What's your favorite/least favorite story mission?

Favorite: The Entire Nimbus Story Arc

It may not be fair since it isn't just a single mission but this Adventure zone has it all. Pew pew, puzzles, hokey Original Trek style. Plus, the mission "The Undying" is one of the missions in which you get to choose whether or not you kill the bad guy. I don't know about you guys, but I love having choices in my stories.

Least Favorite: Blood of the Ancients

There are multiple reasons why I can't stand this mission. First, all of the maps that it uses are recycled. 2nd There are way too many maps. You start in a space battle at Starbase 234, followed by ANOTHER space battle around New Romulus. After this you fight on two different ground maps on New Romulus before doing another ground map at the Preserver site. After all of this needless moving around you engage in a final pointless space battle. There is absolutely zero puzzle solving or dialogue that can alter the course of the mission. Lots of missions involve only combat but this one takes it to it's purest and least enjoyable level especially by dragging it out to over 30 minutes. The one saving grace that this mission has is that most of the cinematics can be skipped.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

Least Favorite: a tie between the Nimbus storyarc, the Cardassian storyarc and the beginning Federation storyarc

Honestly, Nimbus wouldn't be a big problem if we didn't have to hoof it the entire way to deal with these problems. Give us ATVs, Speeder bikes, a Segway, something so we can get there faster!

As for the Cardassian storyarc, it's just so long and pointless and it's such drivel! It's one of the reasons why I'm weary of working on my Deltarcs.

And the Federation storyarc? It's just not interesting. Go here, shoot this, beam down, shoot that, beam back up, shoot more stuff. Even when you toss in B'Vat at the end, it's just... eh. The KDF and Romulan stories, though...!

Most favorite: a tie between the KDF early storyline, the Romulan early storyline and [GASP!] the Iconian War.

The KDF and Romulan storyarcs are just so captivating - going from lower-tier slum (especially if you're a KDF player and you take up someone not Klingon) and clawing your way to the top. Damn the houses and the secrecy and kick your enemies to the curb!

As for the Iconian War arc, discounting the fact that the universe isn't littered with our fallen friends, I'm just out and out captivated by the entire thing, though I have to admit, the Klingons need to be put out of the planning process.

For me, it's a tough call between "Boldly They Rode" (the story is fine, but the constant interruptions of "Kurland here!" and "This is Kurland!" make me want to airlock him) and "What's Left Behind" and "Uneasy Allies" (these two I count together, and my dislike of both is due to the fact that I am not allowed to execute Sela and be rid of her once and for all).

A close second is any mission with the racist T'nae in it, apart from "Temporal Ambassador" (because she is apparently not yet infected with racism at that point).

Not entirely sure which mission is my favorite, but "Cutting the Cord" is high on the list, since I finally get to shoot Hhakhifv in the face.

I absolutley hate some of the cardassian/dominion missions. Badlands & The long Night are prime examples of what's wrong with this arc. Overly long, nothing but corridors filled with cannon fodder & turrets, add nothing to the story and are a chore to play through.

There are several mission I really like. Most of the romulan exclusive stuff is great (though "Abducted" is terribble) and also the early klingon missions are fun.

My most favorites are "Temporal Ambassador" & "Past Imperfect."

As for least favorites, the Cardassian Arc & Borg Arc.
The Cardassian Arc just plain sucks - it takes too damn long, and as far as I'm concern, it's just a waste of time.
As for the Borg Arc, it just didn't feel right for me. Plus, only 4 missions. To me, that's just a few missions too short.

I love the Nimbus arc. I always find that one fun to run around in. I like the early Klingon stories as well. They reworked those extremely well, and you get an attack mastiff! :)

    Story lines I hate:

The Cardasian arc. Ugh. My Talaxian is plodding through that at the moment. Its dreary, uninteresting, unimaginative and boring. "The long night" I find tedious in the extreme. I shudder to think I have "Kurland here!" to listen too soon. On the upside I seem to remember reading they are revamping these?

