Tribble Maintenance and Release Notes - August 20, 2015

coldsnappedcoldsnapped Member Posts: 520 Cryptic Developer
We will be bringing down the Tribble server for maintenance to apply a new update: ST.55.20150814a.3.

General:
  • Resolved a number of issues involving FX related crashes.
    • This includes consistent crashing that was occurring on Zaria and the Voth Ground Battlezone.
    • Feedback from Tribble testers is much appreciated to verify if this is working on a wide variety of video cards.
  • Resolved an issue which was causing occasional crashes involving the UI.
  • Hooked up a unique icon for the Seismic Agitation Field power.
  • The Torpedo FX will now properly die when Tholian Disruption torpedoes explode.
  • The R.R.W. Cretak will no longer appear in random Romulan space spawns.
  • Resolved an issue where the Available Skills UI left-side list might become too large.
  • Made slight changes to the icon art for Blaze of Glory.

Systems:
  • A new unique Shield has been added to the Shields R&D School: Hyper-Capacitor Shield Array [Cap]x4.
    • Has even higher Capacity and lower Regen than a Covariant base shield.
    • Has a built-in "Capacitance Bleed" mode which, when toggled on, increases Energy Weapon Damage at the price of draining a small amount of the players current Shield Capacity with each weapon fire.
    • This recipe requires Level 15 in the Shields R&D School, and also requires an R&D Shield Specialist to create.
  • The project costs for all Weekly Fleet Buffs have been adjusted:
    • Fleet Marks increased from 300 to 400.
    • Dilithium reduced from 25,000 to 20,000.
    • Fleet Credits reduced from 750,000 to 200,000.
    • Expertise unchanged at 200,000.
  • Vaadwaur Split Bolt and Vaadwaur Assault Debilitator weapons now gain correct [Mod]s at Ultrarare and Gold quality upgrades.
    • Existing versions of these items have been updated.
  • Resolved an issue that was allowing the passive 3 piece bonus from the Nukara Elite Ground Set to trigger effects that should not attach to passive abilities.
  • Resolved an issue that was allowing the Crystalline Refraction ability from the Nukara Crystalline Resilient Shields to be applied to the player’s primary ship when the shield was equipped on a slotted Shuttle.
  • Aceton Beam:
    • Description updated to reflect stacking limitations: Dmg effect applies, but all Radiation DOTs stack.
    • Increased base damage at all ranks by ~250%.
  • The damage-over-time effect from Structural Integrity Collapse, all ranks, can now be removed by using Engineering Team.

Character:
  • Resolved a clipping issue on male resistance boots if thighs were scaled up.
  • Resolved clipping issue on existing TOS Mirror Female Upper pieces.
  • Adjusted the Talaxian Skirt to optimize character animation movements.
  • Bare Skin for Aliengen Female has been re-categorized.
    • The bare chest and bare hips have been made NPC only.
  • Set female "Shoe Motion Picture" to work with uniform loose pants.
  • Corrected Romulan 22nd century names to "23rd Century".

Known Issues:
  • Numerous types of animation are not playing including:
    • Throwing grenades
    • Warp out sequences
    • Interacting with consoles on the ground
    • Rock ‘n Roll
    • Emotes
  • Some players will see a graphics related issues on planets in Sector Space.

Has the issue with the project only lasting a day also been resolved?

And being that Tribble appears to be running on a new code branch, will we be seeing this change patched in next week, or with S11? Many fleets want to run these Weekly Projects, but the current cost and duration are preventing us from investing resources into them.

It's true this new branch is where we are working on New Dawn but the updates stated here will be on Holodeck sooner than the launch of New Dawn.

The R.R.W. Cretak will no longer appear in random Romulan space spawns.

Appear, and appear and appear some more

Thanks for fixing that. Funny, but not very immersive.

The new shield looks nice. What's that "Spoils of War" accolade we get upon logon?

Better avoid those spheres if you want that Shield Capacitance Bleed to be useful in Borg STFs :p

On Tribble I have not encountered this issue. The issue was happening on multiple machines, but they all had Radeon graphics (HD 5770, and R9 M295X). In my attempts to find a working OS/driver/settings combination I have been reduced to a Windows XP virtual machine and Windows 10 virtual machine (no more Windows 7 or 8 machines in a functional state until I reformat). The good news is that the Windows 10 virtual machine does not experience the issue on Tribble, though.

I'm not sure if it's related to the "FX related crashes" since DX9 vs. DX11 didn't make a difference, but I thought I'd mention it here.

I wonder how that new shield will work with "Valdore console" on warbirds...

Weird, the UR mod I got for the shields was [Tet], not [Reg]. Might be a bug.

Upgrading to UR results in a random mod being added. [Reg] is just one possibility.

This is an issue I encountered when I came back to 7 from 10 where it never existed, I updated my drivers from 14.2 to 15.7 and while the issue isn't resolved as such the driver seems less prone to failure. That said, I've yet to test it on Tribble so...

This seems a little too easy to use. I mean, it's purely a matter of ensuring you have ample regen to offset the drain of the power and that's easily do-able on most common styles of ship build as they are, with a few very careful tweaks you could get extra as well.

These shields have a lower innate regen, each weapon fires several times during its cycle, most ships will mount between five and eight energy weapons, and increased damage causes increased threat regen. Outside of very specific builds I could easily see Shield Capacitance Bleed being a huge liability.

Odd thing about this latest patch and the latest on Redshirt, too: Every time I try to log in at the start of my STO day, I am hit with a 1.1 to 1.3 gig patch, for both test servers, as if it's patching further.

It's because currently both Tribble and Redshirt updating the same directory. Namely "Star Trek Online\Playtest\"

I dont think the way to use this is to try and out Regen the drain. That's never gonna work. The way to use it is to hull tank when you are using it (things that boost your resistances, brace, subspace cap, doffed aux2Damp, aux2sif, hazards, polarise hull etc). I can think of a couple of special consoles that basically make your hull amazing strong (samsar being one) that could be v nice in concert with this new shield.

Trust me I realise the drain, but if you're a Rom the valdore console will most likely deal with that easily alongside regular heals. I've already got a plan for the KDF end of the spectrum, though I can't find good enough situations on tribble to test the theory. The only real issue are things like the Borg tachyon beam as someone has already mentioned.

to be blunt. Quit saying most likely... TEST IT!

Give some numbers and people are more likely to believe you.

Really?! I just said there's not enough decent situations readily accessible. Now if you're offering to help jump a team into a queue on tribble that's fine, but of course I doubt that is the case.

For the record, testing it under easy combat conditions is a waste of time, I've already done it and regenerating the shield under standard conditions is a cakewalk. Just use transfer shield strength 3, the Iconian two-piece and decent amounts of shield power in the 75 and above range and it more or less sorts it. The valdore console, as I said, will most likely keep your shields optimal because as most people who use it know it does big heals and the Shield Capacitance Bleed plays right into the hands of the Valdore due to the proc being based on 200% of damage output. You have to remember though it is a proc so part of it will be down to luck for when you need it most, and it does work 95% of the time by the way.

It's when you're under intense assault that it needs testing, and frankly those situations are more in the queues, as that is where any real testing would matter due to the Borg Tachyon Beam, Shield Neutralizer and the like, at which point and only after that is done can a proper conclusion be drawn in this instance.

So again, unless you're going to do something useful and help test in combat-intense queues, you can't talk.

All I can say is the Valdore console better be coming to a cross faction box sooner than later.
