If you find this letter, you don't need to pass it on to anyone.
I don't have any friends left to play with me. My fleetmates have either logged off or moved to other games. Even the people I used to pass in the queues or see at the ESD are gone.
Soon, I'll be gone too. But if you find this letter, remember us. Remember me.
This was a pleasant enough game once. It didn't have the graphics of Cry-Engine games or the coding architecture of WoW, but space was black and the earth was vast and beautiful. And we played here, far away from the greater concerns of modern mmos and expansions. We made our chara, we lvled them, we got max-lvl, and we retired chars, all content in the knowledge that the wars that raged among the stars could always be repeated.
Our main-players and friends came here from Champions Online, from DAOC and from Omega-Day. They came from WoW and older trek games and even Eve Online. They came here to build something with their own money, to till the queues and harvest dilithium and grind ec into items. We bought keys with zen instead of EC, and flew the sectors instead of transwarping our ships through space.
We were happy. That was enough.
We watched other games on our newsnets. Images, beautiful and terrible, animated with a gesture. Steam opening in the midst of summer. Payment and loss. We mourned the ill adviced purchases and wept for the lost money. We even opened our sto clients and took in refugees from mac that fell to the No-gaming-computer advance.
Perhaps that was our undoing. Perhaps that's why the Lags came here too.
We'll never know. And really, what does it matter? They're here. They rubberband our queues. F*** up our once good parses. And every day, more and more people just … disappear.
We've surrendered. They do not care. We've begged for bug fixing. They give none. We've called for help … but when that help comes, it will be too late.
If you find this letter, remember us. Look across the blasted dust of our server and know that once, we were here.
And sto was playable.

Edit: Rename it into “Gone with the Lag” to make it more poetic.
Edit 2: If u intend to stick to STO for a while longer give me a pm in game. Our community is also really depressed over the ruining decisions that are obviously made for STO but we are still intact and make the best out of it for as long as we can.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
Ahm well you did get that this is a word-play on "Tales of War #15" and I dont just mean the title?
Not saying its not mostly true but the dramatic touch is from the original text;)
But thx anyways I play with my guys or not at all.
LOL urgs, no stopped reading those a few weeks back but will make en exception if you made a parody.
I understand your attitude to play with your friends. Have the same with mine. Just for you and your remaining friend’s info. Our community has international cross fleet chats, we have an armada with 2 fleet spots open and even our main fleet should have some room for additional players. Times are not as fun as they have been but still no reason to play alone.
