No one cares about none of this c--p, when the f--k are you people going to freaking add SCIENCE SHIPS for FFS!
How about instead you just remove the whole SCIENCE CAREER from the game and just leave TACTICAL and ENGINEERING careers, holy s--t!
Yup, they should remove science career. Definitley they will save time and headaches if they remove the science career. Of course this will never happen. But i really hate having useless content in a videogame.
So where are the Mawasi Cruiser and Krenim patrol ship? Are we looking at 'Year of Hell Box 2: Before and After'?
They also completely forgot about the Devore.. or the Ledosian... or the Vidiian... i mean, im pretty sure we will have another lockbox, it will be stupid since a lot of species (some even more important than others already included in this lockbox) are still missing.
Yup, the Krenim patrol is missing. I didnt expected this but i said in the moment i saw the lockbox "Just 1 krenim ship??" poor guys.. lool.
I also loving how they trying to boost cannons, now that they know people is really only using beams in their ships lol. First, guys you should fix the cannon lag that is making firing cannons to be a nightmare, then you can put any boost you want. But first things first.. sigh. Always the same story...
Just my opinion, but Science is not useless. Klingons and Romulans are not as science-based as the Feds are. This is fact in the Star Trek universe. While the Roms are more scientifically-inclined than Klingons, the biggest sci-based faction in the Star Trek world is the Federation.
*Sits and waits for all the potshots.*
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
There is nothing "useless" about the science career in STO. I'll happily admit that sci characters have a significantly lower ability to deal high DPS compared to tac and eng characters, but that's not the same thing as being "useless" ... unless the only thing you care about is banging out space combat as quickly as possible and moving on.
There are ways to make sci characters dish out much higher DPS, but those builds are difficult and expensive to put together ... and most players don't want to deal with the difficulty and expense of making a sci character kick butt in space combat when it's MUCH easier and cheaper to make a tac or eng that deals more DPS.
My opinion is that we need sci ships that can hit harder in space combat or we need to make it so sci captains get a SIGNIFICANT passive boost to all sci abilities so that exotic damage abilities do much more burst damage and DPS when you're playing as a sci captain. That would give players another reason to play as a sci captain and would level the playing field in terms of burst damage and DPS.
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."
Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.
Unfortunetly, the science dreadnought (Anorax class) is likely to be the promotional price for the new delta alliance doff pack. Pity. I was really looking forward to getting a new science ship.
Actually I think this is going to become a fleet project tied to the Space Station Research Lab that uses Krenim technology.

It doesnt change the fact that i have 8 kdf toons, 2 of em are science and i dont have any clue about what ship to use with em, and of course it needs to be a science ship. If i was starfleet this will be menaningless since i have soo many options.
Right now i have the Karfi and the Shrarr Telln, but i dont like em. Because of glitches/bugs. So i need to replace em and i dont have any idea what ship to use instead lol. And i will prefer by far a faction ship instead a lobi ship, i usually dont like em. So, yeah klingons are not science but in the moment you want to use a science ship for any reason, you are really limited.

A Science Captain doesn't need to fly a Science Vessel. No Science Captain skills actually interact particularly with science related Bridge Officer skills.
Though of course it'S nice if at least some character gets to pick the option of flying a Science Vessel.
But hey, Romulans don't get a ship with all-universal slots nor any fully fledged Carriers. Feds don't get Enhanced Battlecloak or battle cloak.
I think a KDF BOP and a KDF Carrier are far more urgent for the KDF than Science Vessels. Both ships can also be used for science, which is neat, but the key thing is - these used to be unique KDF features. But now they are basically obsolete as there isn't a Tier 6 version of them.
At least there is a good chance that the BOP situation will be remedied. But what about the Carrier?

Ah, back to Sci Captain bashing.....shame really, because my main is a Sci and even coupled with only a lt. cmdr Sci slot, I find I'm effective in Adv STF's. Sci Capt abilities are still effective and still relevant. To be honest, my least favourite career is Tac, so shoe on the other foot for me. But I'm like that in most RPG's, I prefer the Wizard!