The Iconian war. I'm sorry. I've tried to get involved in this but I just find that it leaves me cold. Massive plot holes aside I just find the whole story line limp. Add to that the fact that Tom Paris has turned into a wimp! "We're....retreating" >.<

Favourite story mission : "Surface Tension" - a big story to bring the Federation Klingon war to an end, a last visit to the old Spacedock (albeit heavily trashed) and battle sequences that helped me push my T5U from a level 2 to full ship mastery. Loved it, although a pit of padding of the story between the Dyson Sphere and Earth segments and between Earth and Qo'noS segments would not have gone amiss. Oh and the fact the Undine wasn't Admiral Quinn or Captain Sulu. Apart from that though.. :)

Least favourite story mission : If hell has a name in Star Trek Online, it is without a doubt... "Operation Gamma".

Sure the slingshot bit of "Night of the Comet" is frustrating (and to this day I still cannot do that bit without my crew taking pity and engaging the autopilot), the first two thirds of the Cardassian arc are repetitive enough to induce a coma, I found myself rooting for the Malon by the close of "Reunion" and by the end of "Boldly They Rode" I'd have quite happily shoved Kurland into the nearest transporter and set it for wide beam dispersal...but none of them compare to the sheer screaming frustration of shooting the Work Bees repairing the sensors and searching for salvage for a Ferengi. If they do eventually revamp the Cardassian arc I really hope this one is one of the first to go.

Least favourite: Revelations, being constantly swarmed and spawn camped by the vaadwuar is not fun at the end.

Favourite: Where you fight at the first battle of New Romulus as a federation captain, it's the first battle of the alliance against a threat

Right on..favorite was close with Facility 4028...but the worse for me was the Iconian war (what you mentioned above and the other meaningless series)

Favorite overall mission is What Lies Beneath. I just love that one.

Don't have a favorite Fed specific mission.

Favorite KDF mission is Manhunt. I can't get enough of the last scene with the BoP appearing overhead. Love it.

Least favorite mission is Broken Circle. To me, this mission is the new Divide et Impera. Awful mission that makes no sense in every way and should just be removed from the game. Yuck.

Actually I guess the entire Iconian War arc is pretty bad. I kind of feel like it's just an excuse to have Star Trek actors do some VO for the game and little else. Eh.

My favorite mission is by far "Surface Tension". There is great writing in this one as well as good cutscenes. I absolutely love the battle for ESD and the battle for Qo'nos...I even love when they put your ship on rails to cover the Aquarius so Schon can get the glory! It is so Star Trek IMO....How many times in all of the series did the Captain of the Enterprise (Sisko and Janeway as well even though they Captained other things...hehe) save the Universe as we know it? To me, even though I'm supposed to be the hero, the Captain of the Enterprise should save the Universe....lol.

My least favorite would probably be "A Step Between the Stars" for no other reason than that d@mned space walk portion...The controls are just so horrible...Perhaps correct in the "physics" side of it but horrible for MMO playability. The rest of the mission is fine, but that middle part totally wrecks the whole mission for me.

      A few close seconds:

Fav's: "Facility 4028", "What Lies Beneath", "Past Imperfect" and the entire Fek'hlri (sp?) arc in the KDF Captain-rank missions.

Least Fav's: The entire Cardassian arc. I hated it when the game first came out and I was leveling my very first characters. Then remembered why I HATED it while I leveled 3 Delta Recruits! Please revamp this arc.....P-P-P-leaaaasssseee? o:)

      Qapla'!

Edit: d@mned spell checker and horrible grammar... :s lol

My least favorite Episode would clearly be "Boldly they Rode". (And by extension the entire Cardassian Arc)

You are supposed to assassinate the leader of a Dominion force occupying DS9, (who somehow managed to get there before you despite the fact that he had to fly all the way through federation and cardassian controlled Space and was supposedly engaged in Combat with a fleet led by the Belfast who tried to stall him for you) so the incoming federation Klingon fleet won't have to engage them in a bloody spacebattle with heavy casualties on both sides no one wants.

You perform an annoyingly long spacewalk where you often do nothing but slowly walk forward or slowly fly forward followed by a long tunnelcorridor fight sequence after which you finally best the leader in combat, only to be struck by a sudden case of cutscene stupidity as you allow him to give his villain speech and beam to his ship, rendering the entire mission pointless as you join the incoming federation Klingon fleet while they engage the Dominion force in a bloody spacebattle with heavy casualties on both sides no one wants.

