So many things to spend on, do I buy ships or do I set up a nice little investment dil fund?

I don't quite know what to do at the moment and am having an argument with myself whether or not I should be buying a the Arbiter or to save up my Zen/Dil reserve for future income.

Normally, it would be easy decision to save while selling and buying zen which ever one the market favours. This time around I'm not so sure. I've always been a massive fan of the Avenger BC, it's one of the only old ships (without fancy intel/command) I still use on a very regular basis. In the past, I've saved enough only to spend it on the new ships that comes out. I've been good enough to not buy the ships I don't really want and kept only to the ones I REALLY liked and needed with enough diversity to enjoy it all when one of them gets boring. My last purchase was the Phantom Intel after which I told myself I wouldn't buy anymore and start saving and flipping zen so that I can have a decent income to buy the little things I need every now and then. I've been true to my promise when the Andromeda and the pilot ships came out. Now this comes along and threatens undo all my hard work.

on the buy side

I LOVE this ship.
I love the boff seating
I love it has intel - something I've been waiting for a LONG time
It's only 2500 zen (for the first weekend anyway)
I love the ship trait

on the save side

I already have an escort ship with intel
I already have the beefiest cruiser with intel
I've made do with the current ship trait, with the ferengi ship's greedy emitters, this one might just be a bit redundant.
I could use my zen to make more zen later on

Well, the argument continues, I've got a day or so to make up my mind.

If you're a fan of pretty much every aspect of the ship you're gonna have fun with it. Honestly OSS3 with 5 fore weapons sounds like a pretty delicious treat but I won't buy any more ships simply because I dislike the route this game is going.
But if you really like it and can get it with a samll discount, why not? Besides, what else would you spend your zen and dil for anyways. RNG crafting & upgrading hell?

The power creep has got kind of silly. If this is really the way the game is going, they need to at least add more options to upgrade the less powerful ships and gear more easily, because the gap between the min maxing "Game is a job" crowd and the casual players is getting too large for this game's future health.

It would of course be better to stop the power creep right here and now, but I doubt they'll ever do that because Cryptic logic is the same kind of logic my Vulcan science officer loves - Tons of explosions in it.

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

Power sells. Hence why you see so many Tac-focused ships and why, even when released in 3pc packs, the Tac ones always sell better.

Cryptic had a good start when they limited us to 4 Rep traits, but then went ahead with DR and completely smashed any hopes of curbing Power Creep. They haven't said anything or even acknowledged Power Creep exists.

It's sad, really. Compare the original Assault Cruiser (the DPS Cruiser of it's time) to an Excelsior. Yeah, the Excel is significantly better. But then compare it to the (T5) Avenger. Power Creep is supremely evident there; the DPS Cruiser "hero ship" (Sovereign) pales in comparison.

I hate these what do I buy threads, I often think its so the players can blame others for their bad choices.

if you cant make your own mind up what you want to buy I would say save your money and don't buy anything.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

If the c-store was try-before-you-buy you'd have a point. As the c-store is buy-then-try asking others if they like a ship is a smart thing to do.
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

The C-Store (although it has now been the Z-Store for years, but no one can accept calling it that) used to be a try-before-you-buy. When I first started playing the game, when you logged into Tribble, you were given an amount of Zen to use and the store wasn't deactivated. I bought and tried a Prometheus with console, the Galaxy-X with lance...but then they changed the rules and the store is now shutdown :-(

I think we all know why the C-Store doesn't allow test-drives.

    Zen. Z-Store. That's honestly what's it's been rebranded to.

when maint is over, log in and look for yourself. it is referred to as the c-store. you will find zero references to a 'z-store' in sto.
    even within this forum: http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/categories/c-store-zen-and-promotions

And yet the button to open it shows the Z-Zen symbol...

Its the Z-Store all right. It's also the C store. no reason to make argument when both sides are correct, and the subject is so trivial.

Some people referred to it as the Z-Store when we moved over the PWE's Zen currency but it is still called the C-Store.

You can still try ships on Tribble before you buy.
A guide to how Tribble works can be found here: http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums#/discussion/1119247/noob-guide-to-tribble/p1

To register for Tribble just transfer over a character using this page: http://www.arcgames.com/en/my/character/copy/sto

If this is ZEN from your monthly and dil earned by grinding... i wouldnt feel too bad on spending it on anything in the game!
However if this is ZEN you spent rl money on make sure that before get the 5k zen for a 50 dollar ship pack peruse g2play steam gog and few others on great games at 50 dollars. If there is nothing that interests you go right ahead and spend on sto.

no, it is not the z-store. it is the c-store. its always been called the c-store, and its still called the c-store today. the blogs, the forum, and the in-game ui all refer to it as such.
