Cruisers are great in PVE because the electronics are so slow and it is hard for electronics to one-hot kill them. But how do cruisers compete now in PVP against escorts and science ships?
The speed difference is incredible and seems unrealistic compared to the shows and just seem generally bad for game balance. I noticed pretty much all cruisers have an impulse mod of 0.15 the only real difference among them is turn rate.
Any suggestions besides fly an escort would be greatly appreciated.

That's just extreme on any cruiser... Even the Oddy would have difficulty refusing to move then, let alone stopping...
Aux2Damp with it's doff on it's own is good enough to get almost any ship moving nicely.
