i know pet ai in general can be pretty atrocious, but just now i took my kdf's breen carrier into gateway to grethor, launched the raiders, then watched as they spent half the mission doing some sort of epileptic goldfish impression only tending to fire their turrets, and only attacking properly 2 or 3 times.
added to this, the attack/defend/intercept/dock controls might as well just have the buttons removed, given their functionality seems to be ignored by the ai completely.
yeah they're broken or something. They never hit full impulse either so they often spend the entire match flying to ships rather than actually fighting.

If they're porpoising ("diving up and down") it means they're under the effects of Ionic Turbulence, which the Heralds like to do. With all the Herald ships, there's no shortage of Ionic Turbulence sources.
they where just twitching left & right quickly while only moving forward at a snails pace. all while failing to attack properly through 90% of the mission even when in range.
also, they where doing this before getting into range of anything too.
Ahh ok.
Reminds me of wonky hangar AI behavior long ago in old school KASE where your units just pick a compass direction and leave
Most pets cannot get dual cannons on target more than 5% of the time...... Most players, especially the ones who think they are DHC gods, cannot get dual cannons on target more than 10% of the time in pvp and 15% of the time in pve.....(I actually find the raiders to be much better than any of the other pets with dual or dual heavy cannons. They seem to slow down attack runs when they can actually fire. The flanking AI may actually improve them over other pets...)
So all pets depend primarily on turrets for dps unless they have beam arrays. That is why the beam array pets seem so much better on every dps parse ever taken...
It's one of the reasons Delta Flyer pets are working so well these days. Their Tachyon Beam works at any range, and it has a good arc. They supplement it with beams and torpedo's that don't care about hitting shields as much. Basically their weaponry is tailored to poor usage.
It's also why I'm wondering if advanced scorpions may work better than elites...no shots wasted on meaningless high yields...
