Kemocite training manuals

Can you fabricate kemocite tac manuals through Research and Development? I'm guessing no because of the exorbitant prices on the exchange.

    No, they come from the last lock-box.
    Its a box, if you open it you have a chance of 3 powers (1 is kemo) and a chance of the power to be 1, 2 or 3.
    And thats why kemo cost so much, chance of the box is low and then you got a 1 in 3 chance for kemo.

    Years ago we joked that Cryptic's money grubbing would put BOFF abilities in a Lockbox.

    Edit: Also, you'll notice that Lv I costs way more than Lv III. The reason is very simple. People don't want to part with their LtCdr level skills, which tend to be very nice (i.e. BFAW3, APO1, TS3, etc.). But Lv I is Ensign level. Not to mention a number of older Escorts have 3 TAC stations, so no shortage of Ensign TAC ability slots.

    The way they have done this is awfull.

    You should at least unlock a crafting recipie for it so you can craft as manny as you like and have them Bind to Account on pickup. That way you can make as many as you like for your other boffs but not sell them on.

    Having to get one for every doff you want to train is just horrible

    This is what I've been saying for a while. We needed more diversity in regards to Ensign tactical abilities. If you ran cannons and no torps, your only choice for Ensign tactical abilities was Tactical Team I. And if your ship had 2 Ensign tactical abilities? You ran 2 copies of Tac Team I. If you had a ship with 3 Ensign Tacs? 3 copies of Tac Team I -- or you altered your build and threw a torp on it for Torp Spread I or High Yield I. Or you ran a DBB escort.

    As soon as Kemocite-laced Weaponry hit the dev blog, I knew immediately the first rank of it would be far more expensive than the others to an obscene extent. Particularly because of the High DPS meta and the sheer number of Escorts and Tactical-slanted Cruisers and Science ships in the game. Demand is high even before you get into the bridge officer abilities.

    Cryptic has no problem hot-loading Ensign tactical bridge officer seating, but have been negligent in giving us a diverse arsenal of abilities to go with them, particularly when the Cannon Abilities only start at Lieutenant.

    We can only hope Cryptic offers more Tactical bridge officer abilities (starting at Ensign) like the Resonance Destabilizing Beam as a FE reward, because I don't believe players should be at the mercy of the Exchange for a viable (or even useful) Ensign-quality bridge officer ability as a result of so many "false choices". Just my opinion.

    Ensign Engineering ranks are worse than TAC. Excluding the new Lockbox BOFF abilities (1 per, really Cryptic?), Engineering has 5 abilities. 4 of those throw each other into shared CDs (the EPT_ abilities). At least Ensign Tactical only throws similar abilities into shared CDs.

    While it would be good to have more viable choice for Ensign Tac abilities, I think that Engineering needs a little attention first..some sort of chroniton-themed skill perhaps to do with *SPOILERS* the no-doubt-upcoming Krenim-related FE?

    Every ship uses subsystem power. Not every ship uses beams and torpedos. While they may share cooldowns, every Ensign-level Engineering ability is useful. Perhaps not ideal for some folks, but Emergency Power abilities are useful everywhere.

    Not every Ensign-level Tactical is useful for every ship.

    If you run nothing but Cannons/Turrets (and for whatever reason Mines, but that's another can of worms), the only ability that you gain any benefit whatsoever from is Tactical Team I. If you run an Escort with 3 Ensign Tactical slots, you are forced to have 3 Copies of Tactical Team. Anything else simply does not apply to your ship.

    Until Kemocite Weaponry came out. Now you can run double Tac Teams and use the third Ensign slot for Kemocite. You are no longer given false choices.

    Kemocite Weaponry I at ~50 million EC is not telling of just how awesome it is, but just how dismal the other choices are.

    If other Ensign Engineering abilities were that useless, you'd see SIF Collapse I at around the same market price.

    The boff training manuals are the latest **** up of Cryptics, to pave the way for pay2win bo abilities.

    Fact is they ve overcomplicated the system while they were at it. Not to mention annoying.

    How is it overcomplicated? They're the same kind of manuals as everything else.

    Lol, the reason those cost so much is because it performs way way better than TT for more DPS, so it's in high demand. Heck, the struct integrity collapse also performs extremely well, but the tac one overshadows it by being so much better than anything you could use in the ensign slot, hence the ridiculous price on it.

    Well, it's good enough to be worth slotting if you have it, but in my opinion it isn't good enough to be worth more than 10-15mil EC maximum. If you have the EC/resources to flip large quantities of lockbox ships/Sheshars at once, or are a min-maxer who's pushing your build as far as it can go regardless of the price, then maybe you might find it worth the current high price.

    If I had to choose between KLW 1 and a Plasmonic Leech on the exchange (which seem to be about the same price), the Leech would win out by a huge margin. I don't think KLW 1 can compete against a console that can easily give >21 power to each subsystem whenever you are hitting targets with energy weapons.

    Ok, well, I have a leech and I happened to be kinda, well, impressionable 1 day and opened 3 boxes. One of said boxes contained the kemocite 1 manual (which I promptly was pissed at and stuck in my bank). Now, after reading this post, I come to understand that it's worth more than I anticipated. So, do I slot it? or do I sell it on the exchange, and if so, for what?

    But its also about oportunity cost. Basicly you have 4 times chance of a disruptor proc (for real, this is op as hell, like even on ground are barely a few 10% procs) on top of extra damage. All this for a lil ens station:eek: Its allmost like having 4 of those op embasy consoles equiped. If some oportunity cost would change, and rebalancing them, say 2,5 chance for ens, 5% for lt. and 7,5% or even 10% for the lt.com station, it would be much different.

    One other thing. Surprises me Cryptic didnt made them universal tech manuals like they have done with some ground kit modules.
