"Default View" / POV

corjetcorjet Member Posts: 188 Arc User
Hello,
Some how I lost the default view - where the camera is like a 'chase'/'pov' view. I use to be able to drag the mouse to see the rear of my ship and it would reset to the 'chase/pov' view, but now it doesn't do that anymore. I've tried logging in and out and even resetting everything to their defaults. Anyone have any ideas what to try next?

Thanks!

I've been at this game a long time, and I've never figured out the setting that allows you to free-position the camera and it stays put, then spin it back around to a chase position and it 'locks' back into the chase mode. A couple of my characters are stuck in chase mode where I spin the camera to see what I've just passed and it stays for about a second then rotates by itself back to chase, which is bloody annoying. But selecting free camera mode seems to always point in one direction until you move it again, which is ... less than ideal.

Oh yeah! It's not the chase camera as royalsovereign notes because that resets back to 'chase mode.' Ever since I started playing - it's been this way where I could get it back to 'original position' except now. And sorry but yes I did try all those settings too.

If you haven't set any of those settings then try this. While flying through space, move the camera to view the side for instance. Then move the camera back towards the rear and center and let go of the mouse button. You'll see that it will automatically 're-center' itself. This is what I'm trying to restore. Thanks!

I have quite a few ships this does not work with, especially the Nandi. I had not thought to check the camera settings, but I have noticed that different ships exhibit different behavior with respect to the "chase" view, perhaps because of differences in the ship profile & hardpoints.

Never even considered that it my be a ship issue. I'll have to test that theory.
