T6 "Battlecruisers"

orangeitisorangeitis Member Posts: 5,222 Arc User
The blog just came out. I saw no official posting for them other than it.

http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/9416803-star-trek-online:-tier-6-battlecruisers

Is the Heavy Warbird classified as a Battlecruiser now...? Or is it a casual label-slap like the Pilot Raptors and Pilot Warbirds got in the "Pilot Escort Mega Bundle"?

Oh hell yeah! My second fav. Cruiser is getting a T6 upgrade!

I've been waiting for this one for quite a while now.
My mother always told me to walk away from a fight, The Marines taught me how.

The Fed and Klingon ships may take the ugly record, and hopefully hold it for years to come. Just terrible.

In my own case, Cryptic can keep these. Don't want.

Well, there goes my hopes of a T6 Avenger getting a better skin. I swear, I think it's intentional at this point. I'll buy it if it comes with a giant space paper bag to cover it up.

The Romulan has the best look. Im not sure if the Fed ship beat the ugliest of the Fedb Dyson ship. Hmmm. Almost definitely. Excellent work Cryptic.

The Arbiter's saucer section makes me want a Tier 6 Star Cruiser.

Yep, and after that something to do with Escort Carriers perhaps. ;)

Also, I agree with vivenneanthony, the T6 Mogai is the best looking of the lot, even though its hardly any different from the two original varients. But since the Mogai was always my second favorite Rom design, behind the Scimitar (Don't hate me :) ) I could be biased.

EDIT: Also, am I the only one who was most excited at the prospect that this could mean they fixed the old Avenger's abaltive bridge armor bug. I'd really like my windows back. :)

Probably only the Fed HEC. But I do see a Tac Carrier Warbird and a Flight-Deck Raptor in the KDF's and RRF's future though...

Just one thing, why do folks prefer the ship to be good-looking? If it does the job (blasting enemies to smithereens, etc.) why on earth do looks matter? It's not as if you get more XP the better looking your ship is anyway*...

*I can understand the reason for the desire for the Arbiter to at least be a looker, but the Klingons don't and have never cared much for the visual aesthetic of their ships.

That 'Arbiter' is one... UGLY ship...

The KDF and RRF ones look acceptable if nothing else, but that Starfleet one... I can't tell if they either didn't finish putting on the hull plating or just poured glue in a box of ship parts and called whatever they pulled out when it dried a 'T6 Battlecruiser'...

The way I see it - DPS is just some abstract, mechanical number. There isn't any emotional connection to it.
If your DPS is good enough, you can increase another abstract, mechanical number. And then, finally, you can turn this abstract number in yet another abstract number. And then, when you use that number, you can turn that into a ship, with a neat visual representation with a bunch of abstract numbers that may help you increase the first. Maybe you just care about that cycle of abstract numbers getting higher and number. But isn't that visual representation aspect a lot more interesting? There is beauty in there!

That said... beauty is in the eye of the beholder, too. Not just that some people may like ship X better or ship Y. Some may even think the numbers are what's beautiful.

$35 for a skin, 1 boff slot, and another pay-for-power trait (looks like a pretty OP one too). Ugh. Its sad how much of a treadmill T6 really is, nothing genuinely innovative just selling the same ships over again with ever more power creep, these or the upcoming rehashes of the Defiant or Prometheus or Excelsior or whatever comes next. And people celebrate this? "Thank you sir may I have another!" They should be ashamed of themselves.

Wonderful! Because the one thing T6 was lacking was BATTLE CRUISERS! Hurrah!

*sigh* ... So we get about a ship a month, right? Great, so probably no T6 BoP until...August? So what, around ten months since the release of Delta Rising and the whole "Tier 6" thing? Hey, Cryptic... if you put it off just two more it could be an even year!

I actually like the Avenger's original look compared to what's coming. Until we get more ship slots, I'm sitting this one out.

Oh noes, this game that costs me not a cent to play that releases regular updates and a monthly new mission these days is trying to convince people into spending money on it! And some people actually take them on on it!

they are ugly. i don't know who makes the new ships, but maybe he/she should do something else. personally, i bought my latest ship next month, and i won't buy an other one. why i should buy ships? for engouraging cryptic? no way. i can do the same thing day after day with my current ships. I want a better gameplay (smart AI, the end of the sponge mobs), interesting things to do.

And if no one buys ships, then this will also never happen.

But I think yes - if you're not happy with the game or with the ship design, whatever - don't buy it. If you're not alone in your decision, Cryptic has to do something about it. If not... You have to live with them not needing to change, at least not for their own sake.

Of course, there is no guarantee that any change is for the better.. If few people buy science vessels, and a lot buy cruisers, Cryptic's obvious reaction is to sell more of the latter and less of the former. (Though that's just another reason to not buy these ships, we don't need to give them any reasons to make more Cruisers! ;) ).

The Arbiter is uglier than the new forums, so there's that.

Horizontal progression and greater depth of play I'd happily support. Garbage like these T6 rereleases though are just laziness on Cryptic's part and shows just how little they think of the playerbase (though given how many people buy this TRIBBLE, guess that assessment is correct).

We should be celebrating, your favorite T5 ships will be remastered in glorious T6 HD! Type 7 material on the Avenger? Yes please.

Yep, we're getting everything it seems. There's enough on Cryptic's ship release schedule that will go well into 2016.

If they give us free reign on the "kitbash" options Saucer/Hull/Wings/Pylons/Nacelles et al, then you might be able to make something 'not quite as fugly' with the Fed and KDF ships ... maybe.

The Romulan Ship looks pretty decent, but then, it's more or less only a very slight variation on the Mogai/Valdore, so I guess that's both good and bad.

The T6 Mogai has a beard...
Does that mean it's from the Mirror Universe?
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...
    unfortunately:

    NOT LOYAL ENOUGH!!!

If the KDF can get a Fleet D7 (that can be upgraded to a T5-U), the Feds should have a Fleet Exeter.
