Hey all, I'm new and just got passed the tutorial stuff, aka a Federation Lt. 3 and trying to figure out how to get started. I have command of my first ship, but don't know what next...I don't have enough energy credits for missions, how do I get them? And what is my next suggested course of action to get XP and other resources? Thanks in advance for any help! I promise I'm not usually this clueless with these types of games!

You don't need credits for missions at level three, I think you should have completed "graduation day", " training cruise" and "field promotion". Which puts you at " communications breakdown". Just fly to Pollux iv and continue the story.

You hit "m" to open the map and look for a star with a circle around it marking it as your mission location. Or you can zoom in close enough to see the names and find Pollux. Click on the star and a popup window will ask if you want to set course for there, say "yes".

Also, if you look under your minimap there is a list of your current missions and on the right side an icon. Click that symbol and a popup asks if you want to " transwarp" (teleport right there but at a cost in credits) or "navigate" fly there for free.

Awesome, thanks! The three missions that I have active are "Stranded in Space", "Unlocking the Box", and "Starbase 24". The last mission that I did was the one against the Borg cube.

Ah you're farther than I thought.

"Unlocking the box" is a tutorial on how the lockboxes work. You need to go ALL the way south nearly to the bottom of the map to Drozana. Best wait on this one for a while.

"Starbase 24" is honestly one I would drop. It's repeatable, but its a big 10-player defend the starbase mission. Best to learn the game some before doing that one.

"Stranded in space" is your current story mission. Go back to earth spacedock. Just outside the transporter pad in the big room to your right is a counter against the window with a bunch of vendors and ship options. In the middle way back against the window is a guy with his back to you and his arms clasped behind his back looking out into space. Talk to him.

He will tell you about a freighter in distress. Then you return to your ship and navigate to the freighter and save them.

If you get stuck, here's a guide to that specific mission:

Yup, I got that far. Unfortunately I don't have anywhere near the 20,000 energy credits needed to travel for it. Sooooo how do I get them?

That is only for "transwarp". Don't do that.

Instead on your minimap, just to the top left is a double arrow icon to beam to your ship. When you are on your ship but in orbit this same icon looks like the milky way spiral, that takes your ship out of orbit to the quadrant map.

On the quadrant map you can navigate to the mission manually.

I'm supposed to just be able to click on something on the map and warp there, right? After I hit "M" for the sector map, nothing I click on will let me warp there.

I've tried double-clicking on sectors, clicking "Warp to Sector Space"...when I do that, it takes me to the Vulcan system, but the popup prompts me to enter the Earth (Sol) system.

.....and just like that, whatever I did got me to the sector/astrometrics view and I'm heading to the Azure, and it's not asking me to go to Sol anymore.....not sure what I did, but it worked haha!

I think I get it now. That just comes up because I'm right next to Sol in the sector.

Yes, when you are near any planet it asks you if you want to enter orbit.

You're going to azure nebula because you clicked on it while the map was open.

Open the map and click on anything and you can fly to it. So click on the freighter to fly to it. It should be south of sol.

You can also just steer yourself, just like in orbit, but its easy to get lost that way.
