What are your fave OLD ships?

With all of the new ships buzzing about, some fleeties and I thought it would be fun to take our old Mirror Vo'Quvs out of retirement and spec them with all the new gear we've had available to us since we retired them. After doing Infected and Kitomer on Advanced we were laughing our faces off at how well we did. Peeps were rocking T6 Pilot ships and popping left and right. After we tried out our old Mirror Qins and DANCED around tons of T6 ships PvP. It was incredible how these things held up considering most view them as garbage now.

What are your favorite oldies? If you've ever done something like tried CC with a squad of old Connie's - how was it? I'd like to know.

KDF side I find I pull out my Negh'var and mirror Vo'quv
Rom side I use my Ar'kif carriers and Ha'pax
Fed side I dust off the old sovereign, my fleet armitage are pretty much what I use all the time anyway, not the few free t6 ships I have

Ning'tao BoP because of its looks, although I chose a B'rel because of enhanced battle cloak to heal and strike quickly without waiting on cloak cool-downs twice while also having to retreat out of range.

Still had a lot of fun leveling with any of the older tier BoP because of the challenge involved in actually managing and timing limited abilities available based on the course of the battle and type of adversary.

Fed: Nova Science Vessel Refit, Long Range Science Vessel & Reconnaissance Science Vessel. The Nova's size makes it interesting taking on large opponents knowing you don't have many weapons, speed, or hull armor to fall back on, and when successful the science abilities get to shine. Recon perhaps because it seems all round capable reminding me of the Vestas, plus it has a good balance of aggressive look combined with parts that suggest high tech science-inside. LRSV reminds me of Voyager's epic journey through the DQ, and despite being my least favorite of the series (not counting TOS), it's still nice seeing it flying.

Rom: sadly there are none despite finding myself identifying with this faction the most, and enjoying the storyline the most regardless of hating the fact that it doesn't present a Romulan Star Empire that's more rich and diverse than what's typically portrayed in the series. I'd settle for the Valdore but never flown it nor have the T6 variant as it's size isn't over the top like the Mogai, and the T'liss or T'varo has a growing appeal for which I'm hoping will come out as a T6.

I use primarily my T-U Fleet Corsair FDC. I've had the O.S.S Debauchery since it became available, years ago. Gave it the T-U treatment, it has all the Dyson Space Set, the Protonic Aresonal, the Counter Command Aresonal, Bioneural Circuts Console, Voth Spacial Charge Barrage Console, Point Defence Turret Console. Ship Trait Reactive Repair Nanites. Personal Trait Wing Commander. 2 Enigeering Team Duffs, 1 Flight Deck Officer (reduced recharge on Lauch and Boarding Party), and 3 Projectile Officers that reduce cool down on my torps.

If a player doesn't know what they're doing, they'll blow up badly regardless of any ship they fly. The Pilot Ships have all kinds of ridiculous tools to stay alive, but it takes a decent player to know how to make use of it and keep those ships in one piece.

    Favorite old ships to use?

Feds: Constitution (for the low level ship challenge), Galaxy, Sovereign

    Roms: D'Deridex, Mogai

    KDF: Vo'Quv, B'Rel

I always wished you could host a PvP and select a max tier of ship to play. Like, set one up where you could only fight with tier 2 ships for example. Its been brought up many times and I don't know why its never been implemented. IMO it would be a great idea to revamp/revitalize PvP AND give players a reason to use other tiers instead of just grabbing them for a console - then trashing the ship forever. Sure we'd probably need more ship slots, but we'd have a reason to USE lower tiers other than the 20 minutes it takes to level up a toon from Lt. Commander and then forget about it.

Meh. Would still like to try a squad of Connies for CC. I'm going to have to set that up sometime.

Favourite old ships at the moment, as in not Tier 6?

    Let me check…

    FED: Fleet Patrol Escort
    ROM: Scimitar
    KDF: Recluse

I actually downgraded recently from the Tier 6 Breen Carrier to the Recluse. Was a good choice there.

I am kinda most interested in a Star Cruiser, from the "old" ships. There doesn't really seem to be any new ship that follows that design aesthetic. The new Battlecruiser stole one of its saucers, but that's it.

    Nova would be neat, too.

MU Negh'var, MU Mogai, MU AC (for having the star cruiser skin + AC boff layout)

Still sad that those didn't get the U treatment, especially that negh.

The only real difference between a T5U ship and a T6 is the Starship Trait.

If you have several T6 ships and have unlocked the traits, then when you jump back in your 'old' T5U ship.. you're effectively still in a T6 ship. I can go back to my Fleet Assault Cruiser Refit T5U and there is little to no real difference between that and my Guardian or Presidio.

I still frequently fly a T5U Fleet Patrol Escort Refit (Tempest) and it's every bit effective as any other T6 Escort. Of course, I have Reciprocity, All Hands On Deck, Battle Ready, and Desperate Repairs all active, so when my captain flies it, it's a T6 ship.

Jemnaught for the toons that have them, tho right now i am running all toons through the T-6 classes for the traits.
Drummond will always command Altair, Odyssey class starship or Tarazed, Recluse class carrier.

K'tinga...still flying my Fleet T5-U. Hoping they come out with a T6 model that has a few interesting visual tweaks. One of the most successful Klingon designs deserves to be given a second look by Empire engineers.

I'm never getting rid of my Regent. Got her looking like a Sovereign.

Ok... ONLY way I'd get rid of her is if a T6 Sovereign comes out and its pretty decent. But then I'd just use the Sovereign parts on her anyway. But until then... she stays.

Emissary-class Star Cruiser (for looks only...quite an elegant-looking ship if colored right) or the good ol' Odyssey Science (my "workhorse", tried and true).

And of course, there's always Connie (movie, not TOS) to make the heart go pitter-patter with nostalgia.

    Guramba Siege Destroyer.

Not sure how viable it was, but flipping all weapons to face forward and occasionally managing to destroy enemies with the "superweapon" was really fun. Every time I hit "Javelin" it was like firing off an undine world killer or an Iconian founder flattener - only more puny, and requiring precise timing to look effective.

It was a surprisingly unique ship - even with its bizarre limitations. Make a T6 version which is allowed to equip cannons on it's rear and either mod the javelin ability to not halt other weapon fire (and not exit siege mode) or retain the weapons offline and exiting siege mode from javelin -> but then make javelin's damage scale directly off all of your energy weapons.

Most of my alts still use t5 so they arent that old to me.

But I still love my retired Nova, Ambassador (because its so pretty), Sov, and Vo'qu (when I'm in the mood to rp the galactica with all turrets and fighter spam.)

Well, you are in luck then, because there are T6 versions of the Prometheus, Defiant and Guramba in the pipeline.
Speaking of T6 Defiant, could that have been a sneak peek of them during Broken Circle? :D Those escorts alongside the Mercury didn't quite look like Defiant- or Sao Paulo-class. Very subtle but noticeable differences and, considering how they gave us a lookie at the Pilot ships with Delta Flight just before their full-on release...

Yeah, I think too it were not just Sao Paulo Class Tactical Escorts we saw there. But the difference is somewhat subtle and I am not sure if there were both in that scene.
