and the ship can't even hold up to the borg. I just finished the borg arc and am into the breen arc. Since i have a bunch rep marks that can go any which way, so what's the best space set to level past 50?

I just crafted low level stuff and upgraded it along the way. Not the most cost effective, but sometimes its worth paying a higher cost just to keep things direct.

Jem set in the short term, iconian three piece in the long term. It is both tanky and damaging. Great stuff.

Just grab the kobali and solonae sets.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I can't remember the rank they're accessible at, but Solanae and Kobali.

I would say to suffer through the solanae set for science since you might want the deflector in the long run anyway.

I personally hate the solanae set due to the limitation placed on its hull heal set bonus. But I think it's better than Breen or Jem Hadar and crafted.

Crafted would be my second choice. I used crafted on my delta until he got to the solanae mission.

I also used the ancient obelisk 2 piece for the antiproton buff.

That would require skipping all the missions in between first and playing the story line out of order.

But realistically, no one needs an item set to beat NPCs in single player.

I would recommend looking into how to improve the BOFF selection.

Without sets, traits and DOFFs and all that working in your favour, you can look into:
    • Emergency Power to Shields. It boosts your shield damage reduction (and shield power, and gives shield healing), and with 2 you can have 100 % uptime you can considerably harden your ship against incoming damage.
    • Hazard Emitters to defeat any shield neutralizers or plasma fires that cause you problems, as well as bleedhtrough damage.
    • Tactical Team to ensure your shields are always focused on the side that gets hit hard. Pop when you start to lose your shields.
    • Science Team to deal with annoying debuffs like Subnucleonic Beam

Before all the power creep from traits, consoles, DOFFs and what not set in, these were pretty much "staple" powers to make your ship last to anything. (It was probably often even overkill in PvE, but in PvP, it was your only way to last against anything. Until the vapers came, probably.)

Offense-Wise - AFAIK, nothing really beats Beam Fire At Will, possibly augmented by Attack Pattern Beta. Depending on what slots you still have available. Cannon Rapid Fire or Volley are good only for cannon builds, but it seems beams with BFAW are still seen as more effective. Torpedo Spread seems to beat Torpedo High Yield these days, though maybe that is mostly if you combine it with Gravity Well and either Enhanced Plasma Emission Torpedoes or Gravimetric Torpedoes.
    • In a science vessel, gravity well is probably the best offense-oriented ability to get. Though that new radiation-thingy-beam power isn't bad either, but I think you can only unlock that with a later mission.
    • In a Cruiser, commander level engineering skills mostly suck at anything but healing, but I doubt you'd still need it when you covered the rest. DEM III could be an option. Eject Warp Plasma if you feel manoeuvrable enough.
    • Escort - Attack Pattern Omega or Beta.

A set you might be able to do now, on this character or a different one, would be the Aegis Set. (Not sure if Delta Recruits get the Aegis DOFF). Of course, that requires having trained crafting on whatever character has the Aegis DOFF. Or hitting the exchange.
As you get access to better gear and particularly all kinds of passive healing from sets and traits, or cooldown reductions from DOFFs, you can slowly phase out defensive and healing oriented powers and try to find something offense-oriented in its place.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.

I'm with mustrum those are good sets but they come in very late in the story. Kobali in particular would be hard to get if the character is struggling. Better to look at the earlier ones and build around them.

I suggested the iconian rep one for its tankiness and you can do gateway to grethor normal (hopefully the Risa bids and monkey turn ins too) for easy iconian marks even in an underperforming ship. Once you have gear and a build that works you can move to anything you like down the road.

Mustrum gave solid advice how to do so.

Used JH and breen myself. Using kobali now. Only requires a time investment and dust to dust is a lot less painful to play than between the stats with cooper.

Used the JH build for the energy weapon build http://sto.gamepedia.com/Dominion_Polaron_Beam_Array to stay in character. Breen for the obvious transphasic torpedo build.

The Borg are more than a little OP, especially in Fluid Dynamics largely due to the incompetence and stupidity of your AI fleet, but also the overbuffed Borg. If you're past them you should be fine with the Breen, but honestly more than likely you want to look at your BOFF powers and playstyle first. A space set isn't going to help much unless you are using some very outdated gear.

But, I would say Aegis is a good set, and if you have been doing crafting it should be fairly cheap for you. The Tholian set should also be very easy to acquire and is a decent defensive/science set. Solonae could work too as others have said but it requires replaying one of the worst missions in the game due to the horrible Dyson Destroyer loadout they give you, but it would be one of the fastest to acquire. Undine, Dyson, and Romulan sets are also fairly easy to acquire. Other reputation sets require elite marks which if you aren't running on advanced, will take very long to actually put together.

