Manheim Device finally fixed!

lucho80lucho80 Member Posts: 6,600 Bug Hunter
The Manheim Device no longer has shared damage effects.
  • The past and future temporal duplicates now behave as two independent pets.
  • In addition, activating this console will provide a massive boost to damage resistance to the player’s starship as well as the temporal duplicates.

Yay! No more suicide console! And it has a nice extra effect.

Extra note: I hope they fixed it because they're planning a temporal lockbox with a T6 temporal ship with a 3 piece console bonus in the near future.

You mean I can now use my console without fear of dying 2 seconds after using it?

Yes, although it makes no sense. if your past self dies you really should be gone as well.

Yes and if your ship explodes you should lose it forever, get court-martialed and kicked upstairs to a desk job in Paris.
Some "realism" needs to be sacrificed for quality of life, especially for what is essentially an 800 lobi console.

Because you're an expert on temporal mechanics.

Says it right in the name: Timelord! ;)

but seriously, it's a paradox. Killing your earlier self: current and future self never exist.

It makes perfect sense. If one of the ships is your ship from the past it should have the same weaponry you do and what is more important - it should travel along the same path you did moments earlier. Both past and future ships that come to your aid must be from an alternate timeline - therefore damage shouldn't be passed from one to another.

The past ship being in the same place as your current and future ships is a paradox too, a rather bigger one at that!
So much for the 'timelord' ;)

Well, the hints are there ... the new research lab consoles, this console fixed, the fact that story-wise we are going to test temporal incursions and maybe do them later on ...

Hooray! I don't know what the damage resistance buff is for but I won't complain about that. Perhaps it's to make up for the poor AI used by the duplicates?

Who knows... Sometimes they fix things just because they have to get fixed, but maybe they are actually considering a Tier 6 lockbox/lobi/promo version of the ship? With the Krenim Temporal Weapon, there would be good story-reason for some time travel specialist from the future to come by and check that the timeline is on the right path...

Now now, maybe Cryptic are simply planning to upgrade the existing Wells and Mobius to T6 with pilot stations for free as a gesture of good will to the existing playerbase who spent so much to get them in the first place.

    ....

    ....

And maybe North Korea will celebrate We Love America Day next week.
    Anything's possible, right?

Well you know that since the Wells is from the 29th century they would already have surpassed Tier 6. So the Ferengi only need to gut it to the current max Tier, which is 6. So what do they do gut it less than before. Would a T6 Temporal Ship be from the 30th century instead?

The existing Temporal Ships should be made to be a free or a modest Lobi cost upgrade to the current Max Tier. Anything else leads to Temporal Paradoxes and that leads to really big headaches.

Yep, this has got to be it. I'm thrilled they fixed it, but very sure they only did it to add to a T6 version. And there will be no upgrade or anything like that. You'll have to lottery lockboxes all over again for the T6.

Hrm. I'm grateful but I'd put a decent amount of effort into making my build center around not dying while using the gimmicks with traits like Invincible and loads of regen. This opens up new possibilities.

Also, it's a pity that none of the Krenim stuff is cross compatible.

    Maybe the T6 ships will:

    Have new consoles.
Be able to use T5U timeship consoles.
Be able to use Krenim consoles.
Have T-cores usable in themselves or the other ships.
A hull sharable with existing timeships.

I'll tell you what I would like for the T6 ship is a bit more Enterprise-y configuration with a neck and saucer but with 29th century aesthetics. (Maybe a corkscrew neck on the ship? LOL.)

Actually, yeah. I would like a corkscrew neck on the ship and an M.C. Escher bridge with BO NPCs at upside down and sideways stations. Maybe all of the bridge crew as variations of me. Or a glass floor/ceiling/wall where I can look down or up and see copies of myself and my bridge officers doing different things. Copies of the same bridge stacked end to end with goofy little sequences playing out in them.

Maybe a copy of me as a Duty Officer Assignment officer who offers various temporal assignments. Like I go to my ready room, press a button and I appear with a dialogue that's all like, "Tempus fugit, Captain. I am you from the future. I have a list of tasks that are essential for preserving my timeline."
