Only thing that comes to mind is to uninstall and reinstall/update of all graphics relevant components. So update directx, uninstall and then reinstall the graphics driver in the most recent version (no beta drivers) and see if that helps.

You might also try finding out if lowerng the details and turning features on and off helps.
The game allows you to switch between DIrectX9, DirectX9ex and DirectX11 (at least that are my options), maybe you have some luck downgrading or upgrading there. (By default, it's on "Auto", so you don't know exactly what setting it has.)

Actually if you're seeing directX related crashes on an ATI card the latest beta driver seems to fix it.

Don't keep us in suspense. I take it you tried this successfully. Which Beta version are we talking about, 15.5 or 15.6? What driver version did you have before? What card are you using and what settings are you sing in STO?

The last time I tried a beta driver with STO I had some really wonky shadows going, but if so then the OP should try it. But I have never encountered their error so I can just give general advice like that.
