Shield Emitter Amplifier console endangered, soon extinct!

The "Shield Emitter Amplifier" console is a non-skill related console that boosted your shield regen rate. It was already endangered. It was only available as a episode reward from a small handfull of episodes. But over the course of time it came down to now only one episode has this as a reward. However, the last episode that rewards this, "Tear of The Prophets" is soon to be replaced when season 11 hits. And this console will probably be gone for good.

The Shield Emitter Amplifier console isn't even craftable with the current system. So if anyone cares or see's a value in them then you better replay the TRIBBLE out of that episode before goes.

Does anyone? Will this be missed? Why not?

Thank you.

If I am not very mistaken, it also is just a random drop from space enemies in either STFs or episodes. I am swimming in them I think.

Sure, i didn't consider drops. But if you want one you can't really plan one dropping.

The console is pretty much useless anyways.

All of the classic science consoles are all outdated. So are the tactical and engineering ones. Now we have powercreepin' consoles that makes a ship look like it had 20 or more console slots with all the powers they give each.

I used it for about 2 years. Now there is too much better stuff so no room for it. However, the super regen build I created with the assimilated 3 piece set and some fleet consoles was very effective, especially in ISE - for a very long time. Pretty much instant regen of all facings.

Power Creep made a lot of the "traditional" loot drop consoles superflous, but the Shield Emitter Amplifier was pretty much never good. Natural shield regeneration is mostly irrelevant, and a small bonus doesn't really improve that.

Maybe if the console boosted all shield healing recieved, it might have had a chance.

For Federation-only players, you mean. Romulans and Klingons will still each have 2 missions where you can get a green one of up to Mk XI quality on replay. I was surprised to look through Federation missions and see only the one opportunity, and so late in the game. Since Klingons and Romulans already have 2 opportunities to get these, I sort of hope that they don't put them in the rewards for any of the revamped or new missions, but instead put them into some of the early Klingon War arc missions for Feds. There are several that have Energy Dampening and Pollyalloy armor choices, some with only those 2 as choices. Seems like those would be a perfect place to add in a Shield Emitter Amplifier and maybe a Field Emitter for Feds, since they lack opportunities to get them early, like the other 2 factions have, and will soon have no opportunities to get them. In the meantime, Feds could always get them on Klingon or Romulan alts and mail them to their Fed characters, but this would, of course, be a clumsy workaround to either adding them into mission rewards elsewhere, like I said above, adding them into the R&D system, as another option, or, best of all, doing both, just to keep them around and accessible for everyone.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

Pretty much this. Casual players still buy vanilla tac consoles, but the rest have all plunged in value because the fleet versions are so absurdly better. Given their CritH bonuses, OP plasma explosion garbage, etc on top of whatever their vanilla counterparts offered, and the console slots reserved for mandatory things like assimilated console, tachyokinetic converter, etc, the vanilla consoles have little use outside of the leveling process.

Shields need to be reworked entirely, not just regeneration.

Shield transfer (not the ability) needs to be reworked and become boostable by the EPS skill.
Shield regeneration should increase with shield healing skill.
Shield's damage resistance should decrease as shields decrease.
    Shields should continuously regenerate.

I use the Field Generator console, it adds to max shield capacity, is craftable, and available as mission rewards from multiple missions.

It was Field Generator that I meant in my earlier post as a second console choice along with the Shield Emitter Array, not Field Emitter, which is an Engineering console. Field Generators are currently unavailable to Federation characters as a mission reward at all until very late, the Delta Quadrant mission "Reunion." A place to pick one up reliably when it would matter to you more, during the Klingon War arc, would be nice, since Klingons and Romulans both get opportunities for it that early.

While we're at it, I don't believe there is a mission for Federation characters to get a reliable Phaser Relay reward, or for Klingons to get a reliable Disruptor Induction Coil, for that matter, (though I'd have to comb through them all to be absolutely certain) but Romulans can get a reliable and repeatable Plasma Infuser from the "Enemy Action" episode, so that's another thing that should be looked at for the low-level players, or the ones without a lot of EC or crafting experience.

That field generator at blue mk xi use to do 35%... but the devs nerfed that too.

This levelling console is plentyful on the exchange, it has aways been the shield cap one that was scarce, to the extent that people paid dil for blue mk 11 or 12, however both are now rendered irrelevant pretty quickly with the rep and crafted consoles - for example the particle field exciter add 20% shield cap and exotic damage plus a regularly proccing weapon power boost, all for 100k, and weapon power is the very thing newly levelled toons lack.

Of the old consoles only eps is a contender for endgame, and thats not even the case for players with big budgets that can pay 150m for an eps mod on an already pretty good console.

And yes it is a random drop.. I got second place in CCA the other night and was rewarded with a purple mk xii of it.. I think they are like 390k on the exhange.. Its a shame the regen mechanic on shields is so borked though :-/

those older/original versions are meant for as "Placeholder" for newer upgrades or til you find better replacements, and wait for new season epidose upgrades.

Actually in Season 1 and maybe even at start of season 2 I did like regenerative shields x3 reg, with all shield regen consoles and 125 shield power. It was pretty nifty shield healing without boff skill. But back then, STO was not full of TRIBBLE consoles and idiotic passives that destroyed original systems.

However, nowadays these consoles are not needed. If you wish, you can get the same stat on some fleet consoles or rep reward consoles.

I remember when I used to rock 3 of those consoles along with the Borg shields. The regen rate was so hilariously fast, you blinked and they were back from nothing.

    Ah, good days.
