ARC Cryptic Launcher Update failure

I have been experiencing some extremely annoying issues with the game launcher.

I uninstalled ARC and ORIGIN thinking that they might be clashing, and rebooted. All windows updates are done and graphics are up to date. I reinstalled ARC, but when in come to downloading the game, the Cryptic Launcher Updater seems to not be able to connect to the Patch server and times out after 5 attempts.

Windows 8.1
8GB Ram
1 TB HDD
Ge Force GT 745M

Machine is completely sufficient.

Does anyone have suggestions?

    I have even modified Port forwarding, and still a no go.

    well they did have a maintenance huge one not long ago....

    But in this case in the cryptic launcher if its still not connecting....you can check the proxy button.

    IN addition....if you didn't realize...a couple things here...
    1> steam versions may every so often give this error or other ones and this is due to steam updating itself and messing up...as in it will sometimes active the write protect mode for its entire directory and all games in it.

    2>new versions of games through updates can sometimes combine with the small updates in virus programs to make your firewall protection or anti-virus think it needs to block the program...don't ask me why this happens...I have Norton anti-virus so it sometimes does this...as in it starts blocking my game or prevents parts of the program from running for being suspicious...though Norton does this to a lot of programs...

    3> corrupted file...you may have a corrupted file in the start trek installation....I know I had one...not sure what happened but star trek messed it self up....not too surprised....considering the game patches it self while we play....which no game should ever do unless the files where wrong...but then they give us large patches so there is no viable excuse for that sort of thing....unless the company wants there game to be broken 100% of the time.

    so in my opinion...I would start with clicking the proxy option for the patcher....and maybe verify the files....doesn't take too long....that should clear up the unable to connect to the patch server....unless you are trying to connect while they have been doing maintenance....in which case I don't think you can do anything.

    The game works on my Vodafone DSL but not my partners Compass Net DSL connections. Such a random problem?
