradually raise power levels and maximum subsystem levels for all aspects of the ship.
    • Singularity Core: The Terran Task Force Quantum Capacitor Warp Core prototypes a new method to transfer power generated by the singularity core throughout the ship. Unlike most singularity cores which enhance power levels for one subsystem based on singularity charge level, the quantum capacitor benefits each subsystem. While in combat, the singularity core will gradually raise power levels for all aspects of the ship, allowing the singularity charge to be reliably manipulated without dropping power levels

I would be really interested to see exactly how much it's going to raise power levels. My thought is that it's going to be minimal at best, because otherwise this is the equivalent of giving everyone a free Plasmonic Leech. I just don't see that happening.

I'm curious of course, but skeptical.

That was my first thought as well. Yet giving everybody some plasmonic leech substitute for free could also be the best approach to deal with the plasmonic leech. You know, similar treatment as with aux2bat. Never a nerf but simply good (or even better) alternatives.

Numbers will decide of course, same counts for the rest of the stats as in eps for example.

I was just about to upgrade an Ico core on one of my toons. 4 piece set already rocks on 3 other of my chars. Waiting seems to be the best course of action this late into the season.

Pics on the web but: +0-5 additional subsystem power, +0-5 maximum subsystem power thus allowing >125 power levels and dependent on time in combat. It's also [W->A] [Trans] [EPS]x2 with +Weapon performance and a Weapon capacitor that does more than repair.

    It's a wait-and-see Core at this point.

Its about time they released either a leech like thing for poor feds or removed the thing from the game.

The Terran Reputation is live on Tribble and the Drozana test console spits out marks for it. You have to level the Reputation manually, but if you've got a few minutes to kill waiting the 10 secs for each '20 hour' assignment to go by --and you can keep connected to the server (I cannot currently)-- you could try it out.

Edit: Managed to stay on long enough to give it a quick spin, and it's an interesting core. Had the A-M on a Narcine in the Dyson BZ, and if I didn't use buffs like FAW I could hit 130 weapon power on the Klingon weapon points killing the Undine, so it doesn't take very long to stack up. The +10 to all subsystems on Cap use doesn't seem to be hooked in yet, though, but could be an interesting thing. I didn't have enough EPS Skill (old import to Tribble) to keep weapons powers peeked out with a Mk XII core on a Tac Capt, so being able to leaverage fully is going to take some effort. Not impossible by any means, as on my Andromeda I can keep near-pegged at 130 weapons power on an Engineer (That packs' console is +5 max subsystem power all the time).

Do note that the three-set is basically a Fed/KDF Valdore equivalent.

That’s pretty sweet info. Thx a bunch the two of you. :)

Well now, circumventing energy management is a real thing in this game....
