Does STO accept pitch ideas for future content

Hi Guys and Gals:

I was wondering if STO accpets pitch ideas for future content. I like a possible story arc for future Feature Episodes series

If they do ?? Who do you or I contact and how ??

Could you get paid for it and maybe help in doing more Freelance type of story work for STO ??

I think a dev has commented on it in the past, about how hard it would be to use freelancers and willing volunteers to work on bits n' pieces. If I remember right it was just a case of timescales and managing, not to mention NDA concerns and a little of 'they took ur jerbs!' among the current workforce.

They have 'borrowed' ideas that have appeared in the forums in the past.

As for pitching ideas; not sure, although would assume that it would be unlikely that you would receive any credit for it. Technically, an 'idea' for a game needs to be turned into a reality, and Cryptic would own the product that the idea was based upon.

Like sticking boff skills in lockboxes :/

Not sure if this works for you, but currently they are looking for a full time head writer (to replace Kestrel , who left) :

Everything said on the forums becomes property of PWE and therefore Cryptic. They can (and have) used ideas lifted directly from the forums in the past.

If you want to write story content, there is always the Foundry.

This is true, mostly at least I think. (I am not sure how directly they lifted stuff - too many ideas just seem a bit too obvious inside the design space of the game that multiple people would come up with similar ideas anyway. But they can - by their own forum rules and EULA - use any ideas presented on the forums.)

And of course, the Foundry can also be a way to tell a story. You won't have quite the technical tricks Cryptic has, of course, but still you can probably work something out in the constraints of the story. (And even if Cryptic where to do the story, there will be always be some kind of constraints.)

Plus you can always try to get hired. Send them an application.

Yes, there are quite a few Foundry missions that tell great stories. I wish that Cryptic would bring back their weekly selection of a Foundry mission to showcase--they haven't done that since Delta Rising launched.

They promised PvP updates back in 2011. We keep asking for PvP updates. Nothing ever changes.

Get paid for what? Anything that you could come up with would probably fall under the IP of Star Trek (CBS) which is licensed to PWE/Cryptic. Any "ideas" that you come up with won't be yours.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

In the past they have taken what many people have written up as ideas and direction for mechanics to be honest and it is a hit and miss really. Ive wanted to see sometype of territory system such as what was in StarfleetCommand III.