No one is saying it's useless, I'm saying we need more ships for that specif career. I can understand that the Federation is mostly inclined to science and more likely to have science officers, but that doesn't change one fact of the whole game:
EVERY FACTION HAS A FREAKING SCIENCE CAREER.

The Gorn ships are pretty much the Klingon science vessels. With the Secondary Deflector Dish. Would like to see their smaller frigates being used for the lieutenant level. Also some costomizationability (as in more than just the colour pattern).
All the same, if the Federation ended up creating their own battlecruisers to go against the KDF's, then why didn't the KDF create their own line of Science vessels to counter the Federation's? Considering the special power system energy beam targeting system, I'd think the Klingons would call them Strategic vessels (so they can avoid the word 'science').

You may not recall, but when Dyson rolled out with Science ships for all factions, there was some b.i.a.t.c.h.i.n.g about them *because* they were Science ships. Oh, and THEN there were the promises about the Secondary Deflectors that didn't work for months, limited skin options, visuals that didn't work, etc. yadda yadda yadda.
Give it a break.
If anyone thinks a Science Captain *must* play in a Science ship, then they have no idea how to play the game and should move on to ... Elite Dangerous or something.

The Dyson ships had lots of problems. People didn't complain because they were Sci -- they complained because they were not that great. I have Sci captains, including one in the KDF, and didn't bother with it because the ship wasn't really worth it to me. I eventually completed the dang anniversary project on one of my toons, but I haven't unpacked it and don't intend to fly it. The reconfiguration mechanic to change from tactical mode to pseudo-science mode was interesting, but just not enough. It didn't help that they then turned around and made them 3-pack variants for each faction. I don't imagine too many people bought the full set of 9 variants.
It was a fail, but not because players don't want a KDF/Rom Sci ship. It was a poor design and ill-conceived marketing of what people believed to be a massive copypasta that tanked the Dysons.
Give me a shot at a good-looking KDF and/or Romulan Science T6 ship with a configuration that works well for Sci, preferably with Intel, try not to bust it into 3 gimmicky variants, and I'll probably buy it.
I don't believe a Sci captain has to be in a Sci ship... my level 60 KDF has never flown a Sci ship in fact so I know that's the truth. My favorite ship so far has been the qib Intel battlecruiser. But I don't think it's too much to ask for one good Sci ship. I'd be happy with an Intel BoP, even.

Why the hell where they not great? They seemed to be one of the top tier science vessels. And when they were released, they were the only science vessel that even had a secondary deflector, for quite some time. That gave them an advantage over any other science vessel.
What other Science Vessel was better? The Recon Science Vessel? The Deep Space Science Vessel? The Long Range Science Vessel Retrofit?
The only one that might have been better was the Vesta. The Vesta had a hangar slot, the Dyson Destroyers its destroyer mode, giving it access to a powerful tactical skill while it's highest level science power was on cooldown. The Vesta had Aux Cannons, but the Dyson Destroyer had an extra gun in Destroyer mode. (Though I personally don't think that cannons was the way to go).
The Romulan version came even with Romulan Battle Cloak.
The console set of the Dyson and the Vesta were pretty similar overall in effect, and I don't think one can claim one was better than the other.
The Klingons and the Romulans never had a better science vessel. (And arguably, the Romulans had the best looking one.)
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
I could never find a decent enough build for the Dyson so after failing to find a good enough build I went back to the star cruiser. Since then I have went to a T6 science ship and enjoy it more than I did the dyson

My favorite class to play is Science. Coolest ground abiliities, kick-TRIBBLE for PvP once when I still did that. Science Vessels are also awesome, though I wish there were more build options.
I remember that the first wave of ships when Delta Rising was launched included three Science Vessels. They were all Fed, but there were 3 of them, Dauntless, Scryer, Pathfinder. All pretty good ships, even though I don't really care for the Dauntless looks. (Yeah, I like the Scryer more. )
And the first event ship after Delta Rising was a Carrier - also science heavy.
I think it was not very surprising that the first batch of ships afterwards would not be so science-heavy. Of course, Cryptic also said that Science Vessels don't sell as well, which also makes it even more surprising they released so many science options at once...
