The title says it all I need more sliders better updates on the alien generator !!!
I made a Vorta it looked very cartoony, I made a Jem'hadar it didn't really look like a trek Jem'hadar The alien race maker is so so limited on building a great alien no matter what you build.
Also the costumes starfleet is starfleet or renegade, KDF really lacks closing romulan people well same as the KDF just isn't enough options. EVen with all the extra parts you put in what isn't really doing what it should do I hate it...
Just want some more costumes even for the fed side it's story limited...
Cmon Devs could you please make an upgrade to the options ??

From a business standpoint if they are going to take that effort it would be smarter for them to sell you a Race Package of some type with the pieces that will be added to your Alien Gen once you buy the Pack. So you can buy a Vorta Pack, or whatever.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
You can make a convincing enough Vorta, just as decent looking as Loriss and Eraun. That's easy. But to make a convincing enough Jem'Hadar? Just not possible. The features that do it are unique to the Jem'Hadar NPCs and not available to the Alien Gen. You can get the uniforms. You can get the weapons. But the skin texture, horns at the top and lower jaw, and that you can't quite replicate the head shape. Not to mention you don't have the Ketracel White tubes.

Like they did with the Jem'hadar and the winter event already got those but yes it would be welcome to put something like that into the store.
I certainly would get it ...

Yah but as we've seen in the recent KDF update improving the niceties doesn't always follow under the simple line proscribed by a "business standpoint." If you only follow that you can only justify direct consumer-business relations. Ie. I do this, you pay for it, we both make out. But because STO has many more indirect components that influence people's willingness to engage in the above, doing "nice" things can and perhaps often does pay off.
Yay to an alien tailor revamp!

And just as often does not pay off as well; as people quickly forget the "nice" things done for them in the past.

I support this. The alien generator needs tails, claws, hooves, all sorts of stuff to go crazy with - and don't forget to eliminate the questionable limitation of alien bits. For instance, only male alien are allowed to have a certain type of horns - one STO uses exclusively on female Deferi. As a consequence, it is not possible to imitate a Deferi NPC...

There is no doubt whatsoever that it would "pay off" for Cryptic. It's a given, that players will hand over great wads of cash for Character Creator and/or Costume packs and options.
It completely unfathomable why they don't put more effort into costumes and race options, but no game developer seems interested in tapping this gold mine. Every MMO forum on the internet has dozens of threads like this one.
...
Having said that, I will add one other race we currently cannot reproduce in the Alien Gen - Talaxian!
And just as often does not pay off as well; as people quickly forget the "nice" things done for them in the past.
Its not so much a conscious thing (for which forgetting would be applicable.) Its more about building a background against which the main economic transactions take place.
Cryptic does a "nice" thing that changes the tone of the game for a player in one small way. They go on playing with that tone's impact having changed the feel of the game in some small way. Their opinion develops just a little differently than if no action was taken. Even if they forget the original action they're still living with the subtle psychological consequences of the event.
I think the thing to keep in mind that providing cryptic with explicit recognition here about the "nice" things they do isn't important, because being able to feature at the center of long-stated arguments isn't the crux of what makes a good business decision (its just what we expect because in a format where we can only make long, stated arguments [ie. forums] we tend to assume that long, stated arguments are the end all of a good decision making process.)

I assume, however, this is intentional as Talaxians are actually available/exclusive available for cash. I think you are unable to imitate any of the races you have to unlock via the store or other means. You can however make Kobali, Hierarchy (I think) and other "minor" races that probably won't get released officially.

I do not see any reason to debate this. If people are willing to spend $1.25 for 0.05% chance to win a ship, and end up with 4 Lobi - that they cannot use unless they spend more on Keys to get more Lobi - then I do not see why people would not be willing to spend $2.00 on a Pack of Alien skins.
For all the thousands Cryptic is spending to change Klingon appearance, 6 months after it comes no one will have cared about how nice they were to do it; and the players will still demand that more be done.

They have written themselves into a massive corner by bringing the Iconian War into being. The Iconians, with all their servitor races, and vastly superior technology, have been established over the last few years as THE biggest of the bigbads of this galaxy. Unless they are planning on restructuring PvP into becoming Iconian Servitor Races vs Allied Races of the Milky Way, I don't see how they really can milk it for too terribly long. Maybe a season or two.
Irrelevant argument. The Borg were kings of Trek badassery when they were introduced. By the time Voyager came to an end Janeway was popping them like Pakleds.
Eventually the Iconians will go away, or be trapped by something of their own making, or whatever, and it will be back to business as usual in the Trekverse - just as it was with the Borg.

I wouldn't mind that as long as they all went in the C-store and not the lobi store... packs of alien parts........ sounds kinda sick :P
It does sound sick on one hand but the other hand says make a few good aliens and people will buy them, I bought the Borg BO also the Feresan BO and so on.
Wish you could buy the Breen and the Jem'hadar as an BO and make an Breen or Jem'hadar or Vorta or Shape shifter captain and I think more people would buy it from the C-Store if it was there.
But also what I miss most is recognition in the game when I make an Alien and say it's a demolay from that race the game recognize it as such and characters like neelix don't I'm not familiar with your species but I met some KDF people on Voyager. NOOO He has to say I never met your species where you from and how did you come in contact with the KDF or Starfleet or whatever...
Just Saying...

Which doesn't make any sense. A lot more people would buy those C-Store races if buying them unlocked their parts for Aliens.
I have a Deferi crew already, but thanks Although, being aliens, they have the advantage that I can completely change their race with one click. I originally created them out of protest over all the Kobali stuff we got as everything they have fits the Deferi better, aesthetically and in lore. But meh, I might change them occasionally to fit different themes.

Except champions online. Where they add new content to the character builder monthly at a minimum (one free item for sub's each month added to an unlock vendor in millennium city), plus account wide costume unlocks in every lockbox, costume drops from bosses, costume pieces in each reputation (24 cyborg and tech themed bits in the latest rep for mechanon), etc.
And people still pay 425 zen for the new costume unlocks even though there are so many free options. Because people love space barbie (or hero barbie in the case of champions).
The one that really amazes me is that cryptic gutted this for neverwinter, and doesn't even sell extra tailor/fashion slots at all.
More on topic to this post, the engine can handle truly animal feet, I have several over in champs. Its cool. Sto totally should do it too.