But hey, the new enterprise shows up, captained by some dude we had only met once before at that point, yay!

Oh, and since you are the player character you are still being treated like the greatest bloody hero ever afterwards, with everyone praising you for your accomplishments and Shon even thanking you for saving the crew of the ship he supposedly sacrificed to buy you time to reach the station before Karukan...

Loriss even makes a complete personality shift and thanks you for allowing her and her men to go home despite the fact that the entire fleet around DS9 had been blown up...

      It does feel kinda forced...

My Favorite Episode would be a tie between "what lies beneath" because of the atmosphere and the fact that it's the first Episode to really catch my attention, as well and "Sphere of Influence" Which I think had some great writing, good pacing and a few nice callbacks to popular episodes of TNG.

My Favorite Story Arc is "The Delta Quadrant" with the Vaadvaur being possibly STOs most interesting Villains.

Favorite Episode; Surface Tensions. It has a great space and ground combat and great story, but that is not why this mission stands out to me. It is because the missions slightly differs on who you deal with depending on witch faction you are. To me it is the only real "cross faction" mission in the game. Plus I just love the 3 characters Shon, Jerok, and Koran. I wish they would bring them back for the Iconian war. True we did see Shon and Jerok in Broken Circles but they had no speaking lines. We haven't seen Koren sense one of the Delta Rising episodes. Where is she?

A pretty close second would be Capture the Flag. I just think that mission is really fun. Its also really cool when you fight the Tyrant..... ummmmm I mean the Vaadwaur Overseer at the end.

Least Favorite; Uggggg Coliseum. First reason I don't like this mission is for some reason I always struggle with the stupid monkey. Everytime I level up a new toon it seems to take me 3 or 4 tries to kill him. Second is half the time I get an infinite loading screen when I am transferring from the arena to the desert.

Hmm, hate its a strong word. Some I dont like but the one I really hate is Dust to Dust. Sry Devs but I am not a mouse in a labirint nor a jumping jack. And making the kobali uniform limited time only was kinda low aswell :( Good thing that the team listened to the feedback and no more of those came out.
      Now enuf negativity.
About favorite one(s). Cant select just one... Some I like for the graphics, some for the story and others for some small bits of humor that make you smile...
For graphics I cant get enuf of romulan starting missions (A day on the farm and A day in the Sun) and kdf mission Bringing Down the House. Best outdoors maps and show some of the normal lifes of ppl in Star Trek universe. They still grow stuff just for flavor since replicator food doesnt seem to taste that good, even if its efficient and satisfy the need to eat. Like when I saw, in the KDF map, that they even had a BoP parked there as a car on the drive way, my mind went: "WoooW, thats soo cool. Now why didnt I got, as fed - since I played those kdf missions when kdf unlocks at lvl 21 and you had to play fed 1st, something similar... like visit Picard's viniard mansion or something like that". Another visual pleasing mission was romulan The Search for New Romulus. It came with LoR so way after Seaseon7: New Romulus. And it was amazing to see it from other perspective. When I saw that Tholian on the bridge I was like: Hey, I was, at some point, on that bridge... That was soo cool.

Some missions are great for their gameplay too. Loved The Dragon Deceit, especially the first part with the infiltration. Its reminded me of games like Splinter Cell or Thief series. Wish more stealth misions like that are done in the future. It also brought up some TNG nostalgia (yeah I am a TNG fan mostly) where weapons fire only if its necesary and there isnt any other options.

And some missions gave a smile. From top of my head I remember that last revamp mission from Brog/Undine unified arcs. Tuvok replys (at the player? or some1 else), upon looking at the unimatrix ship in there: "Thats is indeed a magnificient ship". And just as he finishes sayind that, a few undine ships arive, focus beam the planet killer attack and blow the hell out of that "magnificient ship". Had a chuckle at that :)

Most of the Cardassian arc sucks, but I do like Boldly They Rode, except for Borticus, I mean, Kurland interrupting every 5 seconds.
