Will the Iconian Vest be a Limited Time Reward?

My sister just started playing STO this week, and it'd be great if she could get the Ico-Vest, but going from the early missions right to the (currently) Story Conclusion is pretty much like reading the prologue then skipping to the end of the book. :) if she wants the reward costume, will she have to act now and basically spoiler everything for herself, or will it still be there if she waits till she plays the mission in its proper order?

your not supposed to do this, but you could log on to her account run though the mission once for her just to make sure. though I doubt it would be.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

We had a similar situation with the Kobali outfit. Gone after the FE. Nothing in the original blog about that, only some comments by a Cryptic employee in the News thread stating it during the FE. About half my characters got it; if I had known, those that didn't could have picked that up first rather than a reward they could have gotten later. I do like this outfit, and it also provides low level characters with an armour looking outfit way before they can obtain the unlocks from the Rep armor.

Different though this is not a selectable Weekly Reward, it comes default on first run with any other selectable. With their new policy of providing the Rewards with free upgrades until Mk XII, it is a good idea to get low level characters through this after Level 10. You effectively get items that will level with the character. From other FEs the Romulan Imperial Navy Combat Armor and Shield and later the Chroniton Split Beam Rifle gave you good Ground Gear that served well through the levelling process and beyond.

I think the same would go here with the Space Set this FE rewards.

Unless she is going to be an avid RPer, go for this right now.

I was wondering that as well. Since it would be nice if my lower level characters and others who are new at the game can get them as well.

I didn't see anything about it in the blog about the new FE. Way it looks to me, its part of your first time doing it, not as a choice reward.

The first completion of “Midnight” will also give players the Peacemaker Title and the Iconian Vest Outfit. Once unlocked, the outfit can be worn by both male and female captains. The iconian vest outfit category offers a great deal of customization, with a full color palette and multiple accessories for the upper and lower body.

Judging by the way the Kobali outfit was handled, I would get the Iconian outfit while the mission is still a Featured Episode.

For the next few weeks, the requirement is only Level 10. Reaching that is easily do-able with only a few hours of gameplay.

It is a nice costume for when a player might want something which is really out there for their character. It would be a good gesture on Cryptic's part to simply leave the reward of it as is whenever "Midnight" becomes part of the regular FE storyline.

It would be courteous for @tacofangs to post a reply to this query.

Why tacofangs? He is not a character design Dev, he does environments. Calevista would be the DEV for this question I think.

I'm pretty confident it's a permanent reward, else they would've mentioned it with the announce blog on the homepage saying "time-limited reward", like we did with the Anniversary Rewards.

It seems to me, that if you call a mission, you can play it whenever you want. Midnight can be played at level 10, but you still can play it when it is 'moved' to level 60. You can also replay it. I have several characters that are not level 60, yet they can play, and replay missions from the Iconian Arc. What I did was calling those missions, when they were open for low level characters.

This seems also the case for special rewards.

Because I have had no interactions with Calevista that I recall, and because Tacofangs can surely stroll over to another desk and say something like: "Yo, is this thing a limited-time reward, or will players be able to get it pro omnia saecula saeculorum?" ... whereas I can't, being half a continent away from Los Gatos and all that jazz.

I would say it'd be a good idea to keep it in as an optional reward for completing the set. I'm still wishing I had the kobali stuff for some of my alts that came out with Delta Rising.

I did not receive the vest at ALL on my Caitian.

Correction: For some reason SOME of the Iconian vest components appeared under Off Duty on my Caitian instead of where it did on all of my other toons. But NOT all.

So if you do a FE at level 10, the purple item comes as Mk IV, and it auto-upgrades as you get promoted to Commander, Captain, etc? I didn't know that...

No, when you replay the mission, you get a level apropiate reward. So to get an upgrade, you have to replay it. You can also upgrade it with R&D. I am not sure if you can get an extra modifier that way. If not, it is a waste of resources and you should use the replay method for getting an upgraded item.

You can also click the "Upgrade" option after right-click. It'll open the Upgrade window, and you'll upgrade as usual, but without any need for dil or anything else.

Thanks, that's the answer I was looking for.

Time to start collecting the set (over 3 weeks) on my lowbies...

The whole outfit is bug-laden anyway, so even if it's time-limited, I think they'll extend it just because it's not working correctly with many species.

Pretend the outfit is a limited time reward and play the episode on all characters you want it for.

As was pointed out, the dev blog for a previous featured episode never said the Kobali uniform was a limited time reward. It was a dev post in the forum discussion about it. They didn't even bother to updated the dev blog afterwards to reflect that.

So far the Kobali uniform hasn't returned. I've been wanting to get it for my delta recruits (the delta recruit event started some time after the Kobali outfit was no longer available).
