Mundane battles & episodes without a plot

I've been playing this "game" on and off since its inception. In the beginning when it was still in the Alpha stage (that was the release date for those not playing STO in 2010) there were MANY issues from the graphics to the server capacity to the numerous errors in dialogue text. This is to say nothing of the plight Klingon players experienced with ZERO content. Granted I only play a Federation character but the hundreds of archived threads on that subject can be found by anyone looking.

I took a year off from playing because the repetition and lack of real episode plots was less fun than playing Star Trek titles I have and have played dozens of time that date back to the late 1990's. I came back and found the game had gone free to play, Romulans are added and the BORG still look anorexic. The Delta quadrant is opened up and The Iconians are the next bad guy. Things were looking up, especially since I doubted I'd be doing many PvE missions against ground BORG NPCs that I won't have to carry Vulcan soup with me for the soup kitchen.

After playing for a few weeks, I see some things have NOT changed. Space combat is still boring.
NPC vessels have one million (+) hull hit points, fire weapons that deal 100k in hit points and after using some kind of BOFF to shift to the other side of the map, have 100% restored hull (but not shields). It seems clear that rather than develop NPCs that use strategy, they just rely on excessive hit points. Well then for that matter, why not make them "realistic" but just have 10 of them on the screen? The math would be the same but at least as you eliminate targets, the number of hit points that can be fired at you will gradually decrease.

Is anyone else finding this tedious and counter to having FUN? Or, is this just how MMO's are? I'll admit that this is my first and only and only because it's Star Trek.

What I wouldn't give for a modern version of Dominion War.

Me too. Or a version of the Battle of Bassen Rift. You know what they say. When all else fails. Bring shields forward shields to full power and then RAMMING SPEED!
Proud Trekkie Favorite episode from TOS is The Doomsday Machine TNG: Yesterday's Enterprise VOY: Endgame part 1 and 2 DS9: Emissary ENT: Assmilation

It would be nice if they made it so NPCs moved, that would be a good start. Even scripted NPCs would be better than this, FF7 enemies were done with IF statements and they are more challenging than what we have here.

The problem I have with content in this game is the gap between each content release, and then there is the delta quad arc where you have level walls between missions. It's clear that they can produce missions faster than they are releasing them, I think even one new mission every two weeks would fix that problem, it keeps things fresh.

Then there is the matter of queues, which are dead because you get a lot more exp from grinding patrols than running queues. If they made it so that running queues was a viable alternative the game would feel more alive and thus better.

Should be in this forum: http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums#/categories/feature-episodes-events-and-pve-content

Anyway, I'm having fun because I don't play the same mission over an over excepting weekly FE, STFs and seasonal stuff. Otherwise, Foundry keeps me busy :)
