New player buying first ship, need counsel please

Alright, I got enough zen to buy my first T5 or T6 fleet or non fleet ship. As a tac fed with an escort preference, which do you recommend for best potential DPS output and why?

    I would say the new pilot ships, get the bundle if you can they are well worth it. They are very fast and nimble I use one and 90% of the time I have the enemy in my forward 45 firing arc.

    If it's your first ship and I'm presuming you've got 3000 zen I'd recommend the >>>> Arbiter class Battle cruiser (fleet version if possible). Safe bet. great console allocation and lots of possibilities with bridge officer stations.


    but tbh there is no perfect ship unless you are a Romulan and DPS varies on a lot more than just the ship :)

    One important question springs to mind: does your preference for escorts stem from a preference for cannons? The pilot ships, especially with the three console bonus, work very well with cannons. Even with just the tactical variant, I would opt for it over the patrol escort retrofit, which I also have. The phantom might also be a good option, but I've never tried that one personally. If you use dual beam banks, the arbiter is admittedly a better option than an escort, and with proper console selection, you won't have to alter your flight style much from an escort. If you use arrays, that's completely out of my area of experience, but seem less than ideal for an escort.

    There are new ships every 3 weeks or so - whatever u buy it is outdated in a month
    nice u wasted so much time in your sig - i do not see it anyway :)

    right, but as a ship collector i just buy and mostly never realy use them, i just rip out the mastery traits and fly my t5u ships ;)

    ps: Doing a few tau dewa patrols till mastery 5 isn'T realy using them

    Well thanks for the feedback, I'll consider the pilot ships as my preference is indeed cannons, even tho I know they don't hold a candle to uber FAWing ships right now, which imho doesn't make any sense when the game touts the escorts and their cannon handling capability as being the damage dealers of choice *scratches head*.

    Get the pilot ship.. its amazing. The best escort you will find.
