Lag Fixes.....

It seems that this patch is going to try and fix some of the lag issues that have been present in this game since before I can remember.

Here is a list of fixes that are being pushed through in this patch for those that are unaware.

Server Performance:

Resolved an issue which was causing lag during gameplay when using powers.
This also includes the lag experienced with button response when clicking on powers during combat.
Resolved issues causing memory leaks which occasionally led to crashes.

Resolved an issue which was causing graphics related crashes when launching STO.
Several individual player powers have been re-built to reduce their impact on server performance.
For all of these rebuilt powers, the functionality that players experience has remained completely unaffected, though some tooltips may be displaying differently.

The list of abilities updated in this pass includes:
Assault Squad Officer that grants Point Defense Turret to Boarding Parties
Attack Pattern: Beta
Delta Reputation Tier 4 Offensive Enhanced Rending Shots
Directed Energy Modulation
Kemocite-Laced Weaponry
Reroute Reserves to Weapons
Shield Distribution Officer that restores Hull while under the effects of Attack Pattern: Beta
Suppression Barrage
The Space Trait "Intense Focus"
The Space Trait "Positive Feedback Loop"

Feedback from tribble is that people have been able to play without any lag at all. ISA and CCA both seem to run pretty lag free.

Hopefully this will port to the Holodeck and go live without any issues and I can hopefully start to really enjoy this game again. It seems like an eternity since I was able to do that.

I have to admit that I have been one of the moaners in recent months and even got myself banned/limited as I tended to voice my opinions wherever I could and hopefully that will also now be coming to an end.

I just wanted to thank the devs for a patch that is full of fixes that appear to be very worthy rather than costume glitches which have zero affect on gameplay.

I would more than welcome more patches such as this one. Fixing the bugs that seem to be creeping to such a huge pile that it's a seemingly immense task to undertake.

Maybe we can see the reintroduction of NWS and Terradome at some point ? That would be great.

Fingers crossed that these fixes work and should they do, my wallet shall become open again and I will openly support this game financially which is something I have not done for quite a while now.

TLDR - Thanks for the lag fixes, please let's have more. :open_mouth:

    indeed,
I'd love to get hands on wallet to support game again.

unfortunately I have serious doubt about the lag being fixed by those changes.

like being under constant SNR and geting DC each 4-5mn around 2-3:00am (GMT+2)

    I realy doudt it's a software issue.

But I'll give them the benefit of the doudt once again.

I played CCA which was laggy...

Did some doffing in sector space and it took a good 3-4 seconds for each assignment to register and be removed from the list.

I just don't see how so many supposed fixes be made and yet the effect appears to be so small ? Also if it's power based then why does ESD lag ? Why does sector space lag ? Why does doffing lag ?

To Be Clear, Moving Like Molasses is an FPS Issue. Rubberbanding and moving forwards 30 feet or bouncing back is server issue.

Rubberbanding is from packet loss; the client sends movement messages to the server, who does not get them (loss), then resynch puts you back where you were. Packet loss is usually a result of congestion at a network bottleneck.

Nope, that patch didn't help. It looked like it did on tribble but that's only a small amount of the population from holodeck... I just ran CC and Borg Disco on normal... I can say I got 1FPS when my ship was on combat.

Loads of lag and rubberbanding, so in my end it actually didn't help but kinda made it more severe.

During a run through crystalline, earlier on a build that runs multiple copies of APB. A few of us were lagging like hell, not enough to warrant anyone going from 100% hull to dead in the blink of an eye, but still annoying none the less. But for a further seven run preceding that that, I think it was pretty smooth sailing.
Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!

Personally, I found the server much more stable and lag was greatly reduced for me.

I didn't have a ton of lag to begin with, but it started getting worse for me after 10.5 dropped. Today was the best the game has played for me since prior to 10.5.

ok, in the afternoon I'll admit it looks like there's less lag / SNR on many things,
although sometimes I do not see SNR at all but I'm frozen for +10secs before doff mission start or before I keep moving in sector space / missions.