However, I don't think it is even possible to get the Kobali set, given it is a level 60 mission now. Skipping isn't possible if you're not at the appropriate level for it.

The archchancellor makes the salient point here. Unless your gear is severely under-leveled, it's unlikely to be the problem for single-player content.

It is hard to know if you were playing the right ship. Because even in the borg missions the borg ships follow the same stupid npc pattern. Sphere's will have the most hit points and be the most powerful enemies.
Note you can play without using complete sets. Many people do this.

    ITEMS TO WORK FOR:
    OMEGA REP
    1) I would look at trying to get to tier-3 in Omega rep and then work to get the honor guard engines. These have the hot start feature, and will keep your engines going. The iconian viral probes then will not be able to shut your engines down. This allows you to use evasive manuevers to get away (NOTE: when your engines are offline you cannot use any engine powers including evasive). This is very good for new people who do not have special consoles and other stuff.
    2) Kinetic Omni beam array---just because you can fire 360 degress.

    DELTA REP
    1) Delta warp core. The warp jump takes you 5km instantly. This will give you another way to retreat from a battle or a bad situation.

    NAKURA REP
    1) Deflector and shields. Having 2 peices of this set brings your weapons back online after 3 secs. This means you have your weapons back and can continue to fight.

    EXCHANGE:
    1) As your now lvl 50 you can use Mk-12 or Mk-13 equipement. I would look on the exchange for Very Rare Mk-12 stuff as its pretty cheap. This should make PvE much easier for you. NOTE: Antiproton weapons are mostly for critical hit builds...so weapons type is really your choice for how you wish to play. R&D stuff can also be found on the exchange for pretty cheap now.

    2) If your a FTP (Free-to-Play) person I might suggest looking at the Mirror Universe ships because at T5 there maybe a bridge layout that fits your play style better for the ship type you play. They will give you more ship options as a free person.

    3) Specialization Manuals: You use these to add a specialization to your bridge officer. NOTE: Only use these on very rare bridge officers and ones with traits you like. Having ground intel or command abilties can really help in ground combat. You can also buy the level 3 versions of bridge officer abilities you don't have, or cannot get. Also many expert players turn their uncommon and rare bridge officers into manuals to train up their cool very rare ones they are keeping...so you can get them there too.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:
I usually tell people to run as fast as they can through the rep systems to get them to Tier-5. This is because you will have access to the special trait which can be helpful, and you can plan and choose what you want or need then. Going to battlezones or doing some normal STF's(PvE's) will help you out as it is going to be a long road to get to level 60..the extra marks will come in handy. I would also suggest saving your specialization points you begin to aquire and ask other people about builds. Picking the right ones can give you a boost in the game.

If your romulan republic go take time off from the crawl to 60 and get you new Romulus set both space and ground. The ground set will hold you untill you can get the Imperial Romulan ground set from the level 60 mission in the Iconian arc. IE: focus on new romulas rep. The space set is good stuff, bosnus plasma damage all over the place. Going plasma boat as ROM is a GOOD idea... while the stuff may not have all the bright and fancys, its LESS WORK TO GET! And if any of your old toons have made it to tier 5 in rom rep, have em make ya a rep token, and you can be at tier 5 on the new toon in 20 days and 625 Rom rep tokens..Of which you all ready have 250 of as a Delta now. for reaching level 50.

Racial romulans get a lovely bonus to plasma damage on the ground. If your KDF Aligned RR, beg borrow or steal 2 to 5 Nausicaan BOFFs for the "pirate" trait and the bonus to damage.

The VET Destroyer is going to be a good ship for you, and if any of your other toons bagged the Dyson sci DD, come tomorrow you can claim it on that toon, which is a fleet quality tier 5 ship all told.

The only place you'll find a better science ship is by flopping out the zen for one of the T6 ships.

Cloakers do want Reman/Romulan BOFFS for the out of cloak damage bonus, but the nausican pirate train just keeps on delivering no matter what.

If your KDF science.. well, I do rather well with a Fleet Tor'khat, (F-T5U) even though its a great mugging battle cruiser..I've got it set up to cause escorts captains anxiety issues. Battle cruisers are not supposed to be able to turn fight with escorts...shame no one told me that untill after I'd found how to work a 36 degree per second turn mode into a Battlecruiser.. LtC sco boff slot availible, along with captains SCI abilities... I have fun!

Fed player? I got noth'n for you. I do have a Fed SCI that I've had for I guess 4 years.. She hasn't finished grinding to 60 yet, and she's in a Wells class. Fun captain to play, but her ship is far from tweeked.

Good luck, have fun. Thats is why we do this after all!
