It was nice to have the Elachi Alert in my rotation of STFs. But why is it only a special weekend STF? It is a nice quick STF to add to the regular list.
Its nice but personally its nice because we don't have the chance to grind it into the dust. I'd much rather have it around every so often (with lots of people playing it) than potentially adding it to the list of zero-population queues with a permanent release (or conversely taking population away from other extant queues, pushing some closer to that same list.)
Besides, we are not hurting for new PVE's (to which the only solution would be to raid the special ones). That's sort of the problem with the whole system. Too much is being added permanently, not enough is being put on rotation so our source population is subdivided into units where only a strong bias (ex. such as for classic STFs, the latest rep, or CCA) results in a subpopulation large enough for reliable matchmaking.
Its a well defined problem in conservation bio that Cryptic would do well to start doing something about (with respect to the players, I don't suggest they get involved with endangered species research. They've got enough to work on. :P)

For several of my fleetmates as well as myself, it's nice because it offers the choice between all types of marks, rather than a choice between 2 or 3 types. I agree with the OP; I would like to see it made constant, rather than a once in a blue moon thing.
What I like about Elachi Alert personally is that it's a target-rich environment, meaning in addition to easy marks it's a good place to grind T6 traits.
I believe they don't make it permanent because otherwise everyone would be playing it in lieu of the other STFs.
With a what is it, 25? 30 minute timer before repeating, I don't think that holds as an argument.
I had it in a 5 STF rotation. And even then I varied it.
The biggest problem with STFs not being done as much is the fact they don't offer more diverse mark rewards. I'm done with Task Force Omega on all my characters. So why would I need to run any of those STFs that only reward those marks.
The STFs that get the most play are those that either the most current, or the ones with a more diverse offering in marks.
They could make old STFs played more often in an instant, if they just had them reward more mark types.
I like the Elachi Alert not just for the diverse marks though. I like it because it is fairly quick, but demanding constant attention if you want the full mark reward.
Only change I'd make is upping the difficulty some. Wouldn't mind seeing them try an Adv version, not sure Elite would be possible.
Wish there was an STF with Vaadwaur as an opponent also. I find them more annoying than the Iconians.
Instead of it offering all rep marks each time.. How about each day it offers marks from a different rep.. It would work for the time being as there are 7 reps. Even if they reduce the marks you get from the STF slightly.

an advanced and elite version would be nice but leave normal alone.
Half the time the pugs can't even complete that without zerging and taking an hour. Pugs suck.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
An alternative would be a closer look as to why some of the available pve having a lesser use and do something about it without cutting their availability.
I love playing IGA however experience a harder and harder time to find peeps doing it with me because they seem to get twice the reward in half the time elsewhere.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.
Recommend you learn to farm epohhs. One ten minute trip to New Romulus per day = hundreds of marks a day after you get the doff assignments rolling.