At night, around 2:00am (GMT+2) it's exactly the same, constantly Under SNR for anything, geting disconnected each 5-7mn at best.
Since it's the time our US fleet is the most active, for me game is still unplayable at all !

I've sent bug reports for that months ago and earlier last week, still havent recieved a single acknoledge, IMO, they dont care about most EU players and probably forced the lag on us...

Congrats to all who have seen improvement in their game with less or no lag. I however have seen no improvement at all. I was not so eagerly anticipating a renovated much better playing experience beforehand and it seems I was right to hold off on the enthusiasm, lest I be sorely disappointed yet again.

In my case server lags or disconnects usually happen at 9pm CET. And because those lags are so punctual I don't think that this are a conincedence.
Right now I'm stuck in a CCA with the server not responding.
And while I'm writing this the creature HP jumped from 54% to 0, with me exploding and the queue complete. Same in Sphere Battlezone.

well, my ctd problem is gone for the moment, but i still have rubberbanding, the exchange is slow (sometimes), + even with my graphic settings maxed, the textures of the characters are ugly (not all the time, and not everywhere )

Same time every day. Honestly, it sounds like the issue is you're ISP, and at this time they are doing either bandwidth throttling, packet shaping, or it's some sort of maintenance that's causing the issue (they probably consider 2:00 AM a low usage time, and the best time to do whatever they're doing. No Cryptic patch will fix that.

Ah yes....and all my other fine Games working fine at the same timeframe....

sure, its 100% MY Provider. they trottling and filtering STO alone
    LOL
    nope

Me and my Girlfriend using the same Net...aaaaand we has not(!) SnRs at the same time.
Sometimes i'm lagfree and at the same time my Girlfriend are in the Laghell.

    Sometimes we both.

sorry, but this issue is too selective.
    i think its a Shard- or cluster-part-issue

sure, and how do you explain it for others here having same issue ?
you think all EU players are on same ISP maybe ?
and not even talking about anything else but STO working fine (games/streaming/etc)

guess again cause right now you are so far we cant see you ;)

I've noticed that too on my childrens accounts (2 of them) I have a lifetime one and they have subs, sometimes it's me lagging as hell then DCed or not and sometimes the oposite, even when for ex we are all on K-7, Drozona or else in same instance.
I though it was "lag in the lag" cause we all eventualy get lag or DCed at some later pts in time.

I have issues most nights about 10 PM, but I know for a fact it is my ISP since the disconnect affects not only STO but also XBox Live, Netflix, and anything else on my home network,

I understand your troubles sir, and guess it must be frustrating when it's an ISP issue.
But this isnt the same issue here, my ISP is fine,
I have a professional fiber 100/100MB ISP that is also use for my own company,
I'm also working for them (partnership) from time to time to solve people troubles when it's comming from customers side.
So, before complaining here, the very 1st things I did were :
    - trying several games, OK
    - streaming, OK
    - uploading/downloading FTP/etc OK
    - then calling them and checked if it could still be anything from them or like EU-US links, that I haven't heard of yet, OK

I've checked all that despite the fact that STO has been laging for age, mostly since DRising, and geting worse each patch...
even when Cryptic finely admited it was on their side
    - 1st a so called 'hardware failure" they said they have fixed last month, which is when I started having serious SNR & DCed from svr.
    - then claimed it was APB and others abilities that were causing troubles and tried to fixed it.
to end up with less lag on some players but constant SNR and DC on others.... it's quite clear it's on their side and they are again lying about the reason why it is happening.
Iike I said before, we suspect it's because they dont have the hardware able to handle that much players since Xbox players are connecting on same servers to play Neverwinter. And they dont want to invest in more servers to fix things.

Same here, especially the player’s power related lag has gotten a lot whole better for me.
